I need to find which file does a startup log (like when the puter is turned on/accessed.
Something is amiss :( oh ... I have windows XP |

Not sure what you mean by 'startup log'. You mean you want to see when it was used?
Start/Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Event Viewer. System Log will show you different system events... from the times of those you can see when it was fired up. |

There are some tasks that happen at shutdown that should be in the logs. You should see services terminating. For example... The Event log service was stopped. right before a gap in the times on the log. I have to step out. I will PM you my cell #. |

There is a command you can "RUN" called "msconfig". You can look at the "startup" tab and see if it begins there. It is a simple matter of checking or un-checking a box to see if that corrects the problem with the next reboot.
It is a bit more complicated if this is a "service" for that, you could "RUN" "services.msc", you could probably ignore anything from Microsoft.... Let me know if any of this helped. Ray |
