Here's the info for contacting your representative.

How about a few of us writing up a "dummy" letter so that we can all sound well informed by sending copies of the best one?

If we're serious about what we are saying on this site, let's do something about it.

(OK, so I need help)  :-/

Donna, I don't believe that'll help.  Only thing I can suggest is voting them out of office when their term is up if they went against your wishes as an American.

I wrote letters in the leadup to the bailout and after the bailout.  All they send you is a canned response that supposedly "explains" why they did what they did/did not.  I can post some responses here if you want, but the whole system right now is so imbedded in corruption it's a load of bull.  It's going to take a revolution of the American people to change it.

When I say corruption, that means they are going against the Constitution of these United States with their votes and policies!

There is no need for me to contact my current representative, as she will do nothing for me.  I am more concerned with removing her from office, along with one of my current senators.  The only incumbant I will vote for is Russ Feingold, and if I need him, I just call his local office and they take care of business, or when I see him I talk to him.

Check it out Donna, then you can base your decision just how much clout you want to put into certain politicians...

Just my sick humor on an early Thursday afternoon....

Quote:
Dear,

I’m writing you today to let you know that I am very displeased with your performance as my elected official.

Due to your performance in the last (insert time in office) I have developed a performance improvement plan to help your performance level as my (tax) paid employee.

1)      Prior to any vote on any bill presented to you, you WILL henceforth make available publically all information in regards to said bill to include

a)      the primary purpose of said bill
b)      all “pork” subjects included within said bill

2)      You will make available to all your employers (taxpayers who you represent, and who pay your wages and benefits) an open forum to give input and actually tally’s so that your vote will accurately reflect the majority opinion of your employers.

These actions are to taken by you immediately.  Failure to do so will result in your dismissal by a majority vote at the end of this term.

Yours truly,

One of your (state population) Employers in the state of (insert your state here)

One thing important....Several years ago, I read an article about letters to your reps. It seems that they scan a few emails on hot topics but don't pay much attention. IF you send them a real letter, they always open it.......might be some cash and since there aren't so many and they know that by sending a real letter, they know you're serious. In any case, it's the best way to do it. Use a #10 envelope as well.

sorry.

As I said in another thread.  Any letter..e-mailed,  typed or written in gold ink,  will end up in the round file and be a waste of your time that could have been spent working another job in order to feed your kids, whilst said representatives go to lavish parties, drink 40 yr. old bourbon and have a hooker in their room paid for by us.

Canada is looking nicer and nicer and yes Carol...I can shovel snow real good.  Just need to show this Californian how.

I disagree with Charlie lots, but Im with him on this one. An email is a dime a dozen, a written letter is saying that the folk took time and really means it.

it used to be that way Jonny.  Handwritten letter and all.  It still ends up in the round file.  They may however...have a different round file for hand written letters and then typed letters.   I can see them (letters) now.  Sitting side by side saying WTF are we doing here.

electronic letters go to never-never land.  Only to be seen again by the likes of porn users and super Irish.
