Purplydog Chris just called me with an urgent plea.

Her imitrex pen went to hell this morning, wasting 4 shots,  they are discharging as soon as she tries to remove it from the cartrige.

PLEASE...if you have an extra imitrex pen, and are able to get to the hospital where she and Kirk are, please call her she is at the hospital and asked me to post her cell number.  She will be checking messages often.

She's in high cycle right now and really needs an angel that can get a pen to her ASAP.

DAMNIT I wish i was closer.

Tell her to get an insulin syringe from the hospital and drain an autoinjector into it.

Also, if she has someone who can make some calls for her, I do know that imitrex was sampled to some doctors.  If she could call around (since she has a valid script), she might luck into some samples.  It's a longshot, but hey maybe worth it.  

Sorry I cant be of any more help.

She can't get the cartrages out of the case without the pen, and the pen is shot, and discharges the precious liquid gold all over the place.  I wish I lived closer too.  

8-12 aborts were wasted this morning.  

If anyone can call her any other ideas to help.  I have to run errands here this morning.  But I'll check back here when I get back.

I was able to pry out the glass cartridges with a multi-tool attached to Kirk's keychain, just now, and used a q-tip to push them into an empty vial. I was a little worried, because I couldn't get them out, and I had to get over to the hospital. And after the last two days, I didn't want to be without.

I was worried about breaking the cartridges trying to get them out, as this was all I had. And thank you to the angel who sent me a care package, it will be waiting for me at home. It came after we left.

I just spoke with Chris; She is in a very high cycle right now.

she was able to get the cartridge out and also get a syringe. Her hits have lighten up, but she is having pretty bad shadows right now.

I offered to drive over to Indianapolis and and deliver her the meds that she left at my house when they stopped by (since she have wasted so many) or overnight them to her. She think that she have enough if they stay light and he's being released tomorrow. I will be meeting her tomorrow to give her the things that she left at my house when they pass through Champaign.  

So rest easy Family... I told her that I could be there in 2hrs.  If she need me within the next 24 hours she knows to call..

I have about 20 of the injectors in a drawer, so Chris, or anyone else, needs a couple, let me know. I pry the vials out and use a golf tee to inject.

Thats the only way I have ever done it, never once used the pen.....too much waste.  ;)

  You can also pull the spring out of the pen then you can atleast get the stat dose out,  your pen will never work again but you still can get the dose out.

Thanks for that suggestion, Phil, I never thought about losing the spring. That was part of the problem.

I was taking these and injecting them into an empty vial I have, so I could split the shots, using syringes. I'll be seeing Lady Luv tomorrow, I have part of one shot left. I hope it lasts until I see her. Being in high cycle sucks.
