Title: Visit to the orthopedic surgeon
Post by swimchica623 on Sep 16th, 2008 at 3:28pm
Hi guys,
Well I think my mom posted here about the car accident I was in a month ago...I was rear ended by a guy going 40mph (did not stop at a light) and both our cars were totaled.  I have been away from the computer except for very necessary school work( ok and a little chatting) cuz I have been in a cast up to my thumb and my elbow.
So if you didn't know there you go if you did...I got back from the dr just a little ago, looks like I'd have to stay in an above elbow cast for 6 more weeks than another cast for atleast 6 weeks...over 3 months total!!
So I opted for the surgery, some little pins into the scaphoid bone that is cracked and separated.  That recovery time is about 6 weeks, much better!
I honestly am more worried about the anesthesia than anything, I had some a little bit ago for a procedure and had a awful time after, lots of hits.  CH has been slightly harder to control lately in general cuz of the accident and I've had more mirgaines and a daily headache on top of it all.
I swam with the cast on though, got a bag that made my arm look freeze dried.  But now the dr said no (like maybe I should have felt the bone cracked in half?) stop swimming or the surgery would be worse and longer time recovery.
Which means more time out of the water....
But will be ok, its nice to know that this will all be OVER with eventually you know?
Lisa

Hi Lisa, sorry to hear about your accident, but glad you're on your way to recovery. Careful about what pain meds you take afterwards. I had a heck of time with my CH after back surgery when I took Vicadin.

No medical advice, but do make the buttmunch that hit you pay through the nose.

I was wondering how you were doing, Lisa.  Good luck with the surgery!

And what Brew said....make em pay for all your pain and suffering!!

Hugs, Beth

She already found it Barry! Now we can't blame you. She was so happy to get back in the water. It's worked pretty well although one day it kind of leaked and she had to dry out with a hairdryer.

As far as the legal part of this, we have a lawyer working on it and are not rushing to settle. It's been a rough few weeks.
