Title: New To The Support Team
Post by spearhead on Dec 30th, 2008 at 2:05pm
Hello All,

For the past three years my husband has suffered from what we now know are CH's.  Today, after much suffering and countless failed attempts to make them stop, he is finally going to the doctor for help.  We've noted several of the treatments mentioned on this site.  He will take these suggestions with him today - thanks to all that took the time to share them.

I've read several posts from supporters who I can relate to.  I stand helpless but supportive.  When it hits he cannot be around people or noise.  He has to be alone.  He cannot be touched during this time.  He sits quietly with his eyes closed, holding his head or the back of his neck.  Other times the pain is so intense and prolonged that he falls on all fours to the floor and tips his head upside down.  Other times he'll try to eat or drink something if the pain is just starting.  He can't sleep through the night.  The pain will wake him up out of a dead sleep.  I'll hear him rise and pace, or just stand motionless in one spot until it subsides.  He'll lay back down and just get back to sleep when it will start all over again.  The headaches seem to intensify during the winter months for some reason.  These past few months have been hell for him.  They just keep coming, one right after the other with no time out.  They used to attack at night.  Now they come randomly at all hours of the day.

I am here - open to suggestions from other supporters out there.  I have come to understand that I am actually helping him by allowing him the space and time to work through the pain but it's still difficult watching the person you love suffer so much.

My husband also visited this site today during his lunch break at work and could not stop reading some of the posts and articles.  I am sure you'll be meeting him shortly.

Anyway, it's great to be here.  We have much to learn from all of you.

Thanks to all..... [smiley=thumb.gif]

Welcome home! Hugs for caring enough to be here.

I'm a supporter as well so I get the helpless thing. Sometimes it's worse then others. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you guys for some relief very soon.

Feel free to message me anytime, I have good ears (eyes as the case may be) and a comfy shoulder should you need it.

Minxy

I just signed up as well and let me tell you the knowledge you receive from all the Clusterheads is unbelievable and much appreciated!
The most important info I took away from the experts in my two days on site, is to get Joe on O2 because it has helped 70% of the CHs to defeat the beast in a timely manner. So that is exactly what I did and tomorrow Joe will be getting his O2 delivered; what a relief to know he will not suffer for long period of times any more! There is not a cure but there is relief! I am sure you will be getting a lot of responses, just as I did and please feel free to reach out at anytime!

I felt hopeless yesterday but today I am armed with knowledge!
Monica :)

I wish I had a dime for every time I have read that over the last ten years.  Knowledge is power over this condition.

Spearhead...I am so glad you're here.  Ask questions, read and KNOW that you are among friends and that you are appreciated as a wonderful supporter.  We would be lost without you.  I look forward to your husband joining in.  ;)

Linda

Glad you found us. I found this site about 10 years ago for my husband, and it's been great for us. I'm a supporter too, and we learned about oxygen here. It's been a Godsend for my husband (Guiseppi).

Welcome!
