Title: Canada votes alone for Israel Post by Iddy on Jan 14th, 2009 at 12:40pm
On January 12th before a United Nations human rights counsil Canada was the only one of 47 nations to oppose a motion condemming the Israeli military offensive in Gaza.
Thirty three nations voted for the motion and 13 nations mostly European, abstained. The United States, regarded as Israel's greatest ally,is not a member or the council. These are not my words they are from a Toronto daily paper. This is a very serious issue and it is not my intention to create any type of debate on the subject. :'( :'( What I found interesting was an arcticle in another Toronto paper written the same day. January 13 I wish I was better skilled with computers so I could make accsess to the particular piece easier for those of you interested in reading it The newspaper is the Toronto Sun. The man who wrote the column is named Peter Worthington. The title is" Israel can learn from the Iroquois" Walk in Peace |

Two thumbs up for Canada.
Gotta say... in my adult life, the UN has been a pretty worthless organization. Can anyone remind me why we continue to acknowledge the UN's existence? |

The UN and what it's for..
It's a government tax dodge? Government money laundering? (cos lets face it, government is the biggest racket going) Somewhere to put all the useless twonks so they can't do damage anywhere else? Time it was disbanded |

It would be the job of the "United Nations Human Rights Council" to watch that all UN members maintain the Human Rights. But some countries, with the backing of Uncle Sam, think they can drop white phosphor bombs on civilians, although they are banned for over 50 years (at least in civilized countries).
Shame on all onlookers. :'( [smiley=smokin.gif] |

Unrelated, but it was nice to hear the President-elect Obama's first official state visit will be to Canada...it will be great if USA-Can relations can be restored to what they have been in the past.

Those funny Canadians...... 8-) Decent types, aren't they.
On the UN. It doesn't do what we like a good part of the time but don't be happy about it. Too often I hear or read articles that seem almost elated about it. It would be a good if it were more effective. Charlie |
