Title: Calling All Southwestern Ontario Canadians Post by catlind on Dec 22nd, 2008 at 10:11am
and weather geeks anywhere near the great lakes....
As many of you know, when you watch the weather channel, the weather just simply stops at the border, you can have a raging blizzard in any of the border states and of course the Canadian provinces will be devoid of weather. We have to make a road run from near Windsor Ontario up to Stratford Ontario and we are trying to figure out what the weather is going to throw at us. The weather up here is a bit finicky and while the 401 corridor through London may be clean and clear, the 402 corridor coming up from Lake Huron may have white outs and blizzard conditions. If there's anyone in the region that could give me a hand and let me know what the weather seems to be planning for the week (particularly the early morning of the 24th) I would be most appreciative. Clark is a meteorologist, but he is not familiar with the oddities of the weather patterns up here, so other than knowing a clipper is coming or a low is going to pass through, he's not able to determine driving conditions. If any of my fellow Canadians in the area could give me an idea of what is to come I would MOST appreciative. We managed to make the drive from NC to Ontario through the window of mild snow dump on Sat. since that was the only window that the region was going to be storm free so we arrived safe and sound up here in Canada with very minimal snow and ice - at least until we got into Canada and headed across to Mom's where there were 3 highway closures due to blowing snow that caused accidents. Again, any info and input would be most helpful! Cat |

Thanks Margi - much appreciated. Seems that it doesn't matter what day we go we are going to be looking at 80% chance of snow. At least on the 24th there's a chance of rain-snow mix instead of straight snow. Guess we'll get to try out the electronic stability control on the van after all.
