Title: Celebrex??
Post by kika on Jan 13th, 2009 at 11:39am
The shadows have started, so I went to my neuro this am, who is going to try me on 200 mg celebrex twice daily, as well as verapamil as a preventative. Anyone heard of using celebrex with CH's?

TIA

I was on celebrex for years for arthritis and it never did anything for my clusters....worked good for arthritis, until it was pulled off the market here.

Some years ago his class of meds was tried with CH because of their effectiveness with migriane. But they don't work for us.

Now, if he is trying them for shadows??? New on me, but surely not for the primary attack.

Here is a link to read and print and take to your doctor.  It describes preventive, transitional, abortive and surgical treatments for CH. Written by one of the better headache docs in the U.S.  (2002)

Thanks for the info. I DO think he is thinking of it as a preventative

I had a pain management doc want to try it on me.

My pharmacist refused as I'd reacted to Vioxx and some other COX2 inhibitiors. So I have utterly no idea if it works or not.
