I did my 5 min. this morning, wasn't as bad as yesterday but I am finding it is much harder to pedal during the last minute? LOL
Maybe the bearing needs to be greased. [smiley=grin2.gif] |

Jen! Hubby fixed the chain on my bike yesterday, wow what a difference!
I did 11:31 minutes and biked for 4.03 miles. [smiley=grin2.gif] I have a tendency to exercise longer anyway listening to music, (didn't have the mp3 player on me the first 3 days) especially when I play Missy Elliott's "Lose Control". How YOU doin today?? :D |

WOW!!!!! You go girl. You were really busting it out.
I just got home from work about 45 minutes ago. I'm going to go sleep for awhile, then I'll be huffing away. I always listen to my ipod when I'm working out. Lose Control is a good tune to work out to. One of my favorites is U & UR Hand by Pink. |

I just got done. 23 minutes, 4 miles. A couple other songs that came on my ipod while I was huffing away were The Whistle Song by Juelz Sanatana and Figured You Out by Nickelback. They really got me moving.
My thighs and buns are burning. No pain, no gain ;D |

Since mountain biking has come to an end :( I am now working out on the Wii Fit.
The Wii fit can be quiet mean. But it is a lot of fun. The Super Hula Hoop is the best. Still nothing beats biking. Long winter ahead. |
Title: Re: Mel..... Post by Melissa on Nov 14th, 2008 at 9:11am
Not sure if I want to exercise today as Eli is home off school (I'm very self conscious). :-/
Jen, sounds like you're doing GREAT! Jonny, thank you for the cheerleading. :-* Chuck, only YOU. ::) Angie, a Wii Fit would be so cool to have! I'd like nothing better than to have different options of "working out" as I tend to steer clear of things that are monotonous. |

Have you ever tried Spinning? It is a cycling class that simulates mountain biking. I have never been "real" mountain biking but the Spinning class I take is the most challenging work out I have ever done. I take it at the Y. You might like it while you can't get out on your bike. The Wii Fit is kinda mean. My friend has one. I won't get on it! Jeannie |

I used to have a trainer for my bike, now that is a workout. We do have spinning classes here so I will check it out. Sold the trainer because it was boring. Like Melissa said I need variety, with mountain biking I am everywhere never boring especially when I fall and get back on and try again. The Wii fit is not kind to your weight even when you are in shape. Mel you would love it, there are so many different exercises you are never bored. Just did 35 minutes before I go to work. Keep fit everyone. |

Damn skippy. I want a Wii ;) I hope your still paying attention to this thread my love :-* Mel I think that I'm going to just do an upper body workout today. I have some of the Firm workout DVD's and I have one where you can do either upper or lower body weight training. My legs need a rest today. I have Dance Dance Revolution for the Xbox 360, but I scare the shit out of the dogs when I'm doing it. Plus Phil is sitting there watching me and I feel like a huge uncoordinated idiot ;D |
Title: Re: Mel..... Post by Melissa on Nov 14th, 2008 at 12:58pm
Well Jen, that's way more than I've done today, lol. We had Eli's parent teacher conference this morning and since then I've sat on my bum snacking on peanuts, dried & salted peas and pepperoi chips with sour cream. :-[ (yummo!)
|
Title: Re: Mel..... Post by Jeannie on Nov 14th, 2008 at 4:02pm
Don't you fret about snacking today Mel....... Yesterday, after feeling so blue, I had myself a good cry. Then I went to my Spinning class and, on the way home, I stopped and bought some Eggnog and ice cream. I made myself the biggest ol Eggnog shake and enjoyed every ounce of it while I watched ER.
You enjoy yourself! You're entitled now and then! Jeannie |
Title: Re: Mel..... Post by flipperlips on Nov 14th, 2008 at 4:14pm
Mel don't feel bad about snacking, you need to sustain your energy now that your working out.
Christmas came early to me. We just went out and bought a Wii and the Wii fit. We don't have it hooked up yet, but when I get a chance to use it I'll let you know how it is. |

Hells Bells. That Wii Fit is mean. I step on the thing and it goes OHHHH, like I'm a total fat cow or something, WTF :P
Angie, you are right. The Super Hula Hoop is sooooo fun. I think the step is kindda fun too. Phil's mom called him while I was on it and he told her that we bought a Wii. She told him that they had already bought us one for Christmas. How crazy is that. |

Jen I am glad you got the Wii Fit. Yes IT IS MEAN but once you get past the initial insult it is a lot of fun.
35 minutes this morning and then doing a 10hr shift at work I am hurting tonight. Mel, you need one of these, makes exercise a lot of fun. |
Title: Re: Mel..... Post by Melissa on Nov 15th, 2008 at 8:54am
I wish I could get one, but finances being what they are (and Jesse being laid off for 22 days this Nov/Dec, there's no way of it happening.

I haven't gotten up enough energy yet today to do some more. I was up for a about an hour and half this morning with Maggie having her puppies. I couldn't stay awake so Phil stayed with her and I went back to bed. As soon as I get moving I'll let you know how I did today. |

All this talk about exercises makes me feel bad for taking a few days off from mine - and I do only yoga! ;D
But I've been walking and standing every day at work, sooccasionally my feet are killing me... That's my excuse! ;) Keep on going, girls! :) Sanna |
Title: Re: Mel..... Post by flipperlips on Nov 15th, 2008 at 10:25am
Hi Sanna. You need to take days off every once in a while. It's good for the body to get rest.
I believe that yoga is a very difficult workout. I've tried it so many times and I totally suck at it. Plus my balance is so far off, which is why I have such a hard time with it. |
Title: Re: Mel..... Post by Melissa on Nov 15th, 2008 at 10:47am
Sanna, don't feel bad! I am quite a sedentary person, so I really have to push myself to put in some kind of routine. I have decided that I'm going to just stick to the every other day thing though, I don't want to burn myself out right off the bat!
Jen, doesn't your Wii have the yoga thing too? Try that out and tell me how it goes, lol. ;) |
Title: Re: Mel..... Post by flipperlips on Nov 15th, 2008 at 4:18pm
Yep it has the yoga thing on it. I did all of the poses that I have unlocked and I didn't do to bad. I need more practice.
I spent 61 minutes on that thing today. I did hula hooping, boxing, step, balance excercises, strength exercises and yoga. I'm gonna be very sore tomorrow ;) |
Title: Re: Mel..... Post by Angie on Nov 15th, 2008 at 6:42pm
I have tried the Yoga like Jen I need more practice, I love the hula hoop and I do the running. Mel and Jen good for you both today. Just got off work hoping to do 30 minutes tonight.
Sanna you deserve a day off. Happy exercising everyone. |

If I do any working out today it won't be much. That Wii is making me hurt in places I didn't know that I could hurt. That must mean I'm getting a good workout :D I haven't tried the long distance run yet, the short one about killed me the other night when I did it. |

I feel ya Redd about not having a garage. Phil and I have lived in this house for almost 7 years and this will be the first year that I have a garage, thanks to all of his hard work putting an addition on the house. Good Morning All
Just did a 30 minute workout on the Wii before I go to work for a 10 hour shift. The Wii was happy with me today because I lost 4 1/2 pounds. Ya Hoo Way to go Mel you will make your goal. :) |
Title: Re: Mel..... Post by flipperlips on Nov 17th, 2008 at 10:10am
I got home from work and thought what the hell, I'll get a little bit of working out before I go to bed. So I worked out for about 20 minutes and did the body test on the Wii and I'm convinced that the damn thing hates me. It told me that I gained 3.1 pounds :'( Must've been that sandwich I ate yesterday.
Hopefully, I will get a little more working out in when I get up in about 9 hours. I obviously need it :'( Congrats you guys on the weight loss, I'm sooooo proud of you [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif] Welcome to the CH weight loss club Mast, we're happy to have you :-* |

Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by Angie on Nov 18th, 2008 at 8:36am
Love the new team name.
Going on the Wii soon to do 30 minutes before going on shift. I have been taking Lean Cuisines to work for my dinners, and when I get home I have rices chips, trying to keep portions low. Not much in those dinners but it fills the gap. Need to lose 25lbs before the new biking season begins. I have till April 2009. Happy exercising everyone |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by flipperlips on Nov 18th, 2008 at 9:23am
Good morning ladies :-* Glad you're loving the new team name.
I got home from work this morning and spent 45 minutes on the Wii. Did a little aerobics, a little strength, a little balance and a lot of yoga. I think I'm starting to like yoga a bit. I'm getting a little better at it. The one super huge change that I made in my diet is that I have, for the most part, given up my Coke and Dr. Pepper for Diet Pepsi. I'm a super picky eater so I'm trying (key word here is trying) to excercise some portion control. Sometimes (okay most times) it's hard when the food is just so good :D My goal is to be in size 10 jeans by the time St. Louis rolls around :o It would be even better if it were a size 8, but we'll see. Em and Mast - how's it going? Jump on in the water's fine. Keep up the good work ladies. WE CAN DO THIS!!!!!! |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by Angie on Nov 18th, 2008 at 9:38am
Good workout today, now I am ready to do battle with the public.
Jen you will make and surpass your goal. My love is Mayonnaise, on everything. That was hard to give up, but I DID. Oh and cookies, chocolate bars. I buy this thing called Chocolate Fix. 1gram of fat, 90 calories very good. Solves my chocolate cravings. Everyone keep up the good work. |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by flipperlips on Nov 18th, 2008 at 9:45am
We are all going to shatter our goals, I just know it!!!!
Angie, do you do the body test everyday or just once a week? |

Feeling bad today ..... I didn't exercise at all Fri. Sat. Sun. OR Mon! I need to get with it ! Can I join your team to help me stick to it?
Are you guys dieting as well or just getting moving? I have real trouble watching what I eat. Keep up the good work! Jeannie |

Hi Jen Right now I am doing the body test once a day. Can't help myself, must know if I am bring down the BMI. Maybe later when I get closer to the goal I will do it once a week. Come and join us Jeannie. I am also watching my portions and staying off chocolate. I have done this before and lost 70lbs but oh how it creeps back up. Only 25 to lose this time. Everyone welcome, this is good inspiration. |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by flipperlips on Nov 18th, 2008 at 9:51am
Hi Jeannie and welcome to the team. This has helped me stick with working out soooo much. I would've given up after this first day if we weren't pushing each other.
Don't beat yourself up over missing a few days of working out. Sometimes the body needs to rest. Just pick up where you left off. I'm not really dieting too much. I switched to drinking diet pop instead of regular which is huge for me. I still indulge in a Coke or Dr. Pepper, but I'm mostly drinking water and Diet Pepsi. I'm not watching what I eat too much, just trying to control my portions, but I love to eat. |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by flipperlips on Nov 18th, 2008 at 9:55am
I've been doing the body test everyday too. To get into the normal BMI range I have about 16 lbs to lose.

Ok, took Ava to the doc this morning, seems she has Roseola (lovely). She's doing well now and resting. :) Hubby took us to IHOP for breakfast, I had eggs, bacon, hashbrowns 1 slice toast and coffee. That is really good for me as I am usually lured in by the pancakes and waffles. My diet consists mainly of no wheat products (very few exceptions, like when we dine out), no sugar and as many whole foods as possible. I'm going to be dry roasting some peas this afternoon because I am addicted to them now as a snacking food. :-[
Today is an off day for me for exercise. I don't think my butt could handle the beating every single day of sitting on that damn bike! LOL Jeannie- of course you're welcome to join us! Jen & Angie- is that one of those weight scale things? George- you gotta be shittin me, LMAO Mich- you going to do his plan again? I say if it has worked before, all the better to attempt it again only to make sure it's for life, ya know? ;) BTW, any men can join us iffin they want! We will not judge yew. 8-) |

Mel I hope that Ava feels better soon. Good for you taking a day off. Hearing about your breakfast is making my mouth water. YUM!!!!
Mast I hope that your tooth is feeling better. The Wii balance board tells you your weight and BMI if you go through the body test. It's cool because it tracks your weight loss for you. |

Every time you eat that motabulizzzzzum thing kicks in and starts burning the crap, the thing is, is that you have to keep each meal to a half of sandwich or to that effect......I dunno...worked for me. Yes, I have fat pants.....LOL ;D |

AAWWWW, Feel better Ava. You too Mast! I hate the dentist!
I went to the Y last night and took a 45 minute Spinning class. The teacher is very good on Tuesdays. I sweated my butt off! ( hopefully literally!) I'm feeling pretty sore today. If I miss a couple of days I really feel it when I go back! My problem right now is that I keep losing and re-gaining the same four pounds! I do well all week then mess it up on the week end! I would be happy if I could just lose ten lbs! My friends lost 90 and has kept it off and I can even keep four off! LOL! Happy exercising! Jeannie Edit to add: Jonny... Your "fat pants" would probably still be too small for me! BTW.... YOU SUCK!!!!!!!!! ;D |

Morning! Ava is doing much better, her rash is gone now. She's napping for the moment so I can catch up inbetween her and cooking. :)
I got my 15 min. in this morning before Ava woke up. I lightened the resistance a bit so I wouldn't feel so beat up afterwards. Right now I have cheesy potatoes in the oven (sans topping) and will be frying up some cajun porkchops w/olive oil for lunch. I also made a strawberry apple crisp (with Splenda) for dessert. Anyone mad at me yet? LOL! Jonny, kiss my fat ass, LMAO :-* Holy crap Jeannie, 45 min? I'd of fallen off my bike 1/2 way in! Jen, at least you only have 16 to lose. I have more than that, but I'm going to try this time at focusing on being comfortable in a lose fitting size 14 jeans. |

I already blew it for the day. Nothing I do is working out right, so I said screw it and ate 2 candy bars from a box Eli is selling for school. :-[ |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by PollyPocket on Nov 19th, 2008 at 5:03pm
good for body and mind and rage issues (I have plenty).......
hit the gym and beat the shit outta some raquetballs. Visualize faces on them. Call them by name. Often. Loudly. Keeps the 4's fitting nicely ;) |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by Em on Nov 19th, 2008 at 6:10pm
Girls, this is awesome! You are kicking some butt! Mel, we all fall off the wagon. That's why we're on it the first place!!
Mast - I've got Paul McKenna's book and CD. I don't think I gave it a fair chance, but am going to start when I've unpacked it. Whilst I've done no structured exercise, in 2 days I've packed my house up, moved it onto a van, scrubbed it clean for my new tenants and dragged a carpet shampooer through the whole house. My body aches like I did a marathon. And all I ate today (before going to a friends house for curry) was 2 pieces of liquorice, a scotch egg and a McD's hot apple pie. Surely I burned more calories than I took on!!! :) Think I convinced my honey to get me Wii Fit for Christmas too! Then I'll be joining in on the yoga moves for sure. Em x |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by flipperlips on Nov 19th, 2008 at 6:57pm
Em, packing up and moving and doing and all the things you have been doing over the past few days probably burned more calories than I did working out. I hope hubby gets you the Wii Fit for Christmas. It's so fun.
Sorry you had a sucky day Mel. Your workout burned off those candy bars ;) Plus being a mommy and chasing the kids around burns plenty of calories, I'm sure. Jen, on the Wii Fit there's a boxing excercise and I do the same thing with that, that you do with raquetball. A size four.....I can only dream. |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by flipperlips on Nov 20th, 2008 at 8:10am
Good morning!!!!!
I got in 20 minutes this morning when I got home from work. That's all I could muster after a busy night of running around at work. I'm so tired this morning [smiley=sleep.gif] [smiley=sleep.gif] [smiley=sleep.gif] One more night then I have a four day weekend, Woooohooooooo!!!!!!!! How are ya'll doin'????? |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by Melissa on Nov 20th, 2008 at 8:54am
Em, wouldn't that be a great Christmas present?? Sounds like you got quite the workout even though you didn't go near a piece of exercise equipt., lol.
Jen, have lots of fun on your long weekend! Anything fun planned? As for me, today was supposed to be an off day, but I felt really bad after letting myself go whole hog yesterday, so I did 15 min. on the bike this morning. :-[ Hubby and I will be going into town in a little while to pick up some new piping parts due to him screwing up the connections from the outdoor boiler to the water heater. Tis OK, he can weld in a jiffy, LOL. Hope everyone has a terrific Thursday! :) BTW- I am already seeing results. My t-shirts fit better, I no longer have to stretch them out before putting them on to fit better around my hips and my size 16's are now comfortable and I no longer have rolls spilling over the sides. 8-) |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by Jeannie on Nov 20th, 2008 at 10:05am
Mel!!!! That is so great that you are seeing results! Keep it up, girlie!
Jen a size four is great! My goal is a six. I did a 45 min Spinning class again last night. Will try to make it to one tonight too. Morgan is sick so we'll see. Hugs to you all! Jeannie |

Wow you ladies are doing great.
Tried the boxing tonight but Buck started to fight me back got very distracting. It was a lot harder to do 30 minutes after work, Buck's awake and wants to play, sometimes he plays dirty and it hurts. Shit head. :P I am shooting for a size 8 by spring. Happy exercising everyone. :) |

Mel - we don't have anything fun planned. Phil hasn't been sleeping so good and he's getting hit like crazy. Plus we got a shit load of lake effect here today >:( and it's supposed to continue into tomorrow, so we'll probably just stay close to home. Like I said my short term goal is to be in a size 10 by St. Louis. My 12's are starting to fit a lot better. Oh Jeannie, I don't know sweetie! What has your diet intake been like? Are you varying your workouts enough? Have you gotten your thyroid checked? *hugs*
As for me, today sucks again, LOL! I already blew it with a bowl of ice cream and 2 chocolate bars. There is a good reason tho, and I bet you ladies can guess what it is! Here's a hint: I tend to cry at nothing and am retaining water. lmao I will say though that I did my 15 min. again this a.m. I'll get back on the bike on Sunday. I'm taking Saturday off!! :P |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by flipperlips on Nov 21st, 2008 at 5:11pm
Oh Jeannie!!!!! I'm with Mel on this one. Sometimes a change up in your workout is all you need. The body will get used to the workout and not change much. A simple change in diet could be it too. Or it could be your thyroid.
Oh Mel, good for you getting your workout in. Who cares if you had some ice cream. I think that your entilted, so you have a visitor. BTW, I don't have that problem anymore that you speak off. Thank goodness :-* I got 20 minutes in on the Wii this morning. I don't know what my problem is this week. I've been so exhausted when I get home from work that I really have to push myself to get that much in. We got a crap load of snow that I should go out and shovel, so that will get my heart a pumpn'. |

Does any one know if diet sodas really do cause you to not loose weight? I am on day three of trying to give it up. It is the only thing that I can attribute my lack of weight loss to! I drink coffee in the morning and then go straight to Diet Coke. I have been replacing the DC with water since Sun. Haven't had a drop of soda since Sat. It is killing me! If I don't see results soon I'm giving up!
Jeannie |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by Em on Nov 25th, 2008 at 2:32pm
Hey Jeannie,
I don't think diet drinks will help lose weight because there's still a heck of a lot of sugar in them, just in a different form. Water is def your best bet!! I was told that when your body gets used to an exercise, it stops burning lots of calories. Maybe you just need a little change in the routine - 20 min power walk or a bit of a swim. I was doing a body combat class and in the 1st 6 weeks, lost 2lbs every week, then after that I lost nothing because my body got used to it. When I get back on the wagon this week, I'll be trying 2 different types of exercise to maintain the weight loss. I've also signed up for WeightWatchers. Want to lost about 20 - 25 lbs sharpish. That'll get me back to 125lbs. By the wedding?? Prob not, but one can hope!! Em xx PS - I found the most amazing bakery here. 2 days in a row, we've had cakes and pastries. I'm too weak!!! Can't wait to go to work so I can take my mind off eating! |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by flipperlips on Nov 25th, 2008 at 6:00pm
Okay ladies, I'm soooo pissed. I got home from work this morning and was going to turn on the Wii and nothing. Phil told me that our power went out last night and something happened to my Wii. He tried to take it back to the store, but they said that it's been over seven days and they won't take it back. They told us to leave it unplugged for 24 hours and maybe it would reset itself. WTF????? It better work.
Anyway, I'm trying to get my fat ass motivated to get off the couch and hop on the elliptical. It just isn't as much fun as the Wii. Anybody have some extra motivation for me? I really need some. |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by Melissa on Nov 25th, 2008 at 6:07pm
Jeannie, if you ask me, diet sodas are even worse than regular. Besides, the artificial sweeteners can stall some people.
Jen- that really rots! What store did you get it from? I never heard of an only 7 day one, I thought the usual was 30 days?? |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by flipperlips on Nov 25th, 2008 at 6:11pm
We got it at Game Stop. If that thing doesn't work tomorrow when we plug it back in I'm gonna raise hell. I'm so irritated right now. I guess I should use that irritation and put it to good use. I'm gonna hop on that ellipictal right now ;)

Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by flipperlips on Nov 25th, 2008 at 6:57pm
Good to know Angie. I better let Phil handle it because when I'm pissed I really let loose. He's calmer than I am and he doesn't raise his voice like I do, LOL!!!!! He gets nasty in a calm voice.
I just busted out 20 minutes on the ellipictal. I went balls out for 20 minutes. LOL!!!!! Go Mel Go. I'm to pooped this morning, I'm going to bed for, hopefully, eight hours. Then hopefully the Wii will be working and I'll get in a bitchen' workout. I guess even if the Wii isn't working, I'll still get in a workout.

Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by flipperlips on Nov 26th, 2008 at 7:23pm
Geez, why can't I get more than 6 fricken' hours of sleep. UGHHHH!!!
Anyway, the Wii is back up and working. I guess leaving it unplugged for 24 hours worked. I got in a good 20 minutes and the good ol' weight and BMI is slowly creeping down. Too bad I'll probably gain it all back tomorrow >:( |

Yes, A happy Thanksgiving to everyone.
Today I am going to figure out how to work on that Dance Revolution. Barry is at work so I won't have an audience, that will make it easier, I hope. Eat lots today, for today is your free day for food. Enjoy |

yes, Happy Thanksgiving Hogs!! [smiley=grin2.gif]
Now let me say how FRUSTRATED I am!! LOL I feel like a big balloon every day now, and am wondering if it has to do with all the salted peanuts I've been eating. :-[ I should have known better, not only do they make me retain water, but they stall my weight loss. But I need a snack really bad! I am such a snacker. I suppose I'll have to order some freeze dried peas off the net as I cannot make them myself. *sigh* I am so envious of you girls and your Wii's!!! They sound like so much fun! |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by Angie on Nov 27th, 2008 at 9:27am
Melissa, the Wii is a lot of fun. Hope you can get one in the near future. As for now your exercising on the bike is great. Good Cardio workout.
As for peanuts and such, I bought a bag of Cashews, for a measly 1/4 cup it contains 210 calories, 16g of fat. My body loves fat, stores it well. I will save those for Christmas, very good to eat with Rosebuds. Yum. |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by Em on Nov 27th, 2008 at 5:42pm
Good work to all! It's great to see. At my new place of work, I have to park my car on the top floor, walk doen 6 flights of stairs and then up 2 to my desk. At the end of the day, it's back up those 6 flights of stairs!! What's that worth? 1/2 a Mars bar?? ;)
Pay day tomorrow - hoping to get Wii fit!! |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by flipperlips on Nov 28th, 2008 at 10:03am
Em it sounds like it's a workout just to get to work ;)
I got in 30 minutes this morning. Body test pissed me off all to hell. Damn myself for all that eating yesterday. A little voice inside my head told me that I'd have to work it off ;) I should've listened!!!!!! |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by flipperlips on Nov 29th, 2008 at 3:57pm
I just go in a 40 minute workout. The body test was much better today. It must be time to shake things up. I keep hovering around 13 pounds to lose. My jeans are fitting a lot better and I'm starting to see some definition in my abs. I'm getting some curve back.
How's everyone else doing? Haven't heard from ya in a couple days. |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by Melissa on Nov 29th, 2008 at 4:02pm
Not doing good here. :( I can't control my eating and binge on stuff that's bad for me. The lowcarb route just isn't working this time around due to my very bad sweet tooth. I will probably have to switch to counting calories and low fat which I HATE. The stuff tastes like saw dust. [smiley=hurl.gif]
I'm very depressed over my weight and need to get into a good diet eating plan, but I'm lost over where to start. Any suggestions?? :'( btw Jen, glad the Wii is working again! :) |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by flipperlips on Nov 29th, 2008 at 4:19pm
Oh Mel :'(
I'm not good at giving dieting tips, because I'm such a picky eater. I like what I like and that's what I eat. It's so hard for me to watch what I put in my mouth. Which is why I keep hovering at the same amount of weight to lose. I think part of my problem is I eat too much at meal time. Maybe I should follow Jonny's advice and eat six times a day. Sometimes just subtle changes in your diet can make a huge difference. Lowering sodium content, switching to lowfat stuff. Have you ever thought about trying some of the slimfast bars? They have a chocolate brownie one that's pretty good. Not as good as the real thing, but maybe that would help with the sweet tooth. Detour makes a bar that tastes a lot like a Snickers, it you like those. IMO, if you crave something, eat it. Just do it in moderation. I hoped that helped a bit, I suck at dieting advice. Now smile, Mel :) :) :) :) :) |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by Em on Nov 30th, 2008 at 6:43am
Melly - I'm exactly the same. I have no willpower when it comes to bad foods. I just want sweets all the time. I am feeling a little stuck too. It's hard because my OH loses weight like no one's business (in the 2 weeks we've been moving and moved, he's lost 8lbs. He only weighed 168lbs before! B*stard) so he always eats - picking constantly at nuts and snacks and chips and I want it all too... I on the other hand, haven't lost any weight, but I dare not get on the scales.
One thing I have been trying (not sure if it'll work or not yet) is before my main meal, I'm eating a big salad with dressing or whatever I want on it - just plain (no meat). Then when I get to whatever I've cooked, I'm almost full, so I have just a little piece of lasagna with 4 different cheeses, or a small portion of chicken with a few fries so I'm not missing out. Still no Wii Fit... :( All sold out here!! I found this website with lots of different things to try. Might be worth having a look. I'm taking the day off. I'm rebelling. My body says it needs to rest. I'll be back at it tomorrow.

Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by Em on Nov 30th, 2008 at 6:32pm
A rest day is a good thing. Let your body recover so tomorrow you can get back on feeling strong. Went on a 20 min powerwalk with the dogs today.
Better than nothing, right? |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by flipperlips on Nov 30th, 2008 at 7:16pm
Go, Em, go. Good for you. I'm thinking about going out to shovel the snow. That's a little bit of activity, right?
Mel is it snowing across the pond too? |

We're under a winter weather warning. I'm a little nervous having to go to work tonight. A good thing Phil fixed the truck on Friday. At least I'll have 4 wheel drive ;)

Our storm has now arrived. Yuk.
Have not been on the Wii Fit since Thursday. Worked long hours all weekend. This time of year I am on the floor helping so lots of running. Had lean cuisines for lunch and dinner so I am hoping the Wii will be nice tomorrow for the BODY TEST. Just got home and I am starving, going for Toast and peanut butter. |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by flipperlips on Dec 1st, 2008 at 9:37am
Well, I made it to work and home safe and sound. The roads sucked, but I just took my time.
I got in a good 45 minutes this morning. The body test said that I gained .9lbs. I guess that's not soooo bad considering that your body weight can fluctuate (is that how you spell that big word) 2 lbs a day. Oh well, I get back at it tomorrow. |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by flipperlips on Dec 2nd, 2008 at 10:50pm
Okay, ladies this party of one isn't fun, LOL!!!!!
Do any of you watch The Biggest Loser? I actually got pissy when they were talking about what size some of those women were wearing. This one chick they said was wearing a size 14. I'm sorry but there was no way in hell that woman was a size 14. Anyway, I did get 30 minutes in this morning. |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by Melissa on Dec 3rd, 2008 at 7:59am
I wish I was a 14. :(
I'm sorry, but for some reason I am just not getting anywhere with my weight. I'll keep up with the biking, but weighing myself is getting depressing. In the time I've been doing this I lost a whole 2lbs. Pathetic. :-[ I wish I was more enthusiastic right now! |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by flipperlips on Dec 3rd, 2008 at 10:32am
Let's turn that frown upside down. I haven't lost much weight either Mel. Remember awhile ago the Wii told me that I had 13 pounds to go to make my goal. Now it says I have 14.1 to go. But....my clothes are fitting better and my belly is starting to shrink. So even though my weight isn't changing my body is. Weight is just a number, just like age.
|
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by Melissa on Dec 4th, 2008 at 8:52am
You're right Jen, it's how the clothes fit, not the number on the scale. I knew that but it's sometimes frustrating not weighing myself as the last time I lost a load of weight I was weighing myself EVERY morning. :-[ BTW, I do have size 14 jeans that I fit into, but not comfortably if you know what I mean.
Which brings me to this morning, LOL. I dropped 2lbs overnight. We'll see if it stays off or not when I reweigh on Monday (my weekly weigh in day), but I must say I DO notice a difference in my body. Especially my legs, they are getting much stronger! Hubby seems to like them too. [smiley=bigguns.gif] ;D I've also decided that it's too big a change to go to low fat, so I'm going to still try to stick to the no flour, no sugar and whole foods route. Once I get where I need to be, I want to be able to maintain for life, so a drastic altering in way of eating isn't really a good idea for me. One question though, how is everyone going to handle the holidays and all the goodies??? :o |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by Angie on Dec 4th, 2008 at 9:10am
Had to return the Dance Revolution because it did not work. It frustrated me for days, my friend came over and she has one at home, she tried it and said there is something wrong with the game pad. So I returned it and got a new one. Works great. Just did 30min on it and I am one big sweat bucket.
As for the Holidays, I work retail so the only day I get off is Christmas day. I will save the sweet eating day for Christmas, other than that I will continue to take Lean Cuisines to work for lunch and dinner. I will get time off in February, after inventory is over. Have not lost any weight but the clothes fit better. Don't forget that muscle is heavier than fat. So do not despair about the scale you are gaining muscle. Keep exercising everyone. |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by flipperlips on Dec 4th, 2008 at 10:43am
That's a good point about muscle weighing more than fat. I never even thought about that.
As for Christmas, I don't like many desserts. My problem is eating the skin on the deep fried turkey that my dad makes every year. Plus the mashed potatoes, ham and all that stuff. My mom makes one dessert that I really like, so I'm going to give myself permission to eat all I want and deal with the consequences later. I got in 30 minutes this morning. The body test says that I'm down slightly. I had someone at work say that my scrubs are looking a little baggy on me, so that's a great thing. Keep at ladies. We are going to look fabulous :-* |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by Em on Dec 4th, 2008 at 3:05pm
Weighing yourself every day is one way to definitely a one way ticket to the downers...
I'm not weighing myself at all at the moment. When I get Wii Fit (think it's my Christmas present!), I guess I'll have no choice. If you do have to weigh yourself, pick a day of the week and do it on the same day at the same time once a week. You should see a true reflection of any weight loss then. Don't forget, if you've only started exercising it takes your body a little while to kickstart and get going - give it 6 weeks. Your metabolism will have increased and you will start to see a difference!! For Christmas, I'm going to let myself have what I want, but am going to have to pick up the exercise in order to do that. It's the only way to treat myself without beating myself up with guilt for eating what I want. As long as I don't put weight on, I'll be happy!! Keep going girls! Em x |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by Melissa on Dec 5th, 2008 at 3:27pm
Well, I think I've got the formula I need right now. I have a sugar free instant breakfast in the morning after my workout. That keeps me full until lunch, to which I only have 1 serving of whatever it is I'm eating. Then when I get my humongous chocolate craving within an hour or 2 after lunch, I suck on a hard candy instead which takes care of the craving. Then for dinner I have only 1 serving again of whatever.
No snacking inbetween and if I eat anything with flour in it, it's only 1 serving I am allowed. I find tho that I'm not even hungry for more. :) I am now keeping up with my 20 min. of biking 5x a week too. Yay! |

Hey Guys,
You all are doing great!! Keep it up! It has been TWO WEEKS with out a Diet Coke for me! Let me tell you that is pretty amazing! I think I actually am down a pound or two. I don't feel as bloated either. I think I might start swimming laps at the Y. Maybe if I throw that into the mix of things I'll see more results. I'll be blowing it tonight. I have a dinner date with my husband. I plan on having some red wine while I still can. Spring is just around the corner and it is a trigger when I'm in cycle. Heck... I'll probably have desert too! Good job Mel. Sounds like you found somthing that's working for ya.
Jeannie it's good to hear from you. That's great that you gave up Diet Coke. I don't know it i could totally give up soda, but I could stand to cut back. As for me, being a 3rd shifter and sticking to any kind of diet is tough. My eating schedule is so jacked up. I'm off this weekend so maybe I ought to sit down and figure out what I can do differently to change the number on the scale. This morning that bastard Wii said that I gained 4 lbs. There is no way :P That was after a 45 minute workout. As for the snow echo, we got about a foot since yesterday morning with much more to come. Lots of shoveling to do here. Damn Lake Michigan >:( Oh well, tomorrow is a new day. |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by Jeannie on Dec 5th, 2008 at 5:27pm
Never weigh yourself AFTER you exercise. Your muscles retain water making you weigh more!
Jeannie |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by Melissa on Dec 5th, 2008 at 5:31pm
Jeannie, good going on the soda!! [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
Jen- don't get discouraged. I think being a nighter, the best time to weigh yourself is right after you get up from sleeping before drinking or eating anything for the day/night/whenever. [smiley=hug.gif] |

Weigh in this morning has me down 2.5lbs, yay! :)
I could have sworn that I had gained weight over the weekend, but I guess going off plan a little bit on weekends isn't going to destroy things for me as long as I stay on it during the week. Woot! How was everyones weekend? Good I hope! |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by flipperlips on Dec 8th, 2008 at 10:55am
Good for you Mel. You're doing great.
Yep, we need positive vibes big time. I didn't workout on Saturday. I did end up shoveling snow for about an hour though. I also was running around out in the snow with the dogs for a little while. Good grief, we got bombed with snow Friday into Saturday. Yesterday, I got in 45 minutes on the Wii. Then I ate a bagel with a thin layer of cream cheese and some sour cream and onion potato chips. Then I felt guilty and went out and shoveled some more snow. Then I made a beef roast and mashed potatoes with gravy for supper last night, and you know that I put gravy on everything ;) This morning I worked out with one of my Firm dvd's for 55 minutes. Holy moly I'm feeling that. I think maybe I ought to do one of those every other day and play on the Wii the other days. We'll see if that gets me some faster results :o I've gotta build up some muscle to speed up my metabolism. |

Good article Jen, thanks!
You know, yesterday was just insane. Jesse even took Ava up north with him for the day which left time to myself, but do you even think I could take the bubble bath I've wanted for so long? Nope. I actually ended up taking one at 5:30 this morning cause that's when I had time for it. ::) Last night hubby finally took me out to dinner, just the 2 of us. We went to a place called Tempura House. They have Chinese, Japanese and Korean food. My fav. is the Hibachi Shrimp & Scallops. I ate one plate and 1/2 of another and I was stuffed! A year ago I could easily finish 2 plates and then have dessert. Guess my stomach has shrunk a bit, lol. Our Christmas cards came today that I ordered. Wouldn't you know it they sent the wrong sized envelopes? [smiley=ohjez.gif] So I am eating some chocolate stars for the cookies I was supposed to make today. Good grief. :P |

Oh Guys.... it's been rough!
I baked Christmas cookies this weekend. I cannot stay away from them! I haven't exercised in a week either! What's wrong with me?! Hope you're feeling better, Mel! Jeannie |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by flipperlips on Dec 16th, 2008 at 5:18pm
It has been rough, hasn't it? I don't know if it's the cold crappy snowy weather or what but I am down in the dumps.
Are you feeling better today Mel? On a brighter note. I got a 15 minute workout in on the Wii. My weight is slowly creeping down. I thought for sure after being lazy for two days that I would've had some kind of gain, so I'm a happy camper on that one. |

Hey ladies, thanks for the caring! No, I don't feel any better, I feel worse. So hubby picked up some Zicam for me (the tablets). I've never tried it before but I figure, what do I have to lose other than ten bucks??
Em- sure you can do that with the spritz! I believe I used to do the same thing when I had time on my hands. ;) Jeannie- what's wrong? The Holidays!!! ;D Jen- yay on the weight going down! I think that winter is starting to kick our asses tho. We don't want to exercise all the time, lol. S'ok, after New Years I'm gonna buckle down! That doesn't mean I'm not exercising till then tho, just wanna make that clear. ;) :) |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by flipperlips on Dec 16th, 2008 at 9:03pm
Mel I'm sending you some get better vibes. Get plenty of rest, drink lots of water and keep on taking that Zicam. I want you better for Christmas next week :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
|
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by Jeannie on Dec 16th, 2008 at 11:14pm
Hey Mel,
Maybe it's time for some antibiotics. How many days has it been? I'm proud of you that you were able to still force yourself to work out! Jen, It's great that you are seeing those numbers drop on the scale. Keep it up! I don't know what my deal is. I have just been eating ALL day! I did make myself get to the Y. I did 50 mins on the eliptical. Did I spell that right? :-/ Of course I came home an undid any good it may have done. I stuffed my face with chocolate chip cookies! It so cold and crappy out. I just want to crawl into bed and get under the covers! It has been spitting freezing rain and snow for the past two days. It's not even pretty snow. Just yucky! Okay, I'm finished complaining. G'nite! Jeannie |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by Em on Dec 17th, 2008 at 2:22pm
:(
I too am feeling crap today. Think I have a stomach bug. Yuck. The only thing making me feel a tiny bit better (other than the ginger ale) is that maybe I'll shed some weight. Please let me be better for Christmas... :( |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by Jeannie on Dec 17th, 2008 at 2:28pm
Hope you feel better soon! That's not a fun way to loose weight. You think just like me though! LOL!
Jeannie |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by Melissa on Dec 17th, 2008 at 2:31pm
So far the Zicam seems to be working. I am hoping to feel almost 100% by this weekend!! [smiley=sayyes.gif]
Oh Em, I am so sorry! I hope you get better real fast hon!! [smiley=hug.gif] As for me, I didn't get on the bike this a.m. either. Mostly due to Ava waking early. She also pitches a huge fit when I'm on it and I put her in the playpen. :-/ SO, hopefully I can get back into the groove tomorrow morning and get in 20 min between 5:30 and 6:30 am! Sheesh btw, my diet has been "anything goes" lately. :-[ |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by flipperlips on Dec 17th, 2008 at 5:50pm
Mel I'm glad that you're feeling a little better today. That's great.
Em I'm sorry that you're feeling crappy. Sending some get well vibes to ya. I think the same way. When I'm feeling like shit I don't eat much so I usually drop a pound or two. Jeannie good for you getting on that elliptical for 50 minutes. It's okay that you went home and ate after. It's the holidays so I'm with Mel, anything goes. I worked out on the Wii today for 25 minutes and then I did body sculpting for an hour. Feel the burn :D :D :D :D :D I think that I'm losing my mind ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by Melissa on Dec 18th, 2008 at 10:06am
Jen, you must get some of sick enjoyment out of exercising, don't you? ;D
Amazingly enough, I felt good enough this morning to get 15 min. in! Well, that and Ava went down for her morning nap early, lol. I am now snacking on summer sausage, muenster cheese and a couple cookies, ROFL. Good grief. |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by Frank_W on Dec 18th, 2008 at 1:33pm
I need to get back into my workout regimen, too. One thing I always do is build in a "free day." Usually Sunday. On that day, I can eat whatever I want, as much as I want. It helps me remain focused and dedicated for the rest of the week, and around the fourth week of a workout program, I discover that I'm eating less junk on Sundays. I lose my taste for it.
Another thing, is that I use protein shakes ("Muscle Milk" is awesome!!) and supplement my three small meals each day, with two or three protein shakes. It really amps up the metabolism. :) Hope everyone who is sick is feeling better. Good luck! |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by Em on Dec 18th, 2008 at 3:51pm
Still not feeling quite 100%. Eaten cereal for 3 meals today, but went to work hoping it would bring back a bit of appetite.
I also stopped in and picked up the forms for the gym, so I'll be joining soon and then will have no excuse. Tried to buy Wii Fit yesterday (shopping always helps me feel better!), but it's sold out everywhere. Damned kids and their presents! Don't they know thast Christmas is for grown ups!! ;) |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by flipperlips on Dec 18th, 2008 at 6:48pm
What can I say I'm a sick and twisted individual ;D ;D ;D I got a 20 minute ellipitcal workout in and my 25 minute upper body, plus I shoveled the little bit of snow that we had to get ready for the dumping that we're supposed to get later tonight into tomorrow. Woooohooo!!!!!! I love how energized I feel right now. My size 12's are getting baggy and I'm oh so close to that size 10.
Em I hope that you're feeling better tomorrow. Good for you getting that gym membership. Good job Mel getting your workout in. Right now I'm cooking up some chicken breasts and some pasta. Yummmmmm ;) |

I have some hot chocolate and a fireplace to warm up to also. We can play Christmas music and bake cookies!!! :) |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by flipperlips on Dec 19th, 2008 at 6:54pm
Sounds good Mel. Too bad I don't have a snowmobile :'( Maybe my mom and dad would let me use one of theirs. Nope I doubt it, their probably up at their cabin riding away.
I'm taking a day off today. I just got up about a half hour ago and I had two messages from working asking me to come in early. So I'm off to take a shower and get ready. |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by Em on Dec 20th, 2008 at 5:29am
Count me in too!! Though it may take a little more than a snowmobile to get there.
Yum! I'm doing some Christmas baking today and getting my gym membership. Got to get on track! |

Its winter time, what the hell hapened to , chocolate-chip-cookies by the fire???!!!?!?!,, or home-made Christmas fudge while lounging on the couch watching "a charlie brown Christmas"? I'll just excercise a few extra minutes to work it off ;D Yes, I am a sick and twisted individual ;D |

Welcome back Jonny, missed you and your inspirational words. Just shoveled the driveway with Barry, that was a workout. That will be it for exercise today.
With the Christmas season I am not getting much time at home. Fitting into my size 10 pants now and that feels great. I am shooting for a size 8 and that will be as far as I will go. Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by Melissa on Dec 31st, 2008 at 2:57pm
I am having a very hard time right now. I don't know if any of you have struggled with your weight your whole lives, but I have. It sometimes gets to the point where I'd rather be dead than fat which stems from circumstances during the teenage years.
It's always a constant work in progress. :-[ Anyway, I am HOPING that Jesse is right when he says he thinks this year is going to be good financially, because I'd really love to join the little gym & aquatic center that's near Lily's school. ETA: after a ton of crying, I have decided to try Sugar Busters. I really do have an issue with sugar as it spins me off into carb binges and makes me very tired. I had done Atkins in the past with amazing success, but after adding in foods, I'd just have a small amount of dessert and I would end up in a spin again. God help me! :'( |

Thanks for the motivation Jen! It's well needed. I haven't been to the gym this weekend at all, but have taken down my Christmas tree and walked the dogs twice.
I'm thinking about doing a week long detox. Kick start the system and hope that if I shed a few pounds it'll motivate me anymore. Any experience of detoxes here? |

Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by Em on Jan 4th, 2009 at 6:19pm
That's awesome Melly!
You DO want to get on the bike, because next week, when you discover you've dropped a couple more pounds, imagine how great it will feel. And then, after a couple of weeks when those jeans start feeling a little loose, or you have to do the belt up a little tighter. Those moments are what we're doing this for! That's what I keep reminding myself of anyway. |

Well,I did my 20min yesterday, but this morning I don't feel like it because i already dealt with a son with a constant bloody nose, so I had to keep him home until it was under control, then wake and feed Ava so we could drive Eli to school before 8am.
I already ate breakfast and feel like taking a NAP! :P |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by flipperlips on Jan 6th, 2009 at 10:41am
Oh those out of control nose bleeds are awful. I get them myself.
I just woke up about an hour and half ago and I'm ready for a nap, LOL!!!! |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by Em on Jan 6th, 2009 at 4:59pm
I'm so thankful I've never had a nosebleed.
Today, I went to a boxercise class at my gym. An hour of pain and gruelling workout. Just think of those calories burned! But tomorrow I'm going to pay. I'm going to hurt all over. I decided against the detox. I'm not strong willed enough. I am going to have a go at meal replacement - replace my lunch with a milkshake just to reduce my calorie intake. Going to get on the scaled shortly, so will let you know in a week how it goes! |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by Em on Jan 7th, 2009 at 5:30pm
I was right... I feel like I've been hit by a car. My arms and ribs hurt real bad. I am in so much pain! And I went to another class tonight. Just a stretching one, but man, it was tough.
Come on ladies. How are you getting on? |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by Melissa on Jan 7th, 2009 at 6:16pm
Oh, I'm gettin on. I was going to post this morning that my bike's a piece of shit this morning, but fixed the problems I was having.
I mean, here I am, biking for what, almost 2 months now and thinking I'm exercising when in fact I had NO TENSION on the damn wheel! Plus, the chain was acting up and we couldn't figure out why. Here it just needed some lube (shut up Chuck). But I still tightened the crank and the chain and then adjusted the strap that covers the wheel. Wouldn't you know it, the last 8 minutes of my biking (after fixing the stupid thing) ended up making me sweat! NOW I can actually feel the effects. I must say, I felt good afterward, even though I hate to get off my butt to do it. :P |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by Angie on Jan 7th, 2009 at 9:51pm

Just got off work and looking forward to my day off tomorrow, going on the Wii fit and dance revolution. Working towards a size 8. Need to be ready when spring gets here. Work is slowing down now and time to get back into routine exercise. Keep exercising everyone. :) |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by flipperlips on Jan 8th, 2009 at 8:02am
I have a confession to make. I've been so bad. I still haven't gotten back into the groove. I'm not going to make being a size 10 by next week, but it's all good.
A few weeks back I sneezed really hard and I screamed to Phil, "Holy shit, I think I broke my boob." It still hurts to jiggle too much, so I just can't force myself to workout. I've been doing really good with portion control and drinking more water however, so my jeans are fitting better even though I haven't been working out. Good job ladies, hopefully I'll be working out again soon. I know now how much better I feel when I'm getting a good workout in. |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by Melissa on Jan 8th, 2009 at 10:01am
Jen, take care and just don't overdo it when you DO get back to it! Remember, we only need a minimum of 20 min. of exercise 3 days a week to be healthy (along with healthy habits of course).
hugs, :)mel |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by Em on Jan 8th, 2009 at 5:43pm

Great job Mel. I'm so happy for you. Somehow, I'm still losing weight even though I haven't been working out. I needed to put a belt on yesterday with my jeans.

Jen, it's probably because your metabolism is up due to the muscle you have put on.
oh, and ty. :) |

Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by Em on Jan 11th, 2009 at 6:25am
So we've got our own personal trainer in Jonny now have we? ;)
I'd have to do aerobics all day for about 3 years to look like those girls. When I go to an aerobics class, I'm usually bright cherry red and sweating all over. Not exactly a picture of loveliness. I'm having today off. Tomorrow I'm going to a Powerplate class. Going to shake those rolls off! |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by flipperlips on Jan 11th, 2009 at 7:05am
LMAO Em!!! I don't think anyone would want to see me doing aerobics like that [smiley=eek.gif]
Good for you taking your birthday off. You deserve it. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!! |

Good for you Em, enjoy the day sweetie!!

Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by Melissa on Jan 12th, 2009 at 11:10am
Well, I really, really didn't want to do it, but somehow I dragged my ass onto my bike this morning. Afterwards I took a bath and relaxed with the jets going. I've been doing that quite a bit lately. :-/
Anyway, I'm finding it twice as hard to get the steam up to exercise while in cycle!! :( |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by flipperlips on Jan 12th, 2009 at 6:44pm
That's understandable Mel. I'm here cheering you on. I hope your cycle ends soon [smiley=hug.gif] :-*
I haven't worked out yet today, but while I'm at work tonight I'll do the stairs at least 8 times. It's only two stories, but it's something. |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by Melissa on Jan 13th, 2009 at 6:26pm
I was just too spent to do any biking today, so I didn't. I also got my wheat free/sugar free cookbooks in the mail, and I can't even get excited about them because my head is so screwed up. :(
This sucks! I hope you gals are doing well though, I hope to get going better once I have my O2! |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by Jeannie on Jan 13th, 2009 at 6:41pm
Mel,
I'm sorry you are having a hard time. I can't exercise either when I am in a full blown cycle. It is a trigger for me....not while I exercise but a little bit after I stop. Throw a little bit of Pred in there and I am done for. I think that is where the extra pounds I am carrying around now came from. It does suck and I feel for you. Hang in there! I hope your hits let up soon. Hugs, Jeannie |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by Em on Jan 14th, 2009 at 1:21pm
Things not going well for me here either, though I'm still doing the meal replacement. Going to weigh myself on Sat - 1st time in 2 weeks, so we'll see if there's been any change. Hope so...
I think I'll be swimming on Saturday next. I just have no motivation right now. Feeling a bit rubbish through and through. I know that they exercise will help, but it's such an effort. :-[ |

Oh ladies... Have we lost our momentum???
Tell me how it's going! Are we all still trying to shift lbs? |

Yeah, you got an excuse there Mel!
What about the rest of you - Angie, Jen, Jeannie! Progress updates please!! Apparently, the week just passed was THE most miserable week of the year because you start to give up on the New Year's resolutions and you feel you have nothing to look forward to. Well, with my wedding in 6 weeks, I need to get shifting these lbs. So girls, ARE YOU WITH ME??? I need all the help I can get. |

Barry here. I bought Angie the "Wii Winter Sports 2" yesterday and she is just trying it out right now. The 2-man bobsled is way too cool! 8-) Many others on this disc.
Angie just reported that the bobsled one is really hard on the legs! :D START PRINTPAGEMultimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!! You need to ![]() ![]() |

I have the first version of that! It's great.
I find the speed skating tough on the arms. Good for working the bingo wings though! |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by flipperlips on Jan 26th, 2009 at 7:32am
LMAO, bingo wings [smiley=crackup.gif] [smiley=crackup.gif] [smiley=crackup.gif]
Thanks Em, I needed a giggle this morning!!!! Looks like I may have to get a new game for the Wii. I haven't left you guys, I promise. I'm still healing and am limited to how much I'm allowed to do with my right arm. I did get a good 40 minute cardio dance workout in. Nothing like making me feel like and uncoordinated freak!!!!!! |

Ha ha!! I feel like that just walking down the street though... I have cheated just a little and bought some spanx for under my wedding dress! They are amazing!! And let's be honest, the wedding night isn't going to be magical, with me dancing to 80's music til 2 and him drunk on sambuca, so I can wear what I want. All girls should have spanx!! And for those who don't know what bingo wings are, here's some motivation to get you working those triceps (and shaving your armpits after looking a little closer at that pic)!!! Yikes! Thanks for the motivation. I have started weight training now along with the cycling classes. I am down about 7 lbs. Only 20 more to go! I am stuck though! I can't seem to get below where I am right now.
Big hugs to you all! Jeannie |

Good Lord, if my arms ever look like that....shoot me!!!!!
Just got 20 minutes and 3.5 miles in on the elliptical, I dialed up the intensity a little bit, too. |

Cool!
I also just found this website through iVillage and thought maybe you might be interested. It's a 6 week challenge, but I'm jsut going to print out the week by week exercise plan and try it out. Taking the vitamins to keep from snacking and planning that back-to-bikini bod by April! (thats the plan anyway lol) Lets get to it! |

Great article Em. Thanks for finding that and sharing it.
Jen you already look great and you don't have far to go at all. Congrats on quitting smoking, you go girl :-* Mel I think about you all the time and keep hoping that this cycle is over for you. Hang in there sweetie, I'm still sending vibes and prayers at you over the lake. I went to the doc this morning and he lifted my weight and range restrictions. He told me to go slow and not to over do it. He doesn't know me very well, LOL!!!!! I'm taking a day off today, but will be back at it tomorrow. I gotta get rid of this gut so I can proudly wear a bikini this summer, if summer ever comes to Michigan ;) |
Title: Re: Sweat Hogs Post by Em on Jan 28th, 2009 at 4:25am
I've got bikini time starting on March 8th! I tried them on last night. If I could lost 6-8 lbs then I reckon they'd be ok.
Got to keep working out and getting rid of the love handles... :( Jen - well done on quitting smoking! That's great news. I've been taking raisins and carrot sticks so I can 'snack' all day but not on junk. Mel - still sending vibes for this cycle to finish and then you can literally get back on the bike! |
