Title: My computer won't Post by midwestbeth on Feb 4th, 2009 at 11:48am
Talk to my printer anymore. This is my work computer and it is a pita to switch to the laptop everytime I have to print something.
I had the computer guy out when I switched from wireless to DSL (when the problem 1st started). He re-installed the driver and everything worked ok for a few weeks. Problem started again and the computer guy (after a couple days) said my network card in the printer must be bad. Had the printer guy out yesterday (he's a computer geek too) and he couldn't get the driver to install either. I have defraged a couple times, updated and ran two anti-virus programs, updated and ran spybot and ccleaner. Could I have a virus that is not being detected? I'm clueless when it comes to this stuff. Anyone have a idea what it could be? |

If you are printing over a network, does your printer have a static IP address assigned? If it is changing addresses on you, then your work computer might have the wrong address. I'd start there.
If that speak is too geek for you then PM me your phone number and I can try to call you, but not til later this afternoon/evening some time. |

It sure sounds like your doom-a-flogger wiped out your whiz-ma-tang, and then that cause your whoozie-dinger to crash your ting-a-ling. And EVERYONE knows a crashed ting-a-ling is CURTAINS for whiz-banging! Is that clear? Chuck |

My printer does have an ip address. I only know this because the priter guy gave me a sheet he printed out and circled it for me. He didn't say anything about it changing. He did say that I may have to have my computer wiped and have everything re-installed to resolve the problem. That is an option I do not want to take at this time.
Thanks Chuck...ROFL....sounds like you and I speak the same computer language. ;D |

Beth, you mentioned that the printer has a network card. That would lead us to believe that the printer IS a network printer (others can print to it, if they have the address for it). If it IS a network printer, it would have to have an IP address ...
Or at least so I am led to believe .. If not, the I go back to my original diagnosis .. Chuck |
