Title: Jimi... Post by Melissa on Feb 3rd, 2009 at 6:51pm
They just did a piece on Madisonville, KY tonight on ABC World News. Wow, how awful!! And there still won't be power for at least another 2 weeks?? I feel so very bad for everyone!! I am praying for a heat wave real fast! Too bad we can't gather all the heat from CH'ers and send it that way. :(
*hugs* |

Thanks Mel. I was back in the back on the computer when Jayne yelled, Come quickly, they are talking about Madisonville. So I ran in there and saw it as well.
We are still at Jayne's. We drove up to Madisonville today. The ice is all gone, but the trees look like a nucleur bomb went off on the trees and left the houses standing. It is supposed to get down to 6 degrees tonight with a windchill factor of 0. They found one man frozen in his home with his arms around the hot water heater and there have been 24 reported deaths in Ky.of people dying of carbon monoxide poisoning due to putting a generator inside the house instead of outside. So foolish and so sad. We saw trucks with cheery pickers from all over the country working on the powerlines and replacing poles. They say it takes 4 hours to put up a new pole so that is what is taking so long. We have power in over 50% of the city and are hoping to have ours within the next couple of days. |

Figured not everyone had a place to go or experience with this. Sad results. |

How very sad.The magnitude of the suffering is hard to imagine.
I can only pray for those who passed and hope those enduring the situation are shown some mercy. :'( :'( |

My deepest sympathies, Jimi ... Not only being forced out of your home, but being forced into such tortuous conditions as you are forced to live. That is cruel and unusual treatment! Let's hope that this inhumane treatment is over soon, and you can get back to your own home. Chuck (Luvz ya, Jayne! Thanks for taking such good care of our Jimi and Ruth!) |

Ruth and Jimi - we are grateful that you at least have shelter from this awful weather.
How very sad to hear about lives lost. Hang in there guys - hopefully you'll be able to be back in your own nest soon. Hugs to you both and to Jayne Carol |

Hope they get your power on very soon. You all must be getting anxious to get home. Such a sad thing about the lives lost.
My home town in Arkansas was hit really hard too but not as bad as Madisonville. So glad you all had a good place to hang out. Love to you both, Jackie |

Hope that you and Ruth are able to get back into your home soon, Jimi.
Get some help on those trees, okay? I know they've got to be dealt with and you're probably going to be itching to get them taken care of, but limbing trees in 6 degree weather is for guys with heavy equipment. And don't be too concerned--the trees will probably look like hell for a couple of years, but unless they're split right down the trunk, they'll come back just fine. Best wishes, George |

Jimi and Ruthi..
Don't want you to think I didn't care, but I have been reading this thread...I'm so glad you had a good friend in Jayne. Jayne, you're "the best Jerry, the best"!! I hope Madisonville gets back to normal soon - I cannot BELIEVE that more emergency workers haven't been sent in to work faster. At four hours per power line, they need a hell of a lot more it seems. It's deplorable and sad that people are dying because of this situation. Hopefully Jimi, you aren't driving Miss Ruthi and Jayne to drink. But ... oh never mind. Stay safe, we're prayin' for youse :) Pepp & Cheeki |

WOW!! Saw all the pics on the news......what a mess!! I know many people from this area have gone down to southern Missouri, Arkansas, and Kentucky to help out. Hope they get the power back on for you soon. Keep warm Ruthi!
Hugs, Beth |
