Hey all I have been suffering with these ungodley headaches since 1991.  I usually get them about every 20-24 months for a time span of 30-40 days.  As most of you know I get them about the same as most several times a day and the worst are at night.  I am currently taking 80mg of verappamil inthe nmorning, 160mg in the afternoon and 160mg before bed.  At the onset I take a maxalt melt 10 mg.  I too find that drinking an obnoxious amount or water has helped.  This mixeture that I am now taking seems to be the best I have ever had.  90% of my headaches are tolerable (meaning i don't want to ram my head into a brick wall).  I have done everything known from Imitrex, oxygen, caffergot, steroids, zomig, you name it I've tried it.  Most of you are like me, you will try anything, give this a try and may god help you as he has helped me.    

I'm glad you've found something that works for you.  When you tried Oxygen, did you try 15 liters per minute or more and a non-rebreather mask?  If not, you should give it another try.

Don't recall the amount of liters, I would venture to say it was less than that.  If I find that the potion I am using now doesn't work anymore, I will certainly try more oxygen.  Thanks,

I Have been suffering for 14 years, i get CH on average twice a year, they last between 40 to 70 days,2-3 daily/ mainly nightly. I have tried almost everything, but now im also on verapamil,  just slightly different doses i also carry round with me a sumatriptan injection, 5mls, this does not always work, but when it does its fantastic, i know most of you will have tried almost everything and will probably see this as a migraine aid, but it is also for CH. mine lasted on average 4 hours a time,  which resulted in 10- 12 hours a day in agony.  now when they work it will last about 20 mins, the only problem is that you do look like a pin cushion for a while. Not trying to teach anyone to suck eggs, but depending on your GP they dont always tell you about the injection as it is so expensive. please dont confuse this with the tablet as that does not work, also on the plus side if you are sick like me, you do not bring up your medication.
