Title: Newbie..Hi Folks!! Post by circletam on Dec 5th, 2008 at 11:13am
Hello All...
Well, I guess im here looking for a answers really. I'm not sure at this stage if i'm a CH suffer. I started suffering with H/A a year ago and it seem every bout they get worse and more painful and closer together. My doctor wont allow me to work until they find out what's wrong I have been off sick for a year now. I am currently waiting to see a neuro.. but that can take for ever. At first my doctor thought l had sinus trouble as i do suffer with them.. but no sinus treatment worked. After a sinus scan all seemed to be clear. Now we are going down the migraine route.. but with many meds later they dont seem to work or ease the pain. I seem to have H/A all the time with some different degree of pain.. always on one said of my head just above the eye or in the corner near my nose. Then out of nowhere this pain will come in waves and i will feel very sick and almost feel as if i need to breath hard through it. Once the pain wave has gone so does the sickness.. but i can be then left with a h/a afterwards for many hours. These pain waves come throughout my day. Normally start mid morning. I've been on Pain meds for a while now so the risk of rebound H/A is high i guess. I'm at my wits end now.. :'( Thanks for taking the time to read this. Sorry to moan on my 1st post. Have a good day all :) |

Ugh, sorry you had to come looking for us, but I'm glad you did. It can be a long road not only to diagnosis, but to find a treatment that works after you are diagnosed. It sounds to me like you suffer from at least 2 different types of headache.
Have you ever tried Oxygen at high flow rates? Lots of people also use caffeine early in the onset of a headache and it seems to help. I drink coffee and cola, others drink energy drinks such as redbull. How often per day do you get these bad headaches? How long do they last? What kinds of treatment has your doc and you tried so far? And nothing has really worked? PF wishes to you B$ |

What is being done to diagnose your problem?
Has your doc referred you to a specialist in headache? A general neurologist is commonly not qualified to work with complex headache disorders (our experience here). Baring you from work is an extraordinary response. Is the doc suspecting some underlying cause of the headache which you have not mentioned in your message? |

WOW! Welcome to the board. Bob's right, you need to get steered to a "headache specialist" neuro. Are you keeping a headache diary yet? Much of your diagnosis will be in the details. When do they start, how long do they last, how fast do they build to a peak pain, what do you rate the peak pain at, (Look at our KIP scale on the left, great "measuring device" for pain) Where is the pain centered, what if anything have you tried that did/didn't work. That kind of information can be critical to a decent diagnosis. The more detailed your diary the better.
Hang in there, wishing you some peace soon. Guiseppi |
Title: Re: Newbie..Hi Folks!! Post by circletam on Dec 5th, 2008 at 1:30pm As i said im my above message... i suffer everyday from H/A. somedays are worse than others Take today.. i have H/a right now and its in the corner of my eye by my nose.. its painful but managable with pain meds which is codine. But earlier today the pain came in a rush wave with sickness and i thought i was gonna go crazy it was like someone had placed a icepack on my head and iwas being ice burnt . does that make sense.. lord i hope so. The pain i would say was about 7 out of 10. Then that eased off but then has lefted me with this h/a i have now. These waves happen up to 5/6 times aday. sometime more. I take codine and parcetamols 4 times aday for the pain sometimes less on a good day. Also i take Amitriptyline each night for pain so my doc says it s for. Ive tried sumatriptan and Zomig nasal spray and currently taking another which name i have forgotton it melts in the mouth. Ive seen both Ent and Cardio to rule out sinus and High Bp. Im not working as my doctor feels as im in pain most days and on pain meds it better i stay at home.. as i tend to get very tired alot even tho i tend not to sleep very well. So until l've seen by Neuro and diagnose is still waiting. Thanks for replying so fast guys.. ;) All advice and help is welcome.... Tam xx |
