Title: Government gone wild Post by BMoneeTheMoneeMan on Dec 23rd, 2008 at 2:41am
The government is large and in-charge. When they screw up, there is nothing you can do except fix it yourself and at your own expense.
The snow plow plowed a big pile right in front of my driveway. Its not that the snow plow passed by and left some snow off the side of the plow. The dude came down the street and I thought he was going to come in my driveway, but he stopped, backed up and drove away. He left the whole pile sitting right in front of the driveway. Being that it's government, there isnt a damn thing i can do. I can't short pay them, I cant send them a bill, I cant fire them. If it was a private company I hired, i could do all of those things, but its the municipality. If I short pay them, they will take my house. If I send them a bill, they wont pay it. If i ask them to fix their mistake, the answer is no. It really sux we pay these idiots to provide a service, and most of the time the service sux and cost is ridiculous. So today I paid a municipal idiot to put a pile of snow in front of my driveway. Maybe tomorrow I'll pitch in $20 and see if they will punch me in the nutts. |

Are you saying that he piled it up in FRONT of your drive and that you can't get out of your drive way? If so you DO have a complaint and I'd be screaming bloody murder (after I took pictures).
then there's always the NEWS media - use them to your GOOD when you need them. I've found this works really well in the past. The mayor gets really upset when they go to his house for comments. Hope this gets straightened out. But don't let them get away with it. I just hate it when they think they can do what they damn well please. Hugs BD |

"If money is wanted by Rulers who have in any manner oppressed the People, they may retain it until their grievances are redressed, and thus peaceably procure relief without trusting to despised petitions or disturbing the public tranquility."
Journals of the Continental Congress, 1:105-113 A monumental and daring undertaking I know. The Framers knew all too well about oppression and tyranny and how to undercut the irresponsible actions of a surrogate plutocracy. That's why they included the ability for us to Petition for Redress of Grievances in the First Amendment of the Constitution. Small groups now exist who have filed Petitions to the Government and have largely and arrogantly been ignored by the Rulers and Courts. To wish for new and responsible leadership on a parochial level is useless as evidenced by career politicians. A collective effort is in dire need now and putting them on notice that we plan to withhold our money is a good start. It will get their attention and it is within our Rights. To do otherwise is neither responsible or wise. Our Government is out of control. The Founding Fathers are waiting. Steve G |

Brian - really? If my car sustains damage here because of construction or even just a pothole, it is reimburseable by the city. Is it illegal there to block a residential or commercial driveway? I agree with Barb, you have a legitimate complaint though, not sure who in your city you'd complain to...? |
Title: Re: Government gone wild Post by Artonio on Dec 23rd, 2008 at 11:43am
this would make an interesting video.....
Call a local news station and hire someone to remove the snow from your driveway and then have it delivered to the mayors residence and dumped in his driveway, I'll bet your plight will make the evening news. Then... when it's time to pay your property, county and city taxes, deduct what it cost to hire the dump truck place that amount in escrow. Get a lawyer to draw up all of the necessary paper-work and add that on to the fee. Then send the city a bill and state that there will be penalties and fees for every month they are delinquent on payment. ...or suck it up and do nothing. with warm regards, Tony |

Or, you could just pick up the phone and try calling anyway. I'm sure they'd send someone to remove the snow. Not all county workers are bad...

Yeah, I called. I'm not sure if it's the county or the state, so I called both. I asked nicely if they would come move the snow. Unforunately, they didnt answer and havent called back. If that pile is not moved by tonite, I am going to hand shovel it into the middle of the road. At least enough of it so I can get my car out. |

Thats what I do every time a plow comes by and plows my driveway entrance in. But, I modified the guy next door and the fat guy across the streets plows, I welded 3/8"X 4 1/2" stainless steel flat bar on the backs of their plows so they can back plow. If they come by and I am plowed in, they just drop the plow and pull the snow into the middle of the street.....LMAO ;D ....I trade that off by doing any welding they need for free. ;) |
Title: Re: Government gone wild Post by BMoneeTheMoneeMan on Dec 23rd, 2008 at 6:57pm
U think you could weld a plow on to the front of a Jaguar S Type?

Brian, don't even think of doing that to your Jag. That just isn't right man.

Call the Mayor and your councilman and give them a time limit till you call the MEDIA 1 hour is usally enough). Then if it ain't moved - CALL THE MEDIA! That usually gets results really quick. For some reason the media can get thru to them when they ain't answering the phone. :) Sometimes ya just gotta get their attention!

Title: Re: Government gone wild Post by BMoneeTheMoneeMan on Dec 24th, 2008 at 11:21am
Lol, Marc. A snow plow is what the government uses to efficiently and effectively kick the people while they are down.
DAMN IT!!! A branch fell on my shed and crushed the roof. I just bought that thing earlier this year!! SHIIIIIIIT. |

So, that white stuff just falls out of the sky and piles up everywhere? Looks kinda cold and slippery....... ;D
I was born in Connecticut where we lived way out in woods and had to deal with it all on our own. We had to have our own generators, huge wood piles and always enough food stocked for the inevitable week of being snowed in. Those memories are enough to keep me in Southern climates in my old age. My wife is busy in the kitchen with tomorrow’s feast, so I’m putting some ribeye’s on the grill this afternoon to go with some truly excellent home brew Wheat beer that I brought back from a 10 day trip to Palm Beach. I heard that we had a cold front come through last week while I was gone, but today it’s 70 degrees and sunny after plummeting to 55 last night. Guess I’ll have to stoke up the fire tonight and keep the windows open so we don’t get too warm. |
