Has anyone been successful in having Medicare approve and pay for oxygen for cluster headaches?

Get it yourself, it's not all that expensive and well worth the money.

I have no experience with medicare. I'm a kaiser guy and for years they wouldn't pay for it so I bought it myself. $4.25 a month for each E-tank I rented and $11.25 each time I had them filled. Well worth the money.

Hey Joe,

Medicare will cover oxygen therapy as an abortive for cluster headaches... BUT...  The prescription must be written properly or you'll be in for major delays and/or a possible refusal of coverage. The Rx for oxygen therapy should be written exactly as follows:

"Oxygen therapy with a non-rebreather mask as an abortive for cluster headache pain.  Administer at onset of attacks at a flow rate 12-15 liters per minute for up to 20 minutes per hour, up to 12 times per day.”
