The beach dunes are just past the trees on the right. Let's see if Bob knows this one, but he will have to think back to when his girls were younger  ;)

Marc,
That looks like a trail from another planet....very pretty but a bit eerie too.

There is a small street kinda like that in Florida.  Looks like huge tree tunnel.
Bet Donna H. knows where that one is... :)

Absolutely stunning! Thanks for that one Marc. ;) We have trees that create a tunnel effect, but not like those ones.

Next to the High School.  You continue on to where the road meets the creek and there is a dirt/sand parking area on the beach that the kids called "The Pit".  Big deal to drive over there and eat their lunch when they were in school.

Sarah & I hiked around San Simeon Point last year and were bunches of stands like this.  Almost too thick in places.

I'm told there was a stand like this near Sweet Springs in Los Osos but they all blew down during a storm long ago.

Man, I'm going to have to come up with something more difficult! You nailed it - right on the money.

San Simeon Point is a real treat - I love the place. The Sweet Springs tree tunnel must have been before my time (but then I'm still really young ;D )

Marc,

It's a good thing there are no jobs here... pictures like yours would have everybody moving here!

We are spoiled.

Hey Marc,

Did you get any good shots from the Elfin Forest?  Those pygmy oaks are really beautiful.

Nah, it's actually a lot bigger than it looks.  At least that's what I tell people....

Ok..that is REALLY cool, Marc! I remember one place, the Arboretum, where I encountered a tunnel like that....it actually had a prehistoric feel to it......very dense, lush, jungle-like. I loved the seclusion there, but to come out at the beach? OMG! Now THAT would be special!
Have you found spectacular places to ride in Bastrop??

LYM!
Cathi :D
