lol! Billl..WE'VE BEEN TELLING YOU!
tONIGHT, IT IS 24 OUT, THE SNOW IS collecting, and we are going out of our gourds! We can't drive in it(we're not capable)...we can't play in it(our blood's too thin)....and we just might resort to playing parcheesi, coz, we have cabin fever!
Kids can't go to school....mothers haven't finished their shopping, and we are expecting 10-12' on Sat/Sun......which would be ok, but each time the snow stops, the temp drops!
Gil's been taking MY car to work.....but, now, with all the ice under the snow, we had to get chains........4WD does NOT do it! AND, we live on top of a hill....but then, most of Portland is a hilly terrain....sooo.........
back to the subject of the thread..........
WE SLIP BACKWARD DOWN HILLS!

Adding insult to injury, BobG tells me it's snowing in Las vegas......which is where we expect to be 12/29.............chit.........

All you East coasters can laugh all ya want, but, ya just gotta understand, we are NOT used to this........soo, please tell us/////////

Get together all the 4WD vehicles with WARN winches that you can find.  There are what--a million or so people in Portland?  Very few of them have any experience driving on snow and ice.  You can make a fortune pulling them out of ditches.

There's an opportunity here.

It's supposed to be in the mid-60s today.  

I remember, think it was in January '95, when we had a major ice storm.  I got up that morning, called my boss and told him I'd be in when I could get a good visual of the road, since we had black ice.  Got to work and me and the boss spent most of the day watching the intersection in front of his store.  There were hills both ways and people couldn't figure out how to get up them.  I wish I would have had my cam corder.  I could have made a fortune on Worlds Funniest Videos.

Most people don't realize that when you are trying to climb an icy hill, you do NOT stop for any reason (well, unless you are about to wreck), do not accelerate and do not decelerate.  Slow and steady gets you to the top (plus an additional 200-300 pounds sitting over your rear axles).

Does anyone read the owner's manuals of cars?  What do you think the little one and two are beyond the D for Drive?

I even have a One and Two on my truck's 4 wheel drive - for when the snow is deep and the going is slow.

This only helps you to slow down when breaking is a sure fire spin, my truck is a manual so I use the breaking power of the engine all the time.

He does a good job of cruisin', too. He falls asleep after about 6 minutes. That's great on the days he gets real cranky but doesn't want a nap

Thanks, Charlie. Biker chicks and little kids like it too. (not that I consider you either of those).

It's kinda like a motorcycle. Light weight and over powered. But, it doesn't fall down when you stop.
