Title: Debates! Post by superhawk2300 on Oct 22nd, 2008 at 11:44pm

Let the debate begin! The third party and independent candidates for President will duke it out tomorrow night. At the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C. at 9 p.m. EST. And it will be shown live on C-Span. Ralph Nader will be there. Constitution Party candidate Chuck Baldwin will be there. We've been told that Green Party candidate Cynthia McKinney and Libertarian Party candidate Bob Barr have been invited but haven't committed to attend yet. If you are not in the the DC area, hope you get a chance to watch it live on C-Span. If you get a chance, organize a debate party and watch with friends, family and neighbors. Should be a lot of fun. And the candidates will have a chance to lay out before a national television audience the people-powered platforms that Obama and McCain and the national media ignored during the three Anheuser-Busch sponsored parallel interviews (aka The Presidential Debates.) |

I watched an interview with Ralph Nadar a couple of days ago and he talks pretty down to earth. He knows he's not going to win, but says whoever wins, he'll be on Capital Hill in January raising heck with the new president to get some things changed.
He discussed Energy, Education, Economy and a couple of other things and actually had PLANS for them... I've really never listened to him before and was impressed. Hugs BD |

Barb,
I agree, and I think that is who I am going to vote for. It was nice to hear someone talk about HOW they were going to do something instead of just WHAT they wanted to do (or wished they could so, or might do sometime in the future). |

I've seen Bob Barr and Nader on C-SPAN recently. Barr is always interesting to me...........as all Libertarians. Nader is no doubt right on most things but he ain't loved by anybody.

Since I don't have C-Span2 on my cable and was busy with my kids, I only caught the last 1/2 hour online. From just the tail end I caught, I thought they did a great job on their platforms.

If Obama gets elected (and it looks that way right now), he should get Nadar in there as Education Sec (Nadar has some great ideas on Education - we're sucking hind tit right now on educ. in comparison to the rest of the world) and T. Boone in there as Energy Sec (he's got some good ideas on Energy and how to get it improved toot sweet) and maybe Warren Buffett in as Treasury Sec == that'd be a big start to gettin' things going in the right direction.
I haven't figurered out who needs to be Sec of State yet but I'm working on it.... :) Will send him my suggestions as soon as I have it all figured out... Hugs BD |

I'd rather have Ron Paul as Treasury Secretary.

Ok, I'll give you that one... :) Now we need a diplomat for Sec of State -- that's gonna be a hard one...
