I left the house at 6:10, got there at 6:25 and I was 95th in line.
Took an hour.. but I'm counted. |

I won't be going until Jesse gets home from work (he wanted us to go together) at 3pm. Going to be a loooooooooong day! |

I vote later in the afternoon when it thins out. Some of the congregation at the Hillcrest Church don't like taking a chance being in the building when I am.
Pull those levers kids. (still using lever machines here) Charlie |

166th.
I don't feel any better. At all. Honestly, if the line was really long or the weather real bad I might have skipped it. To me participating in this broken exersize is not unlike trying to change the channel on the TV with a broken remote. The more time goes by the more likely I am to just watch what is on the current channel as there is mostly crap on anyways. |

I'll vote during my lunch hour. Jimmers |

I dunno. It would break a long tradition and I have some really stupid local stuff to vote down. It's not so much fun voting for President in such a blue state though. Charlie |

Does the Texas Two Step work in this election -- wonder if we can vote again tonight like we did in the primary????
Oh well - it was a thought... |

Charlie,
I got to vote TWICE. Does that automatically turn me into a Democrat? I feel all jiggly inside. :) (I got to fill in Jen's absentee ballot, but she signed it) -Shawn |
Title: Re: I VOTED! Post by echo on Nov 4th, 2008 at 10:51am
Only took 17 minutes in line on the KS side. My cube neighbor on the MO side stood in line for 2 hours.

Title: Re: I VOTED! Post by George_J on Nov 4th, 2008 at 10:53am
In line at 7:00 for the polls to open at 8:00. Was 45th in line.
Lots of young people in line voting for the first time. Best, George |
Title: Re: I VOTED! Post by FramCire on Nov 4th, 2008 at 10:54am
I voted around 9am when the average age of voter was 112. I didnt mind waiting in line but driving in the parking lot with people who cant see and havent driven in almost a year almost killed me.
Anyway, I waited in my line "A-G" while the other 2 lines had NOONE in them, but the wait was so short it really didnt matter. Go Vote. Even if you write in Gumby. |

My secretay is working the polls so I"ll vote this afternoon. Hopefully the lines will not be long. I've never had to wait in line before, but I'm usually there early with all the farmers and seniors waiting for them to open.
I was talking to my son the other night and he said he got to mail is ballot in. He lives in Washington State. Beth |
Title: Re: I VOTED! Post by DennisM1045 on Nov 4th, 2008 at 12:18pm
I voted at 7:10am shortly after they opened. I had to wait in line 20 minutes.
The is the first time I've ever seen a line. It's a small precinct with only 1000 voters or so. I'm counted... But in this state it won't matter... -Dennis- |
Title: Re: I VOTED! Post by Linda_Howell on Nov 4th, 2008 at 1:39pm I'm leaving to go vote now. If cities knew that this election was going to have a huge voter response because of more registered voters than last election...why can't they just make more polling places available. Churches, schools etc. People waiting in line for hours in the cold and rain just isn't right. Oh excuse me...that would be too logical. ::) |
Title: Re: I VOTED! Post by cash5542 on Nov 4th, 2008 at 1:59pm
I had to wait less than 5 min.!! :)

How about some predictions?
I predict Obama 50.6 McCain 48.1 Obama 325 Electoral votes 154 lawsuits filed over voting issues. |
Title: Re: I VOTED! Post by Racer1_NC on Nov 4th, 2008 at 2:25pm
Just returned from the polls. No wait what so ever. Spoke with a elections official that told me they had long lines early this morning and were expecting lines after 4p today. This is the first election since NC went to expanded early voting so that's made a huge difference with the wait times today....at least in my county. 40+% of the registered voters in the county voted early. Even with that my daughter and I were 502 and 503 today. This turn out is gonna be close to a record here.
Oh.......my county went back to paper ballots.....easier, faster, less chance for confusion and no hanging chads. If you don't understand that by putting a black mark by a name is how you vote for that person.....you don't need to vote, you need to be institutionalized. :D Planning on watching the returns come in with plenty of pizza and a couple beers tonight. Good stuff. B |

I got hit as I was leaving and hit the O2 and imitrex.
When I got to the poll there was no line (in and out in 15 min) ay 3:30. :) I wasted a shot on the down side but did not want to miss the vote. ;) |
Title: Re: I VOTED! Post by midwestbeth on Nov 4th, 2008 at 5:07pm
I went at 3 and there was no line at all. I was in and out in 5 minutes.

Title: Re: I VOTED! Post by ClusterChuck on Nov 4th, 2008 at 5:24pm
I did my duty ... I also wrote in Jonny's name ... I DO want to be first ladyish!
I was getting a hit as I was pulling into the parking lot, so I was sucking on my magic tank. One of the workers saw me, and asked if I was ok. I told them yes, but I just had to suck the O2 until the "attack" was over. He asked if it was a cluster attack! He told me to park right next to the door, and sit there as long as I needed to. As the hit started to come down, he came over, and then he sent over one of the officials, and the official brought a ballot out to me in the car! NO wait, (except to do battle) and never had to leave my car! How cool is that? I got to talk to the guy that recognized the hit, and he said that his brother, in New York, has clusters, so he knew what he was seeing! He gave me his brother's name an email addy. I will see if I can contact him. It is amazing what this condition can do, on the plus side! (There HAS to be a plus side, right? (OK, I'll take off my Pollyanna shoes now ...) BUT, I did vote! Chuck |

I haven’t felt this melancholy on election night since the day I voted for Perot.
Tonight I wish my second choice was Bill Clinton! Rolo…. :-X |

Well, look at the bright side -- in about an hour the polls will start closing and it'll be a long night or a short night.. Right now I'm watching a "House" marathon and we're getting ready to put some steaks on....
May even have a glass of wine. Two long years -- this is kinda a downer for some reason - guess it's the first stages of withdrawal.... :) Hugs BD |
Title: Re: I VOTED! Post by Melissa on Nov 4th, 2008 at 6:46pm
FINALLY!!!! Voted at about 4:00pm. Took a whole 10 min., and only because I had to register (they just started doing that 2 years ago by us). I was number 189 (we have a population of about 500 people). [smiley=grin2.gif]
YAY!!!!!! |
Title: Re: I VOTED! Post by George_J on Nov 4th, 2008 at 6:56pm
Voting's reportedly heavy here. El tells me that most of her classmates who are eighteen planned to go vote immediately after school. Seems to be a lot of interest among the young people. I don't think El's senior class could have picked a better year to take Government and Economics. ;)
Could be an interesting evening here...this is the reddest of red states, so I have little doubt how the vote will come down, but the Democratic caucus earlier this year drew thousands of people--and it went 80 % for Obama. It may be somewhat closer than expected. Big issue for me, though, is our local and statewide races. Not to mention that there is a certain weasel candidate for US Senator that I took great pleasure in voting against. Whatever happens in the Senate race, though, toe-tappin' Larry Craig is history. Best, George |

It has been awhile since I posted anything at all here even though I come and read frequently. I voted today but for none of the canidates on the ballot. I felt that none were worth wasting my vote so I wasted it on myself and wrote my name in.

Predictions? I'll go out on a limb and say 338/200 Obama. Could be conservative, but I don't think we'll see anything as lopsided as 400. Maybe I'll go watch the dervishes spinning over at Faux News until some more results come in. ;) Best, George |

We're sad here because this is the last year New Yorkers can use the old heavy lever-voting machines. They were made here and it was a big industry. I can see it now. They will wind up on ebay.
