Title: Question Post by Tophurious on Jan 25th, 2009 at 2:27am
I was reading that some research as shown that there are some correlation to serotonin levels and CHs. I'm not too knowledgeable on the subject but I have had friends who did a lot of MDMA and used 5-HTP tablets to help their come downs be easier (or so I'm told, I've never done MDMA). Has anyone looked into 5-HTP as some sort of treatment for CH? I'm fairly certain 5-HTP helps increase the serotonin levels in the brain but I don't know if the correlation I mentioned above means low serotonin levels or high serotonin levels during an attack.

Hey Tophur,
If you do a Google Custom Search at the upper right hand corner of the page (entering 5htp), it pulls up posts where 5HTP has been talked about. |

I think my serotonin factories are just screwed up sometimes. I also can have pretty chronic depression and other mood disorders you get from serotonin issues. I can say that the Beast didn't mind before, during, or after I was on Prozac, though... ;-)

Long ago, in a cycle far, far away (before Relpax and O2) I tested several drugs not readily available from the pharmacist. I'll save my 2 cents on whether or not they're any worse/better than pharmaceuticals with FDA approval for another thread.
Here is what I found: Marijuana, as I'm sure others have found out the hard way, was a trigger rather than an abortive. MDMA: I have to say, that while on MDMA I had zero attacks. Not only that, I was pain free for 1-2 days afterward. However, it should be noted that I tested each ecstasy tablet I ingested with a kit to determine what exactly was in it... if it tested positive for anything other than MDMA I didn't take it. Cocaine: Much like MDMA I was pain free after ingestion. Again, all substances were tested before ingestion. Unlike MDMA, however, I wasn't pain free the next day. I would hypothesize that this was probably due to the topical anaesthetic nature. I'm by no means advocating the use of these substances. Personally I find cocaine to be a disgusting drug. And MDMA, like any drug that messes about with the serotonin, can have several serious side effects. Just my personal experience, for what it's worth. Mason |

Thanks for the info, Mason...some people get seem to get really personally "attached" to their illegal drugs and won't listen to reason, so it's refreshing to hear from someone who has taken a more unbiased view of them. Weed has been discussed to death, and it's a known vaso-dilator to boot, but there's still a few holdouts who refuse to give it up... :D
