Because it's three o'clock in the afternoon, I've ensured a barmaid will get paid this week, and tonight's barbeque is going to be an absolute bloody corker!

More importantly, what are you doing here at this hour?

i'm doing the same thing jonny's doing. staying off the road. i've been horse assin' around with the electrical problems in the house. over christmas the pipes in my house busted so i spent about 3 days on that. and the firewood. i got alot a shit to do and no time to get it done. right now i'm drinking my first glass of wine, goofing off on the board, and procrastinating.

what do you do brian? do you own a bar? i'll be a barbeque   over there would be an awesome party.

With what I spend there I should bloody own it. Would've been cheaper to buy it in the first place.

And as to an Aussie barbeque, you Americans have been giving us lessons on the grill but our beer is still better than yours.

Warm beer??!!!  Sir, you insult me.

Do you think this is some third-world country without electricity, or that we're simply bereft of the intelligence required to properly chill a brew?

We have a name for warm beer here but, along with all other decent people at ch.com, I choose not to use such words publicly.

;D well hell i don't know. your on the other side of the world from me. even things people do in idaho might seem strange to a city boy from chicago or boston. there's allot good beer up into montana, oregan and colorado. there's alot of good micro  breweries scattered out across the country.  i'll bet the beer over there is pretty good.  i've never had any beer from over there.

Well, now that you ask, I suppose I should tell you....

After going to church (yes, CHURCH!!!) with two guys (Butch and Jim) from the building, I decided to spend a quiet night with my latest boytoy/lover/boyfriend, Bob.

Sadly, our night was interrupted by three calls (in less than five minutes, and at 10:30pm) by Jim's girlfriend (who lives in Florida) looking for Jim. Yes, yes, I behaved myself!! I could have said:

"he's next to me asleep - I wore him out"
"he's back in line, and I believe he's up next - damn, the guys just keep coming and coming and coming...."
"he's in the shower - it was awfully sweaty sex"
"I offered him a chocolate brownie if he'd clean my bathtub and toilet with his toothbrush - he's mostly done so I'll have him call in about 30 minutes"
"I don't think they have phone in the orgy room in this building"
"I fed him tequila then turned the numbers on his apartment door upside down - he's probably still looking for his apartment"

Instead I went up and pounded on his door, was unsuccessful in waking him, and had to call his girlfriend back and tell her. Being the sweet thing I am, I wrote him a note to slide under his door telling him she called - as I was walking out to take it up to him, he knocked on my door. Nuttin' quite like having a new guy friend's girlfriend call you trying to find him, then have them chat in *your* place - if they had started any of that phone s*x crap, he woulda been both outta here and a former new guy friend (not that I mind that phone stuff, but not in my place when I'm not part of it!!)

So, that's my night.

I am working !!

Some inconsiderate blokes had a BBQ, too much fun and too much beer. One of them fell off the balcony into the pergola below splitting his head open and I had the honour of stitching him up.

No wonder they call this the "silly season " !  ::)

Hope everyone else had a better and safer day.

British Real Ale or Guinness, now THAT'S beer

Of course!

It is only pissy lager type beers you have to chill.

Real ale and great red wine you drink warm to show the full depth of flavour.

Aussie and American beer and lager have the depth of flavour of a small puddle

Yawn . . . .stretch  . . . Happy New Year everyone.

I got in at 2am.  Brew and son got in at 4am.  Their band played out and I ferried our house guests out to see the band and back home again.  I encountered no one driving erratically and didn't encounter much traffic at all!  I was the designated driver which is no problem for me since I don't drink.

Now it's time for leftover beef tenderloin to go into the crockpot with some other goodies for tenderloin tips over noodles.

And for me, yet another cup o coffee . . . .

Stretch  . . . . welcome 2009

I kinda' like some of the pissy beers. I really like Asahi Super Dry, and I like Corona or Dos Equis Dark, with a wedge of lime. I'm not much of a beer drinker, though. Anything but Budweiser or Heineken, basically.

I personally don't think beer has to have the consistincy of sludge in order to taste good.  I also think it's a regional thing.

I happen to like an ice cold Michelob Ultra (or Busch Light when I feel like a different taste), but that's just me. :P

Of course, I really don't drink anymore, instead I have sips of my hubby's when I want the taste of one.

I don't know any beers with a consistency of sludge.

There are "smooth" beers and stouts but they aren't sludge

You need to drink Guinness in Ireland where it is brewed, then I promise you would LOVE it. It doesn't travel well, honest!

Guiness?  If I wanted warm, black coffee, I'd have ordered warm, black coffee. You don't need a beer tap for it so much as a sludge pump.

But you cannot claim Fosters is good for you. Guinness IS good for you, the Americans say so so it must be right! (see link below)

It even contains some of the same anti-oxidants as fruit and veg!

1) High iron content

2) High vitamin B (from the brewer's yeast)

3) Lower calories than many other beers (just 125 per 12 oz)

4) Proven benefit in lowering risk of blood clots

5) Antioxidants

I was even told to drink it when I was breastfeeding. Now that is MY kind of medical advice  ;D

A good winter statistic Canadian style about beer.......
98% of Canadians say "oh shit" when they slide into the ditch on a slippery road, but the other 2% from British Columbia say "hold my beer and watch this".   lol

Mel, this little guy is kinda special because we bought him as more of a joke when our friends showed up with two Furby's about 6 years ago or so?
Later on we found out he resembled a certain "Gremlin Character" with his color. They discontinued this one right away but we like him so he sits with us on my desk.

And no, there are no batteries in him so I am not sitting here talking to a stuffed, electronic rodent! LOL ;D

Thanks kids. I finally got out to get pills and work on using my grocery gift card. After a fistfull of Tylenol, things are looking up. On Sunday, I fell in my garage while mashing down plastic milk cartons for recycling and nearly broke a rib or two. If I had been drunk, it would have made some sense but noooooooooo.  It was 2008's final farewell to me. It will take a lot for 2009 to come close to the mess of last year.

Yes. I'm a Monk fan. I became one a few years ago during another marathon while recovering from the flu. Made my weekend back then.
