Title: Father-in-law's Puter
Post by Rolomatic on Dec 29th, 2008 at 8:38pm
My Father-in-law hosed up his computer on Saturday (needs it so he can watch his two stocks, one $70 and one $80) ;D. He called yesterday and asked if I could reload it and upgrade it. I agreed to it as long as I would have two days to mess whit it. He dropped it off at 2pm Sunday. The phone is ringing at 10:30 this morning and he is giving me the withdrawal snivel.

I had the new HD and OS updated to SP3, MP11, and IE7 by 10pm. All the WP (Acrobat, MS office, WP) programs and AV by 11:30 and gave up for the night.

The dam Earthlink socket program sucks! It’s been a long time since I have had to do a snail connection… Then I kept having issues with IE connecting of course, but I could connect outlook express and it worked until restart of course.

I got at all wrapped up this afternoon at 4pm and he was here from 70mi away in no time… I even transferred all his bookmarks and email/address book in Outlook.

Tell me where you can get service like that? I know I got it right because I don’t wana hear back about it at all.

Roland.

My services are good, but more suited to more violent or intimate environs...  [smiley=sgrin.gif]

LMAO My boyfriend would sympathize with you there. He's an IT Tech and I'm forever bugging him to fix mine or my families computers and what not. Hugs for helping and know that those of us who know squat about computers love people like you!

A big w00t for Roland,

I hope you put a stock ticker in his panel so he doesn't even have to bring up a browser.

I even learned something. I had no idea people still used IE or Outlook. I also didn't know people identified OS's by their patch level. If any 'doze users bother me I will send them your way. I am sure that I scared them away with a LART so don't worry.

I do feel for you. I recently had to VNC into a box because Microsoft software wouldn't install on a Microsoft OS ( you can guess which one, SP-4) I didn't realize how useless the command line is on a Microsoft windows product.

I wonder why it is that every single time Paul or Kirk are in a   thread that I read...my mind goes blank.   ;D ;D ;D

and make me wonder how I got as  far on a computer that I have....Paul?  Kirk?   I hope you know I love you.   I just don't ever understand a word of what you're saying.
