Title: PAIN MEDS????????
Post by CH-HELL on Sep 13th, 2008 at 3:45pm
I am new to this site and have many questions.  I have taken every possable pain killer out there most of them gave rebound ha (Perocet being the worst!!!!     and morphine gave very little rebounds.   I hav'nt taken any pain killers in over six months,  I just rely on my o2 and triptans,  and a bunch of other meds see (newbie in need of help) for the full list.  Since I stop the pain killers I have gained thirty pounds because the side affects of imitrex.  For me Imitrex injects work most of the time to abort my ch, but it gives me trerible joint, muscle and tendon pain.  I have broke several bones and every time I take any triptan it feels like they are still broke.   My question for everyone is how do I over come this joint pain.  I need to do some thing I am 6'2" tall and weigh 230  thirty of those pounds in the last four to six month because it hurts to move.   :-[

Greetings, and sorry you had to come lookin for us.  I only know about 2 people that say traditional pain meds have any effect on the CH.  It is not a very successful way to deal with CH.
Oxygen and triptans also work for me.  Personally, I would rather suck O2 than get jacked up on opiates and still have the CH.
Also talk to your doctor about medications which can help to prevent the CHs from happening.  There is a variety of preventatives, each with varying degrees of success and with their own side effects.  Talk with your doc and see if one may be right for you.

Welcome, and PF wishes to you.

CH are not my only health problems so here you go CH, Hyperlipidemia, Chronic rhinitis, Cervical Radiculopathy, high bloob pressure, abnormal thyroid functions,  and a mood disorder LOL.  I am sure that I missed some thing but you get the idea.  The list of meds I am on Verapamil 360mg, zolmitriptan 2.5mg tab, Imitrex auto injector, Tizanidine,Tramadol, Temazepam, Promethazine, Omeprazole, Nortriptyline, loratadine, citalopram, lisinopril and Alprazolam, I think that is it.  I have seen soo many doctors, neuros and the head pain clinic in Ann Arbor, MI.  So I dont know if anyone can help but it is nice too know I'm not alone.

Reply #9 - Today at 10:16am        Thanks again for the replies and the info, the list of meds is what I am currently taking and I forgot to add Valproic Acid.

That is one hell of a list of medications  :o

The only one I can comment on is Verapamil.  I've gained about 15lbs in the last year from using this med.  Gone from 225lbs to 240lbs.  I'll take the extra weight in trade for fewer hits ;)

That said, Imitrex has never given me joint pain.  Iv'e never heard anyone talk about weight gain and Imitrex either.

But then I don't use that much of trex.  My main abortive is Oxygen.

Like absynthe and Michelob Ultra Light.

Just kidding, CH-HELL. Kind of an inside joke.

I did'nt say pain meds helped for CH, if they did I would still be taking them, but they did help the pain in my joints,  I know CH are not common and the side effects I get from triptans is not common.  I was just wondering if anyone had the joint pain and how they coped.

SO SAVE YOUR INSIDE JOKES FOR SOMEONE ELSE >:(

IT WAS AN INSIDE JOKE DIRECTED AT THE OTHER POSTERS ON THIS THREAD. THAT'S SORT OF THE DEFINITION OF AN INSIDE JOKE. SO SAVE YOUR RIGHTEOUS INDIGNATION FOR SOMEONE ELSE >:(

Now take a deep breath and carry on.

You really need to lighten up, buttmunch. A lot of other people here are in the same fuckin' situation as you, and they're not feeling sorry for themselves.

I will now bow out of this thread, and you can figure out whether you're going play your little violin for yourself or try to have a laugh along the way. I'm done with you. Good luck.

Dear CH-HELL:

I have broken quite a few bones in my lifetime and know when the weather is about to change from their aches.  The best relief I ever got from those aches and pains has been from Ibuprophen 800 mg 3x a day.

I'm not a doctor, so I can't prescribe that for you.  Perhaps you should check with an orthopedist and see what good they can do for you.

I, too, will step up and apologize. We got off on the wrong foot over a misunderstanding. I'm sorry.
