Helen, Have you ever had the 'pleasure' of a Denney's meal?
Personally, I'd rather eat bark.....why, I'd rather eat Chuck's peeping tom eggs...............I'd prefer to drink draino!
But, free IS, after all, free! betcha the places were packed!
Mindful of the fact that ya get whatcha pay for! ;)

Denny's..... I would have to go 65 miles to get to one. Have to try Friendlys or McDonalds if I go out....Friendlys is too damned expensive for what it is though. No Ihop here either. Anyone ever eat breakfast at Wendys? Never tried that one.

You did make me hungry though.

Gotta get the Bisquick. START PRINTPAGEMultimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or RegisterEND PRINTPAGE

I am sure Denny's all over the place will be packed Tuesday morning.  Too bad there isnt one closer than 90 miles away from me.

When you eat free food, you get what you pay for.

I'll bet there are a lot of people who will be very grateful for that free meal.

It's not worth the price.

I'll bet you're correct.

I'll also bet they've got the time to stand in line for it.

A sobering U.S. Labor Department jobs report Friday showed the economy lost 524,000 jobs in December and 1.9 million in the year's final four months, after the credit crisis began in September.

I'll bet you are right Bill. :'(

No judgement here. In fact, probably less so than there might have been just months ago. It's the whole "There but for the grace of God go I" thing.

No, I'm making extra sure that all my i's are dotted and my t's are crossed these days. One never knows when the man might knock on one's door.

I wasn't suggesting there was any judgement, Bill.  Sorry it came across that way.

Being I was one of those "pink slipped"...I was simply stating my agreementwith you from my personal vantage point, as to why they have the time on their hands.

Where's the love for the Grand Slam?  For the price, it's not a bad breakfast.  As a college student, the fact that I could get a full breakfast for $1.99 and a bottomless cuppa joe made me quite happy.

However, the service at Denny's has dropped off the chart, so I don't go often anymore, and their prices have gone up.  Free grand slam pretty much rocks, IMHO.  If I had time, I'd go.

Indeed.... especially at 2AM.

The nearest Denny's here was about 20 miles away.  Service was decent, especially if you treated the staff with a bit of respect.  It closed a year ago for no particular reason.

None of the local eateries offer late night breakfast.  As such, a small crowd ends up at my house around 3AM at least every few weeks.  We keep a supply of those 'just add water' pancake mix shakers & a few bags of frozen patties.  Easy and does the trick.  Denny's would be easier though.

While I'll concede that the Grand Slam IS great at 2am, for all the Cheeseheads on the board, George Webb's is WAY better at that time.

Two clocks, cheap coffee, greasy food, and at least one waitress named Mom, but in local franchise form!

My son Casey and his friend Nate tried to partake of the free food this AM.  All they found was a restaurant full of "Blue Hairs" and a 40 minute wait time.

Then went home and cooked their own  ;D

"You couldn't beat it. I mean it was a beautiful, beautiful breakfast. It was fit for a queen or a king," diner Annah Shoffner told CNN affiliate WNCN-TV in Raleigh, North Carolina.

See that?  Kings & queens, you snooty bastards.   [smiley=crackup.gif]
