Title: Damn Insurance Companies
Post by jimmers on Sep 25th, 2008 at 10:41pm
Barb was supposed to have surgery tomorrow (Hysterectomy) because she has been having a lot of problems for the last 9 years.

We were all set and readied ourselves for this, only to be denied coverage TODAY because they want to see her records for the last ten years because THEY think that there may be other things that the Doctor can do to help her. Believe me, she and her Doctor have tried everything, including going back on the pill to straighten things out, but to no avail. NOTHING IS WORKING!!!!!!!!!!  And I feel Barb and her Doctor have been very patient, but ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When the F&^% did insurance companies hire 18 year old doctors to sit in cubicles and have their only job be to deny claims? (Sarcasm)

These Bastards are nothing more than crooks with a license!

Now they want to see her records for the last 10 years so they can make a judgment to see if the surgery is really warranted.

Sorry for the vent but NOBODY messes with my Family.

They haven't talked to me yet, and I'm sure they won't like me when they do >:(

She made the mistake of thinking that you're allowed to be sick after you get your insurance. They are almost as evil as the drug companies.

How long have they had to review the claim?  Do you have a HMO or a PPO (or other variety)?  I might let the doctor take care of this one if he would.

Go on and give them HELL!!!  Insurance companies can be such a joke.  I was only 28 when I had my hysterectomy and the insurance company didn't give us a hard time at all.  So good luck to you and your wife.  I hope that she can have her surgery soon and if she needs to chat after she can pm me.  I've been there and done that.

Why the hell didn't they ask right from the start? >:(

Because they can. It's all about power and intimidation with these fucksticks.

And you get the privilege of being one of their clients, all for the low, low price of $xxx.xx per month.

Well, it's too late for right now, but I think I'd start at the bottom and work my way to the top (by that I mean, ask the adjustor *who* denied this claim~because that's basically what they are doing~and then start working my way up.  That's sh!tty on the companys' part and if it were me, I might think of filing a complaint with the insurance commisioner.

Carolyn (who thanks the stars above for an insurance company that is relatively easy to deal with)

Well I am late coming in on this but I'm glad that it was approved!

I also had a hysterectomy.... at 32...... I think that the insurance co. was tired of paying for all the other surgeries that the doc was doing to correct the problem.  The hysterectomy cured me!  Boy, I wish I could have a Hypothingoectomy to cure my CH!

Tell Barb she can PM me if she wants/needs to talk!

I had mine done 13 years ago Monday.  Best thing I've ever had done.  I hope they do Barb's the least invasive way - if they do she'll have very little pain and quick recovery.  Which hospital is she going to?

Best of luck to her.

You guys must have the single person coverage plan, cuz if that is a family coverage plan you're missing an "x", at least our monthly deal is $xxxx.xx

Go at 'em Jim. Unfortunatly Bill is correct. They did it because they can. and you have to take it. You don't have to take it lying down, but you'll have to take it.

I hope you're not going to lose vacation / sick days because of rescheduling.

I went to the doctor yesterday and got a prescription for Augmenton for an ear/sinus infection.

then I went to Kerr Drug to pick it up:

$97 base price
with a $75 copay?

what?

So I asked if there was a generic:

got a call hours later and said the generic was ready to pick up:

cost?

$85

What have we done to ourselves?

Damn Vig, I think I'd find me another pharmacy.  I just paid for my daughter's generic augmentin (and I had to pay full price because she has a humongous deductible to reach first) and it wasn't quite $40.00.

I had my experience with Canada too a couple years ago. Even Medicaid won't pay for what they deem a cosmetic treatment. It's hard to complain about that though. Lots of epileptics have dermatology problems...espeically on the scalp. I'm one of them. There is a cream that I use most of the time that I have to pay for. If I got it here, it's something like $115 or so. In Canada, it's $55. So, I made the order but was told that I'd have to wait. I did for three months. They have to get it sent from India because of our evil drug companies' lobbiests getting in the way of importing it directly.

Nice.

Yeah, it is basically illegal to get the same exact drugs, made in the same exact plants, fromthe same exact lots from canada thanks to Bush.

Yes the extreme right really has our best interest at heart - he said it was so no one got sick from bad or illegally made drugs. I thought the governement protecting the people from itself was a liberal thing?!?!?

Just lining their pockets based on the troubles and woes of sick people. How people voted for that regime twice is beyond me. Anyone with CH who voted for Bush and cannot get meds cheap should think of stuff like this.

Thank god for our gov in Wi who drafted a law allowing WI residents to cross the border for prescriptions.

Agree that this is an evil practice, but it does not represent the conservatives.  Markets should be free, and true conservatives believe in free and open trade. It's when protectionist laws like this get through that markets fail.

Bush made lots of mistakes. Republicans made huge mistakes.  McCain hit the head on the nail when he said "Republicans went to Washington to bring change, but instead they were changed by Washington."  I totally agree.  Change is needed, but I don't want the kind of change Obama wants. I want the kind of change that McCain is talking about.  I don't fully trust McCain, but he's certainly closer to my beliefs than Obama is.

Ray, The President, be a democrat or republican sure does *propose* legislation. Isn't that what Bush is doing now, proposing congress bail out the economy?

Bill, I myself installed the first of all ethanol blend capable dispensers in Metro Milwaukee and SE WI and IL back in the early 90's, when "Trade Mission" Tommy Thompson was our gov. Those deals came from Tommy, not the current guy.

I am sure you've been aware you've been putting ethanol in your car for almost 20 years now, and this is our govs first term so that doesn't add up. I expect more from you.

[sarcasm] Yeah this guy sucks WAY worse than the guy whose wife and daughter worked the campaigns opposing their father and husband.

I don't think we even want to go down the results of the TT decades.....

Title: Re: Damn Insurance Companies

Sorry, but I disagree

When I worked for Marathon Oil in the late 80's and 90's any population center that had a certain population was too switch switch to ethanol. That is the way it was presented to my by the company.

And the government gave the company the cost of the conversion and an extra bonus for every dispenser that was converted.

So, Tommy rigged it for all cities past a certain population size, (which is why for a long time you could drive to hick-towns to get non-ethanol gas) and it was because
Quote:
he was in the hip pocket of the fucking
oil companies and gave them hundred of thousands of our tax dollars for switching to ethanol. The cost to the oil company: a 30 doallr filter and 15 minutes of 15 dollar and hour wager earner.

Now, if Doyle mandated it for all stations in WI, that is another thing. Not that it matters, once ethanol was in full swing under Tommy most places in SE WI just carried it because it was easier to keep than carrying yet another line of product.

So let's say it wasn't mandated at all. Where the hell are you getting non-ethanol gas in metro-milwaukee the last 20 years? If Doyle did mandate in the last couple years it is mostly a moot-point based on *what the market has brought to bear*.

Your post sure sounded like to me that WI was ethanol free until Doyle was gov, when for all intents and purposes a republican gov had it installed for most of SE WI decades ago. If saying that Doyle mandated the remaining smallest population centers in the state so they match the rest of the state makes you feel happy, by all means, beat that drum.

If you want to argue over symentics, fine by me. You win. Will you still be pissed if I say "Doyle mandated ALL of Wisconsin to be on ethanol, instead of most of WI be mandated to be on ethanol"?

And him being behind it being a perfectly acceptable alternative fuel *is* BS on his part - you're right he is full of shit. But he is hardly the only one and and there is a laundry list of people ahead of him - democrat and republican.

I am used to republicans jumping in an existing conversation, to bring up only the data that trashes the other guy, while leaving out the the parts of the story that show their sides fault, even when it is more the point than what they interjected, then get bitchy with the person in the existing conversation like they did something wrong by telling the whole story, and then attack the guy personally before leaving after getting the last word in, with the promise that it is the last word, again.

And I knew you'd be back. Let's do this another way………….

Here Tommy MANDATES the use of ethanol, the product his company produces.

Thompson signed the Midwestern Governors' Conference resolution:

WHEREAS, The Clean Air Act requires the use of an oxygenate in reformulated gasoline used in non-attainment areas; and
WHEREAS, This requirement has resulted in important air quality benefits to our nation; and
WHEREAS, The decision of petroleum refiners to use methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) rather than clean, renewable ethanol has resulted in serious degradation of groundwater in some regions; and
WHEREAS, Eliminating the oxygenate requirement is not necessary to allow states to ban MTBE, and would harm efforts to achieve the air quality goals in the Clean Air Act; and
WHEREAS, The United States Department of Agriculture has determined that ethanol can replace MTBE in reformulated gasoline nationwide within three years, without increases in price or supply disruption; and
WHEREAS, The use of ethanol not only reduces toxins and improves air quality, it reduces America’s dependence on imported petroleum and thereby reduces our nation’s trade deficit by some $12 billion over the next ten years, increases farm income by an estimated $1 billion annually, and reduces farm program costs by creating important new markets for grain; now therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the Midwestern Governors’ Conference encourages Congress to maintain its commitment to the federal Clean Air Act by retaining the oxygenate requirement of the reformulated gasoline program and by implementing standards that ensure the opportunity for the use of ethanol blended gasoline in any reformulated gasoline program, thereby preserving the natural environment, protecting the public health and reducing the nation’s dependence upon foreign petroleum.

In a ceremony Tuesday at the City Brewery, Gov. "I think it's a win, win, win situation," the governor said at the ceremony at the brewery's hospitality center. Thompson signed 10 bills into law in La Crosse after signing 12 other measures in Eau Claire earlier Tuesday.

Here's the best - he even want to give more money to the War on Drugs!

Funny coming from a beer drunk!

Thompson is pro-life and has supported a ban on partial birth abortion. He believes felons should not have the possibility of parole and wants more federal funding given to the Drug War. Thomspon instituted a state-wide charter school system in Wisconsin. He is also a big supporter of ethanol.

I know a bit or two about Tommy. A close family friend's brother is a republican judge in WI. I've been around TT plenty of times.

I also worked for a women TT took on his infamous "trade missions". He had the hots for her, adn why not. TT's wife and him were living out the conviences marrage. She lived in one of WI TWO governor's mansions and he lived in the other. They only saw each other for the photo ops. Anyways the point is he would come in the shop and act he was the fucking pope himself. The woman I worked for donated tons of cash to TT's campaign each year. Then she got to go on his trade missions to South America and came back with the best stories and photos of good ol' TT drunk with the latina mama's! What a waste of my tax money - South American parties with latina strippers. Well, only because I wasn't invited. ;)

Then we started to get orders for computers for the school systems in WI. Funny they not once complained they paid upwwards of 5-10 TIMES the price we charged our regular customers. I assume it was my tax money they used to pay for those computers.

How much more do you want to know? I don't think I can find lots of links for the stuff I've lived personally, but if you'd like I can post more of the 144,939 links on Thompsons involvement in ethanol.........

{edit to fix broken link}

So I still say TT got WI on the corn juice as early as the early 90's. I can't find any links for that exact time frame, but the internet really didn't exist back then, or didn't exist like it does now. I'd have to do some real digging and it ain't worth it. Maybe the internet was just Al Gore with a notepad and some paper back then.......

Anyways, I lived part of that legacy back then. At this point you can continue to insinuate I am a liar or spreader of disinformation unopposed, just like you like it. I am done with this one.

And why did you go off on me about ethanol in repsonse to my thanksfullness to be able to get my prescripts from Canada? I think you have some anger issues.

Title: Re: Damn Insurance Companies

Bill, That was the most manipulative and incongruent thing I have seen on the boards to date. I thought last night that I might want to copy your post, but I said to myself “naw, Bill would never go as far as deleting a post just because he lost an honest debate”. You have lowered the bar.

For a recap:

1. You jumped in the middle of my posting to someone (which was on topic) with misinformation that was off-topic, to spite me. With foul language and an aggressive tone towards me. Why? My post was true and relative to the topic at hand. When I post something almost anything that does not conform to your thinking, it seems you feel the need to jump in and attack it, even with off topic comments and foul language.

"You ask for opinions,"
2. My post never asked for opinions. I ask for opinions on CH related stuff, as that is why I am here. I already have all the opinions I need on the current republican party and Tommy Thompson.

"but it seems all you are doing is asking for people to step out from behind the bushes so you can take aim."
3. My post was about my personal experience and was in response to your attacking, misinforming post. So it is cool for you to jump in and attack my post and then tell me I am the bad guy for defending my post (and the attached connotation that I am a liar) when I post true facts that support my claims? Then you delete your misinformation post to try to make me look like the bad guy for posting all the stuff that disproved your original post? Never would have thought it possible from you.

[Edit] More so to your issue of me just "asking for people to step out from behind the bushes so you can take aim."
I was talking about getting drugs from canada. *YOU* are the one who brought up ethanol! YOU. How can what you said of me be true here? Am I psychic?

You started this, not me. Oddly enough you claim I am the one who has the condescending, know-it-all-attitude but then complain I am asking for people to "step out from behind the bushes" (i.e. you mean you here) but it is you who keeps jumping in and correcting peoples' posts, so I have long thought the same of you, hence this latest incident (funny it always works that way). So what don't you like about this last exchange you butted into? The that I am correct, or because you have been the one to be corrected (for once)?

For the record I didn’t have any of the links on hand when the conversation started, just my personal experience. I took the risk of being wrong and having to admit it, like I’ve done in the past on this very board.

You realize you just did the internet equivalent of taking your ball and bat and going home because you didn't get to win?

I could see this behavior from you being acceptable if I had attacked your posts, or I was the one who was incorrect. But getting on someone who is defending themselves from your misinformed and attacking posts is pretty incongruent. Especially since I just linked to facts, it would be different if I engaged you in your mudslinging and was also posting misinformation.
And I'd like to point out that in the last month or so I've admitted you've been correct on this very board or I have been wrong……… I am going to say a half dozen times (though I did not count). How many times have you conceded to me or anyone here lately? Here was a good opportunity, as you are clearly wrong, and instead you deleted the post where you attacked my post with misinformation. Does a "know-it-all" post “Bill is correct”?

I've also recently taken your direct criticism you PM’ed me to heart and changed some posts (admitting and accepting you were correct). What would you have done if I sent you a PM accusing you a being an elitist, due to the sloppy presentation of written word? And then you reply to my correction with "it’s a step in the right direction". Wow. I guess I should have thanked you for your criticism……….Oh wait I did that too (Sep 14th, 2008, 10:11pm “Thanks for pointing that out Bill.”)  I guess I should have also asked what more I should I do to be worthy of your approval. And you call me elite and condescending………. , which there is some truth there – I certainly can be an elitist but my posts are never posted to be condescending. How you preceive the intention behind black and white, no-emotion attached print says more about you as the reader than it does about the writer. The funny thing is lately I have been extra careful with you, posting with smilelys and trying to "play" with you to be your friend, so when you see that as condescending, I am not sure what else I can do.

I guess allowing you beat on my correct posts with your misinformation posts is what you want from me.

And I'd like to point out all of my PMs to you and yours have been positive ones and even included offerings of help during your surgery.

So understand that that whatever issues you have with me, they are just that, YOUR issues. I probably mirror yourself back to you and it pisses you off. I've never taken the liberty of quoting someone's post, and editing it, and then telling them "there I fixed that for you" though you do that often. You seem to fit your description of me to a "T".

Anyone doubts anything written here feel free to go to the “Members” page and look at my last 50 posts. I am sure what I said is there is really there and I am sure if one really wants to keep going back they will find more of the same.

Now I have to survive the onslaught of “how dare he post something in a PM” dogma.

I am a nice, giving person. Yes I am a bit of an elitist from time to time. But I can admit when I am wrong, and I do apologies when I am wrong, and I care enough that when things go wrong I try to square it up with those involved to the best of my ability. I am proud that I have differing views than some people and yet most often we are civil enough to agree to disagree. I also will walk through any door opened in front of me. That’s what this it. I didn’t start this, and I don’t think anything is wrong with finishing it as long as everything is truthful and fully disclosed.

Excellent news Jimmers!

13 years after mine, I still greet a beautiful day by saying
"IT'S A GREAT DAY NOT TO HAVE MY PERIOD!"

Barb will know of what I speak!

Smooches to you both. :-*
