Title: Re: Met Johnny Yesterday! Post by Linda_Howell on Oct 13th, 2008 at 6:16pm Aww, that is so great. Johnny did that steak take up the entire plate like when I was there and he BBQ'd it for us? I am so jealous that I wasn't there to meet you. Mike and Jane are the best host and hostess, aren't they.? Someday I hope to meet you in person also. Ever get to Northewrn Calif. on a run? Linda |

:) Very cool.
I'm a newby to this meeting-another-clusterhead thing, but there's truly nothing like it. One of the most remarkable experiences of my life. All the best, George |

the steak dinner mike cooked for me was only comparable to my grandmothers cooking. mike and jane were very nice. i LOVE to get out and meet with cluster buds. the only problem is i can't log on to the message board via my cell phone so i called up jerry and he conveyed the message. after i lft cushing i headed south to mesquite tx and then went back out to el paso. from there i went to a copper mine in south eastern arizona of some switch back highway that curved around a canyon. the load i picked up there is going to connecticut. needless to say i'm getting some miles finally. i have no idea were i'm heading from one load to the next but freight is slow so i'm not complaining. as soon as i get the pics off my phone i will post them. if i get near one of you i will surely try to get in touch. ;) thanks for dinner mike. meeting with with you and jane beats the hell out of sitting around in a truckstop smoking cigarettes and listening to the cb. i found your neighbors to be entertaining and somewhat interesting. marcus wasn't much different that people you might see around a desert truckstop and your half naked fat neighbor seemed like a nice guy........and he had a nice pair of boobs. in fact it was the first thing i noticed. ;D anyways we'll keep in touch johnny |

Nice sleeper on that 389. Do you have Alcoa's all the way around? I mostly hauled hardwoods and pipe. Do you have a hard time finding loads for that drop deck?
Other than that, looking good kid. Stay in touch more. I hope to see you this Jan. [smiley=smokin.gif] |

the hardest thing about pulling that dropdeck is that it weighs 13500#. full of fuel the whole rig weighs 33800#. freight for anybody is tight as hell right now. even some of the big super fleets like jb hunt and swift have alot of empty trucks sitting in their yards. the taller freight is usually light freight. i pulled a load of machinery out of Chicago to el paso grossed at 42000# at 70 mph in the western states it got 7.2 mph. the load i'm under now is copper plates i pulled out of south eastern arizona. from there to ohio it averaged 6.6 mpg. the only thing that holds me back with the step deck is the weight limit. one of the things we haul is those long ass windmill propellers. 70% of their freight is oversized. i guess they're going to try me out on the regular stuff before they give me the multimillion $$$ superloads. the big stuff pays up to 70 cent per mile. i get 38 cents to dead head. it has a 475 cat in front of a eaton 13 double overdrive with 3.55 rears on 24.5 alcoa rims with 255/70 bridgestones. they told me before fuel went out of sight they ran wide open and could easily do 120mph and still be climbing. now they are 71 mph which if fine with me. allot of companies are going under right now so i'm ticked shitless to have a job like this. |

lewistown is waaaaay up there isn't it. looks like thats about 100 or so miles north of i 94 on us 87. man that is up there. what an interesting and i would say challenging place to live. i've been through montana many times but have never delivered a load to there. with this new company i'm driving for i might eventually make it up there. anythings possible. |
