Title: Anyone like cats? Warning: lots of pics
Post by Garys_Girl on Jan 10th, 2009 at 4:39pm
Gary and I always loved dogs, but never had a schedule for one.  Then a cat adopted us.  And another one, and another one, and.... well - six years later, we have 7.  And have rescued and rehomed hundreds.  Started a no kill shelter.  And two websites.  Needless to say... we love cats.   ;D

Was organizing photos... and realized WHAT a little helper our Sheldon is.

Warning:  I'm not a very good photographer with not a very good camera.

Those are so cute!  Especially "deeping daddy's sandal warm" and "seeing no evil, hearing no evil".  And asleep on daddy's coat is just precious.

Callie likes to help me make the bed up.  She's convinced there are boogers in the bed under the sheets and she has to kill them all before I can finish making the bed up.  We have four, two full-sisters, Callie and BB (Callie is a calico and BB is a snowshoe siamese) and then their half brothers who are full to each other, Graybaby and Littleboy (Graybaby is charcoal gray with lighter gray markings and Littleboy is a snowshoe siamese).

I love cats.   I only have Max.  Big neutered Tom.  He's more than jut my pet though he's my familiar.  (Witchy term)

He's only underfoot when I'm in the Kitchen cooking  or it's breakfast or supper time for him.

It did take some training to get him to stop stepping on my face in the middle of the night.  Nothing abusive mind you.  I simply closed my bedroom door to not allow him in over night.

Only took 3 rounds of that for him to find his right place at the foot of the bed and not to climb on me in the night.

Tomorrow I need to go get him more catnip, I ran out.  The store stuff seems rather weak compaired to the fresh that a co-worker had brought me that really sent the boy into a state of pure bliss.

Anyway,  He's my baby, my friend.

I like other people's cats. Cats are my only allergy......although I usually get used to them in a few days. I love the ones that kill stuff in my yard though. God bless 'em.

Cute puddy tats kids!

I love all of these pics of cats! Thank you so much, guys. :)

I'm a guinea pig person, who liked dogs growing up and now adores cats thanks to one adorable creature called Kosh. Kosh, my former landlady's cat simply adopted me and when I went to visit London back in 2007, I went to visit him, too. Naturally he was too busy to show up... ;D

My cousin and her husband have 2 kittens right now. I can't wait to meet the "terrible duo" in person! They're ragdolls and I hear they're adorable.

I was attacked by a siamese cat when I was a child.  Scared of them to this day. Other than that, I love them, but the hair shedding makes me nuts.

Tom, Buxton is a handsome fellow. :)

This is the vengeful, fluffy, bitch-goddess Kiki, stretched out for a nap after a hard morning of attacking little girls. (Sorry, Langa....) Hee hee...

Thank you, Frank. Your Kiki is cute. That is what I call "Scratch my belly, daddy!!!" I simply adore my kitty and love cats in general.

Langa--it was not a Siamese cat that attacked you, it was a cat trying to tell you he/she wanted your love and attention and that he/she was in charge...  :) I brush Buxton frequently to keep the shedding down. No hairballs for my kitty. And I bought him his own blankie that sits next to my pillow so he has a place to sleep next to me when I have my month of custody. [Me and my ex share custody.]

Here is another of my little buddy, Buxton. [I can't resist]

Share custody of a CAT?

I adore cats...but I must admit that a custody arrangement much like that in place for children seems a little over the top.

But that is just me...(Divorced with children)  8-)

This is Etta, the youngling.  She likes to hang with me--I can't go anywhere in the house without Etta turning up.

We have two others.

I can't find Podkayne, the tortiseshell.  She hides in obscure locations throughout the day, drooling on her catnip-stuffed yarn monkey.  Podkayne is a catnip junkie.  She'll show up when it's time to eat.

All-black Fedora is old.  She's sleeping now.  I think she would prefer not to be photographed.

Best,

George

Potter, your cat G.B. reminds me of a cat named Fatty that I knew when I was a kid.  Fatty was struck by lightning.  He never looked or acted quite right afterwards either.

I can't imagine I'd be quite the same after getting kicked in the head by a cow, either. (Then again, for me, it might be an improvement...)

Awww....I luvluvluvluv kitties....but my man is terribly allergic.  :P  So I live vicariously through other people's cats.

Potter- you could use your kitty as a poster-pet for CH!  (At least, that's what it FEELS like!)  That's just so heartbreaking...I am amazed that it didn't crush his skull.

but, did y'all know that's why David Bowie looks like he has 2 different colored eyes?  His best friend punched him (with a ring on) as a youth in a fight over a girl, and one pupil's permanently dilated.

Paige, I'm terribly allergic to cats, I just love 'em enough.  I take zyrtec, I have steroid cream for the hives, we brush them constantly to help with the shedding, wipe 'em down every day, vacuum all the time. have pretty much all the furniture covered with throw blankets we wash all the time.....  lots of people who have cats and are allergic don't let 'em in the bedroom, but I can't do it.   ;D

Frank - your Winston looks JUST like a kitty we rescued and adopted out!  This pair of brothers turned up this summer:  we named them Billy and Bing (Bing is the grey one).

START PRINTPAGEMultimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or RegisterEND PRINTPAGE

We couldn't stand seeing Billy alone as the weather got colder and wetter.... so he was our 7th.  We tried so hard to adopt them out together - but they were already over a year old and living outside, so that was just too difficult.  Hated to split them up.  But we live in an RV, so talking in both was just out of the question.

Here's Billy now:

Tom - your Buxton is GORGEOUS.

Potter - I just want to pick up your G.B. and kiss that crazy face!

George - we've got a soft spot for the tuxedo kitties.  Four of ours are black & white.  :)

MORE PICS PLEASE!

Laurie   ;D

"Floppy" is good.   ;D

True.  They won't try to save you.  They might watch the progress of one's death as an interested observer.  Saving stuff just isn't what they do.  Then again, a hamster won't try to save you either.

"They kill babies" is an old canard.  I don't believe cats kill babies.  In truth, I don't think they care much for babies at all.  Babies do uncanny things, and they have grabby fingers.  Cats don't like anything that's weird and grabby.  That said, I've often been glad domestic cats aren't the size of a St. Bernard.   ;)

Best,

George

Winston was rescued from a barn. He was one of several, at the time. I found out later that all of his litter-mates had either been stomped to death by the horses, or ended up as coyote chow.  :-/

Last summer, the neighbor's Boston terrier came trotting over into our yard. Winston leapt over a 3' chainlink fence and tore ass after that dog, growling in a way I've never heard him growl before. That terrier took off hellbent for leather with Winston hot on his heels. That dog has never come back, since.  ;D ;D

And he surely was in charge.  He ha already attached one of my nieces and one time I was home alone and it's he did a Dr. Jeckyl and Mr. Hide.  Just jumped on me and sliced my hand between my pink and ring finger.  Then I ran to hide in the closet, where I stayed while he waited outside.  Three hours later my Mom showed up and rescued me.  We had to get rid of it.

I would love to have one of those weird cats with no hair - like Dr. Evil.

Want to meet another one?

This is Flowerbelle (we named her Flowebelle Lee, after the Mae West character in My Little Chickadee, because she needed to be a strong woman to survive!).

When she was brought to the vet, he gave her a 30% chance of survival.  This is after two weeks at the hospital:

She IS adorable!  And has the cutest personality.  Those are old pics - she turned five this fall.  She's our teeny kitty.  I know there are smaller breeds, but they seem to run big out here.  Our first rescue (now 6) is 18 pounds - and he's not fat.  His brothers are 15 pounds (skinny - the first kitty I posted pics of, Shelly) and 13 pounds (solid).  Their sister is 11 pounds (lady like :) ).  The one we just rescued, Billy, is a comfortable 11 pounds.  Our handicapped kitty is a rotund 9 pounds (smaller frame).  Flowerbelle is just 6 pounds - and she eats like a maniac.   ;D
