Anyone out there participate in this the day after Thanksgiving.

Me: Nope, I'm going to the casino to play a little poker.

That has to be my idea of hell.. I avoid all sales like the plague. All those people is my idea of hell. Added to which, I went up to London a couple of weeks ago and got knocked flying literally by another woman. If it hadn't been for Brid, my 14 year old grabbing me I'd have landed on the floor. As it was I jarred my hip right out and was in tears from the pain (and I don't do that)

CHOOSING to go to something like that fills me with absolute horror!

My long standing policy of not leaving my property on Black Friday is still in effect. I'd just as soon jump into a pot of boiling axle grease than fight the crowds.

A  definite NO from me..........I can't save enough money to go out on Black Friday!
And what's up with this? Kohl's, Macy's and the like open at 4-5am just like the junk shops(Wallyworld and such)?
Try this one, our local Outlet Mall is oepening at Midnight Fri Morning!

The majority of my shopping is on E-bay, but we do very little these days. Automobile Club Member ships, tickets to great events, homemade goodies packed in baskets with movie tickets and dinner certificates.........Christmas got waaay out of hand.
Oh, yeah, Black Friday...........not even if ya had bamboo under my fingernails!

NOT me either! Never did, never will.......................the true meaning of Christmas is not shopping for gifts.......................for me it's about being with those you love, sharing in food , drink, laughter......................no shopping for me this year..................everyone may enjoy themselves @ my house and this shall be their gift.............................(well, okay as long as my unemployment extension finds its way to my bank account!!)

My wife becomes very orgasmic Thursday night in the anticipation. She had rather shop then eat. I, however will be here and ooh and ahh at the bargains she got when she gets back.  We all need a hobby, and shopping for bargains is one of hers.

Not a bad thing really. ;)

I'd rather laminate my testicles to the carpet than go shopping on Black Friday.

I love to shop and doing it on black friday doesn't bother me.  I have participated in the past and skipped it in the past.  I am usually out of town while my husband is in the woods hunting.  So I am usually praying for his saftey or processing venison.  This year I looked at all the flyers and didn't really see anything woth getting plus I don't have money saved up to go shopping.  Have fun day to those who do and those who dont.

I avoid going shopping on WEEKENDS most of the year.  There's no way in hell I'll go Friday.  JrBrew has to work and I'll take him in at 5:30am, but that's the extent of it.

I'll put up the tree and get ready for entertaining.

There is no way in hell that I would step foot anywhere near a retail establishment on black Friday or any weekend between now and Christmas. It's bad enough that I spend 5 days a week in Wal Mart already.   The internet and plastic are my shopping partners now (well, except for the liquor store and that's not in the mall).  Tree won't go up for a few more weeks either.

Unless its shopping at Cabelas or Bass Pro Shops, I won't be there.

Seems like the majority here are not going out shopping that day. Could it be our (CH's) lack of tolerance for bullshit? ;)

I'm thinking-YES :D

No way.  I just give a list to my mother in law and my sister in law and pay them for whatever they end up being able to get for me.  They love it.  I did it one year with them and I hated every single minute of it.

We can barely stand grocery shopping!   ;D  And even that we won't do on the weekends!

...and thank goodness I wasn't drinking anything while reading this thread or it would have been all over the keyboard......

Nope... No malls etc here on Friday. We do the X-Mas tree thing though on 'black friday'.    The day after Thanksgiving we always go to a christmas tree farm about an hour and 1/2 from here in the mountains and cut down down our tree and eat at a cool little general store.  Kids love it, its a tradition.

Pretty much all online shopping from here on out to finish up- got my kids bigger things last weekend-  ( 9 pm at Target is a great time to shop btw) I  Can't do an electronics dept anytime after thanksgiving without getting really pissed off.. and of course my kids lists were heavy in that area.

Never have.

You see it's a religious holiday here and it's taken very seriously.

No. That day is reserved for making Turkey and Andouille Gumbo and sleeping.

It is WAY to early to start the holiday shopping!  There is PLENTY of time left on the day before Christmas to get it all done.  Why rush things?

Or, just "Bah HUMBUG" the whole thing and don't go out and do ANY shopping!

Hey, I like the sounds of that idea!

All those presents that I was going to buy all y'all ... ... ... FORGET IT!

Me, I'm planning to sit home in my pjs and shake my head at all the idiots who are out fighting the crowds. NOT MY THING AT ALL....

My kids on the other hand... got their shopping shoes beside the bed and the alarm clock set.

I'm with Steevegee -- it's a religious holiday and I'm gonna honor it.

Some years I go, some I don't. Walmart has a couple of items I want, so I may get over there before 5 am. It's only a half a mile.

We have to go to Springfield, but we are not going shopping... have a couple of errands to run, and pick up Kirk's trike from the shop.

I'm going to look online at what's what today, I know Newegg has a sale today, and a couple of other places. I'm with you, Langa, online is the easiest anymore.

Have fun, everyone who will brave the crowds. I'm with you, Barb. If I didn't have to go to Springfield, I'd be home in my sweats, relaxing and doing some housework.  :)

Ok, that was the 1st time I've ever gone to a store on Black Friday before 9am.  I spent more money than I should have, which is reason enough to me never to do it again.  That is also the longest I've ever waited in line at a checkout too, lol.  The people were pretty decent and I could maneuver the store well, but in all honesty, it wasn't worth waking up early for and driving 30 min to get there, lol.

BTW, did you read about the Walmart employee that was trampled to death this morning?  Was a guy 34 years old, same age as me.  How utterly awful, that's just not right!! >:(

I often go shopping on Black Friday but won't today, just because I don't really know what I want and don't want to go buy stuff I probably don't need. I'll do what Melissa did and overspend. On the other hand Lisa picked out and tried on a coat Wed. and I found it on line today with free shipping, no tax and 20% off. The store only had a $20 gift card if you spent over $100. I saved over $55 and never left my house!

Last night (yes it was Thanksgiving) Michael's Craft store was open with great sales from 6 to 9pm only. I bought $15  worth of flowers for $5. I'm making pottery vases for Christmas gifts with my 1st grade class. They will be so pretty! It felt good to get out and walk around after diner too. And hardly anyone was there.
