Title: 1st Tuesday in November and Australia stops...

For the Greatest Race of All!!!

Forget getting served, the beer taps are closed as every barmaid is glued to the television. Traffic grinds to a halt and telephone lines go dead. Many schools are shut for the day as all Australia holds its collective breath -

Enjoy the the race, Brian.

Never did quite understand the sport, but I know people get worked up about it.

Oh My....hope you stocked up on your...what do you call them there?  "Tinnies"?   ahead of time then Brian.

I am wondering how this day  stacks up against the Kentucky Derby.

????   Do they serve Mint Julips and wear outrageous hats?

Yep, just like the Derby. The ladies use one hand to hold their hats on in the breeze, one hand to hold their skirts closed in the breeze and one hand to carry unbelievably expective cocktails while walking on the turf in stilettos.

Wouldn't miss it for quids.

(Mad Rush to win.)
