I've been on that road, Cat! There are roads all over that part of NC just like that. You have to be sure not to drop a tire off onto the shoulder, cause there might not be one! My Inlaws live right off of a road similar to that, and they hear crashes fairly regularly, usually at night when someone has had to much to drink.

Cat,
About a quarter mile before the stop sign is where we go hiking up to rattlesnake lodge! Been down that road a thousand times, if you turn to the left there at the stop sign, you are just about 2 miles from the first tunnel at Craggy Gardens, you can park there on this side of the Tunnel and on the left side of the road is a trail that is 1/2 mile straight up to rattlesnake lodge. Watching that clip, made me wish I still had my Gold Wing! Or at least my MG Midget!

Chuck exactly, something SMALLER than a KIA Sedona (aka the tank) and something that GRIPS the road.
John when I get up the courage to go exploring I'll definitely go there. The wreckers is just down Heron Cove Rd. and I kept thinking it would be a kewl place to explore - course, I think I was still in shock. When I mentioned it to Clark at first he said NO, (with some choice words) then the said "we'll have to go, with a big f-ing stick" (he had a very very close call face to face with a rattlesnake in CA so he screams like a school girl everytime he sees a snake LOL) Jerry, all the roads around here are like that's for damn sure - now as for the drinkin' you didn't tell me there was still shine in these hills LOL. For all that's happened (and I could write a trilogy now just from Aug. to now) it's still a beautiful place - but even growing up in the river clay flat part of the east I have never seen PURPLE leaves before, it's gorgeous!!! Cat who still needs another car...preferably one with a place for purses already arranged ;) |
