At the beginning of each week I ask each member of my family to suggest one meal they'd like that week. I then go to the store to buy what I need for each meal. Then everyone gets a chance to pick something and I don't have to rack my brain coming up ideas all by myself!
Tonight is simple.....Baked pasta with meatballs. Jeannie |

Liz and El are taking me out to eat tonight. We're going to Lindy's over on Chinden Boulevard--it's one of those neighborhood places with a steakhouse on one side, and a bar on the other. Surrounding's are pretty low key, prices are reasonable, and the food is good. You know the kind of place I mean. :)
They have this bourbon steak with peppercorns that I'm fond of. Add a caesar salad with a few anchovies thrown on, a big baked potato, and a glass of California cabernet, and I'll be in pretty good shape. Best, George |

Since it snowed all day here, I got an 8 pound chicken to roast along with cornbread stuffing, spuds, gravy, and corn or green beans.
Just a hunker-down kinda day. |

I did beef stew in the Nesco yesterday - it was fabulous. We still have leftover chocolate cake from JrBrew's birthday, as well as a cheesecake sampler Brew's boss sent us for Christmas. Dessert is never much of a problem this time of the year . . . . |

Three 4lb New England Hams in the oven as each year at this time Angie and the other supervisors plus the manager each cook a dish for all the staff, about 45. The store pays for the food.
Our dinner is a Chicken Alfredo stir fry, but damn those Hams are starting to smell good! [smiley=slowlaugh.gif] |

And the problems with this?? For ME, I already had it ... Sliced and fried smoked bratwurst, with Cajun rice. Shortly, I will have desert ... Cookies and Cream Ice Cream with chocolate syrup over it. (Gee, and I wonder why I am getting so fat?) Chuck |
Title: Re: What's for Supper? Post by Linda_Howell on Dec 9th, 2008 at 7:33pm O.K. I'll bite Pat. What is a "nesco"? I wish you all could smell the aromas in my house right now. A cross between the stew in the crock-pot and apples and cinnamon in the oven from the apple crisp. I've got Vanilla candles lit too. Yummy. |
Title: Re: What's for Supper? Post by Melissa on Dec 9th, 2008 at 8:22pm
Linda, a Nesco is like a large slow cooker only it has temperature settings.
Well, I am so f'ing tired that I didn't even make dinner, lol. Instead Jesse made spaghetti. I am really not hungry for it, I told him that before he even decided to make it, so all I had was 2 slices of garlic bread. (I know, bad, bad!) |

Anything that comes in a box not too hard to open. I've been too sick with something flu-like for 4 days to get creative. Lots of Alka Seltzer cold medicine, though, and sit in front of the TV watching House marathons. It's good to see others in bad shape too......although I don't have some kind of exposure to Amazonian tree frog ticks, or the like, as his patients. 8-)

Pepto Bismol, Ibuprofen a hot toddy and an early bed time tonight thanks (NOT!!) to all the bugger nosed, sneezing little kids at the hospital where I work. The little crumb snatchers are so cute but damn, they are germ carriers on two legs.......grrrr.

Pat,
I really miss Brew telling us about a "crusty bread" with the meal. I really miss your Hubby's posts, but I understand. Tell him Jimmers said "Hey" |
