Title: No School
Post by Lobster on Jan 27th, 2009 at 10:50pm
About two hours ago word went out... no school tomorrow.
You know... it is extremely dangerous driving around in this.

So... since word was passed... my daughter has 3 girls here and is expecting 3 more... all dropped off by stressed-out parents wondering if they will make it home.  They are already making the poor Domino's guy drive his ass out here... they would perish without their Brooklyn-style pizzas and mounds of Cheesy-Bread.

Their plans?  Watch a quiet movie?  Nope... Rock Band and Guitar Hero and Shaun White Snowboarding and anything else that makes a half dozen 14 & 15 year olds scream.

Heh heh... good thing Dad could sleep through a nuclear attack.  I added a medium thin-crust to the order for myself!

Joe

(Jeesh...locked INSIDE with 14-15 year olds.......waterboarding doesn't even hold a candle!!!!!!)

Don't ask . . . .

Don't do it, Pat . . . . don't ask . . . you'll regret it . . . . . .

How much snow are you expecting?

Heh heh heh... 5-6 inches.  The town closes for that around here.

The woodstove is full for the night, and the pizza is in my belly, escorted by an honor guard of Bud Light Limes.

And with that... bedtime.  Goodnight all!

School's cancelled here too.  We're expecting another foot or so.  All depends on if/when the "Wintery Mix" makes it up to the Merrimac Valley.

Personnally I'm hoping for all snow.  It's lighter and easier to throw. :-/

Your storm missed us almost completely - a dusting this morning is all.

Good luck to all in its path.

Pretty picture! And Pat I love that mosiac on your icon!  I couldn't get warm last night - please don't hit me - but it was cold for us. In fact at 8:00 I just went to bed so I could get warm. Maybe I'm coming down with something, still can't get warm this morning.

Yep!  Slept in a bit this morning.

Would post a pic, but Beth already did, and she lives in my basement.

well.......we never made it to the hospital.  Our road is a sheet of ice. Hills to the left, hills to the right... I chose right.  Wrong choice.

The car ended up sideways halfway up and took us 45 mins to get it straightened up, back down the hill, and not in the ditch on either side.

Nobody hurt, no dents, surgery rescheduled for next Weds, so we'll count that as a success :)

You know what it is that I like about the snow???    Besides it being pretty....... of course.     If you look outside my window you'll see several of my neighbors out shoveling their walks or digging their cars out.  They are helping each other.  The man in the neighborhood with the snow blower goes to to elderly neighbors houses and cleans their walks.     If he doesn't get to it before someone has already done it by hand.     If someone's car gets stuck in the snow, EVERYONE stops what they are doing to push  them out.

In a time where everyone seems to only worry about themselves, the snow just seems to bring our community together... It warms my heart!

Visiting it.

Okay... I'll admit I would be happy if I lived on the beach but got to VISIT snow.       It doesn't usually snow all that much here anymore so I do enjoy it when it does.
