Title: 30 and 40 Year Old Songs ...
Post by ClusterChuck on Oct 26th, 2008 at 4:02pm
You can blame this thread on Cat, with her references to a classic John Denver hit.  It got me flipping through a LOT of old time super stars, that many are unknown of, today.

What are some of YOUR favorites from the 60's and earlier?

Here are just a few of mine:

Donovan, Hurdy Gurdy Man:

DAMN!!!  I could spend all day going through these!  And boy do they bring back memories!  It just bugs the snot outta me as to why I can remember THESE so clearly, but have no idea what I did yesterday ...  I guess, for me, it is not creeping senility ... It's GALLOPING!

LOL!!  Jonny, how did I KNOW you would post something like that!!!  LOL!!!

It is HARDLY a 30 or 40 year old group/song, but I actually did enjoy it.

FYI:

Quote:
DragonForce is a British power metal band formed in 1999. They refer to themselves as "extreme power metal" and are known for fast guitar solos, fantasy-based lyrics, and electronic sounds in their music to add to the "video game metal" effect.

Funny you should mention this.  I heard this one on the radio today, and I swear I haven't heard it in twenty years:

Can't call it a "favorite" or anything, but it sure is a brain worm.

Best,

I like many old songs but I can't pick one favourite ;)

But those I like a lot and remember right now:
Rolling Stones - Paint it, Black (I discovered it not long time ago but I really love it!)
John Lennon - Imagine

Aerosmith - Dream on
Little Richard - Long Tall Sally
The Animals - House of the Rising Sun
The Eagles - Hotel California
Heart - Barracuda
many Queen and few Scorpions songs

If I remember correctly those should be from 60s and 70s, though I also like many songs from 80s and 90s :) Also all of them are very well known, but well... :)

Awww Chuckles if you ONLY knew how many many miles I've danced to "Where the Boys Are"....   Now that's SOME memories...  And the "beat" from the Kingston Trio.... that was MUSIC...

One of the things I love about my class reunions is - we have a guy with a Rock and Roll collection and he always brings it and we play, "Name that Tune" (for prizes). We do REAL good for a bunch of OLD people who can't remember what we had for breakfast -- can sure remember those tunes from the 50s and 60s. Then we dance to the "slow" ones. Well, sometimes we thow a twist in just to see if anyone wants back surgery.....

Thanks for the memories....

Hugs BD

Congratulations, WORTH A SHIT!!!   LOL

You are a better person than I am.  I could not play it back then ... And I STILL can't play it!  LOL

(I was MUCH older than that, when it was a hit ... In 1963 {when it was popular} I was a whole 13 !!)
