Title: This makes no sense to me
Post by echo on Nov 10th, 2008 at 5:27pm
I'm asked to re-size my department to support my customer base by the end of the week.  Oddly, the departments I support are going through reductions, off-shoring and out-sourcing that will not be decided until mid December.

How can I size on a vast unknown and be anywhere near accurate? I'm no rocket sciencetist but my double masters says this is impossible.  I'm no fortune teller, but I see the hand writing on the wall and my department is on the chopping block.

On that positive note -- back to your regulary scheduled programming.

Do what others have done.are doing.  Ask them to give you either a % of payroll or of bodies.

It's at least a firm starting point.  Never easy, but at least it's something.
