Title: What are you grateful for?
Post by superhawk2300 on Oct 16th, 2008 at 7:58pm
Keeping with my theme of trying to post something positive when things seem to heavy here for me......

I've kept a graditude journal for years. It helps me in lots of ways. Since we have had th kids we started talking about what we are thankful for during dinner every Firday night, trying to instill that value in my kids. It can be quite a revelation what a 3 1/2 year old is thankful for.

I assume everyone is thankful for family and friends, the country, our meds, and this place. What else are you thankful for? I mean where the rubber hits the road. Here are a few examples from my journal. Each day yeild new things that I am very lucky to have when I look back.

I am thankful for: Hot running water (shower), books, 4-wheel drive, the Internet, music, photography

I am grateful for so many things now - it's amazing what nearly crushing yourself in a mini van rollover can make you stop and think about.

Mostly, I'm thankful for music, and hearing my children play it, I'm thankful for my daughter, who, even though we fight, will tell everyone she meets in public that she has the kewlest mom on the planet, and I am grateful for my 16 y/o cat Wiley - and his insidious means of making me pet him and waking me up, I am thankful to simply be alive and watch the colo(u )rs on the leaves change, to be able to appreciate and enjoy the beauty in nature and of those around me.

Oh yeah, and I am VERY thankful for caffeine ;)

The list could go on forever :)

I'm grateful for having the forethought to stock up on many supplies when I had the means to.  Both food and others.

For having some old favorite movies on DVD that I can pop into the puter and watch when I need a pick-me-up.

I'll think of more later...

There are only  130 movies on there and nothing I have interest in.  So it's a mute point, but thanks for trying to help Bro.

There are so many things that I'm grateful for I wouldn't even know where to start.

Right at this moment I'm just glad to be alive and healthy so that I can help my hubby fight through this cluster hell.

Hugs,

Jen

I'm grateful for:

The wisdom of bumper stickers (they ARE the best way to get a pick-me-up)
Three words: MUSIC
caring people
Those I call family and good friends.
Art
Writing
My friends and loved/close ones
The alternate worlds within my mind (Thank you, Cautinia and Meciara!)
The wisdom of women (Women, truly, have more wisdom than men)
And hopefully, the ability to help bring not only America, but the world, to a greater understanding of peace.

...and the latter will probably never happen, sadly. :'(

Haha you're right Oliver, but I'd have to wait untill one of 'em dies and we'll take another one whom we can call Clusterchuck.
At the moment 8 ferrets is A LOT..... though I do know people who have even more.
Or I'd have to rename Billie as his name is almost the same as one of our dogs.

Lol Oliver, that you remembered!

We do this as well sometimes.  Most recently my 3 1/2 year old son said he was thankful for Spiderman, potato chips, Toys-R-Us, and pudding.

I'm thankful for him and his baby sister

There are so many things I'm grateful right now. That's why I begin my days with saying "thank you" and list of as many things I can think of and thank about them before I'll fall asleep.

Basically, I'm grateful about everything.

man one thin i'm grateful for is to have freight to haul. there are hundreds of truck drivers sitting around in truckstops that can't get any freight for days and can't afford the fuel to get home. sitting around at a truckstop smoking cigarettes waiting on some crappy load will drive you nuts. i suppose if i had a laptop and could access some of that internet porn jonny was talking about, it would be more bearable but non the less i'd rather be sitting at home were i can have the real thing and i can get some stuff done.

That despite my stupidity, my 49-year old furnace is still working. I still can't believe that I didn't replace it 20 years ago when I could afford it.

For having met and fallen in love with a beautiful person....

Even if she does use strange ingredients in cooking and has a broom fetish ::)

I guess I am also grateful for CH otherwise I would not have met Helen and all the rest of my extended family :-*

My wife and greatest supporter.
My kids
My grandson
CH.com, without it I probably would have packed it in.
My friends that I have made here, especially the ones I don't agree with,                because they make me think.
DJ
Those who are pain free and stay around here to support the rest of us, esp Charlie, who has been free of this horror and still supports!

I'll leave it at that for now, although there is much, much more.
