Here is what is in store....
Mind you right now it's 42 degrees and drizzling Quote:
Anyone want to come help me chizzle the ice off the Aztek in the morning? It'll be days before those doors come open again. |

I put a fresh coat of wax on my wife's car today in shorts and T shirt. I'm new to winter in this part of Texas, but 78 degrees was OK with me.
Going down to Palm Beach to visit one of our daughters next week. She warned me that it was cold at night - dropping clear into the mid 60's at night........The water has plummeted to the mid 70's so it's gonna be tough, but I guess I can deal with it. |

Over here, the snow disappeared about two weeks ago, which is a shame as snow is the only fun thing about the coldest part of the year.
We had a lot of rain, and allthough it's dry now, the weather is really gloomy, depressing, and bitter bitter cold. In the evenings, wearing two sweaters, a shawl, a woolen hat, leather gloves and a leather jacket and STILL freezing my butt off, I stare in wonder at the dogs whom just do not seem to get affected by the temperature. Are they just to dumb to notice lol? Anyway, the worst is yet to come, a little thing I'd like to call January. I hate that month with a passion, and would give an arm and a leg to hybrinate through it. Waiting for the sun, Pascal. |

Never say never Bob. As this cold front is coming through, you may well get a few flurries. |

I hate this weather. I already have a cold that developed yesterday and the constant change in barometer is making my head hurt. >:(

I did that once. Drove up from the LA area for a meeting and it did indeed snow. The strip was a mess. Had to the take long way home. Not the same trip that we met! How are you guys doing? Marc |

Well the temp had dropped almost 10 degrees since my last post, and the wind is picking up and variable.

No kidding, it was 34 today and is projected to be -30 with the wind chill tonight. Berrrrrrrrrrrrr... The car locks froze, and the wife’s van is F'n up again. I think it's the fuel pump because it just died. I taped the fuel rail and there was no residual pressure left in it. Then I tried to start it and it fired right up. Dam electrical fuel pumps that you have to drop the tank to change! SUCKS!!! Rolo… >:(

Try changing the fuel filter. I have seen a lot of cars that won't start unless you bang the fuel filter. Banging it knocks some of the dirt loose. If you have changed it lately then make sure you have no water in the lines. Just a few things to try before dropping the tank. Check a manual. Some can be changed through an access hole inside the vehicle. Paul |

Ya Paul, I cheeked the book and there is no access plate under the carpet in the back. It’s a lumina APV. I changed the fuel filter 10K ago. No residual pressure in the injector fuel rail is a good indication that the pump is failing. I have changed 3 injectors on the 3800 so far and there was always pressure left in it. Parts aren’t too bad, $90 for the pump and $10 for the dip screen. I don’t have a fuel pressure gage and the parts store does not have loaners so if I want to check pressure, I will have to buy one @ $45 or take it to a shop and get billed $45. I would rather own the tool if it comes to that. It just kills me that crap like this never happens when the weather is cooperative, I do have a reznor in the garage but if I drop the tank I will have to nix the pilot on the heater… It just sucks… Roland. ::)

Geezzz -- we've got all the windows open and it's nice here in East Texas. A little windy, but what the heck... Supposed to start raining today, but the temps are supposed to stay in the high 60s.
We had winter LAST WEEK! Poor Chuckles -- I know how you hate to put that top up... but sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do.... And Bob G -- I was in Vegas one time when it snowed - stopped a crap game for about a minute or so while we acknowledged it.... :) - then some idiot wanted to bet on how long it would keep coming down. Hugs BD |

Looks like we are gearing up for yet another blast of winter here. All school buses canceled for our area and snow squalls and high winds on the way for today. :P

Nice read in your link Paul. I have been saying for many years that Solar activity drives the earth's climate and while green house gasses do contribute to glabal warming their effect is a fart-in-a-wind storm compared to the Sun's role. We are in for some long term cooling and that is far worse than turning up the heat. Life on earth proliferates during warm cycles and this includes Humans. -P. |

Weird it is. It's 42 and raining, snow melting, streets bare, and a little windy. Tomorrow, Mel is sending us some 22 degree weather and snow. Ahhhh....that's better. :o So far, it's been a tough December. Other than today', rain, it's been a bit colder and snowier than usual....more like January. I guess those predictions of a hard winter are right.
We have one of those 100 years ago, 50, 25, etc. columns in the paper. In 1958, Oswego, NY (south of Lake Ontario) got more than 6 feet drifts in early December. We had 3 plus feet as well and near zero weather. I must have had fun. I was 12. Zounds! START PRINTPAGEMultimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!! Hi, Marc. We're doing good. Cold, but good. Weather is rotten. Don't visit Vegas today, just mail me your money and I'll see that the casino gets it. It is snowing on the mountains around the valley but none on the valley floor. That's a good thing. If we get a really deep snow, say, one inch, the whole town shuts down for about a hour until it all melts. |
