Free jonny now!! when i 1st got here and was talking to much crap jonny strightened me right out. I really dont think jonny is the type of person that will be knocked into something. If im right i remember jonny getting a award at a conferance that was held for his work and support of this website, or it may have been for a OUCH event either way, this man has done so much to help people over time and to be treated like this... The rules were implemented for a reason. Take it up with DJ via PM. I don't think the rules are going to change. Almost everyone around here loves the bejeepers out of the guy, but he didn't get thrown under the bus - he threw himself under.

Jeez, Bill.  Is my flat screen getting in the way, or do you seem to be breaking Brew's balls over Jonny's actions?  
It doesn't matter how great of a guy Jonny is, he broke the rules.  The rule does not have an exception for great guys.  If you are a great guy and break the rules, you will be reprimanded.  It's simple.

Am I missing something?

I like the new rules.  

Jonny knew the new rules, and knowingly posed something that was against those rules.

I have had many "discussions" so to speak, with Jonny over the years.  

But here is what I do know.  Jonny, with all his bravado, coarse words, and opinions (which he never hesitates to voice) has always been the first one to offer you the shirt off his own back.

My question is, what the hell is wrong with the new rules?

To me, they appear quite simple.  By all means, express your opinion, but do so in a manner that does not directly attack someone else.

You can call their opinion stupid, idiotic, etc. but you cannot call that person him/her self stupid or an idiot.

It's simple, it's called respect - respect to the person, not necessarily that person's opinion.

You want to protest by sitting out, go ahead.  You want to PM DJ, go ahead.  you want to voice your objection, go ahead.  

I'm just not sure why you made the glass house comment.  It seemed uncalled for.

I think these rules are not just a clusterheadaches.com but a reflection of a change in internet communities as a whole.  It's going from the wild west mentality to more civilized communities as people start to realize why they have rules about assault and slander (or for writing - libel) to begin with - you want to be able to go through your day without someone attacking you because you disagree with someone or they are just in a bad or off mood.   There will of course be places where this is still acceptable, the biker bars of the internet so to speak.  But this is a community of people suffering from a common malady, these headaches,  not a community of people who have all decided they like to play rough with each other.    The rules just say - put on the brakes before you go there.  They don't ask you to be a different person.
