Title: Jeff's Mom has passed
Post by kayarr on Jan 19th, 2009 at 8:08pm
It is a sad day, a contemplative day, a day of praise and thanksgiving for the grace and mercy of a loving God who takes care of the details and actually cares about them as well.

She is now, and without the walker, dancing and singing!  Just like she wanted to.  Praise God!

Jeff and Kimberly

Kim, I am so sorry.

You both have my deepest sympathy.  It sounds like this was the end of a long battle.

May she now rest peacefully in the arms of the Lord.

Dear Jeff and Kimberly,

"But I would not have you to be ignorant brethren concerning those which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope."

I'm glad she was ready, and I'm glad also for the grace God gave.  You will be in our prayers.

This poem by James Weldon Johnson has been a great comfort to me in the past, and I'd like to share it with you.  I think Wintley Phipps does a good job of presenting it.

I'm sorry you'll be missing her, but happy she's in a better place with no more pain.  I'll always miss mine.  But it really does get better one day at a time.  Wishing your family comfort during this time.

Hugs,
Langa

Thank you all very much.  Your prayers and thoughts can be felt and are very much appreciated.

Charlotte moved down here (Portland, Ore.) from Tacoma, Wa. in May of 2007.  She was ill with pnuemonia and was recouping at our house.  She had a series of health problems and she stayed here for about 8 months.

After she got physically well enough she moved into an assisted living place near us.

I know all of this sounds a little commonplace but in my eyes she was an extraordinarily strong woman.  She was not one for change.  In one fell swoop all that she knew was different.  Her home, her habits, her life.  She felt as if she had no control over anything any more.  2007 brought her losing her driving priviliges, quitting smoking, quitting drinking, different eating habits and new social network. She even had to find a new hair dresser.

She buckled down and made the changes (not without a protest:) and ended up having a nice little life going on.

I salute her spirit, her resolve and the opportunity she gave her family for healing.

She will be missed and is always loved.
