Title: Dancing with the Stars
Post by fubar on Feb 9th, 2009 at 1:56pm
I don't watch this show.  Actually, I kind of can't stand shows like this... BUT

My good friend Steve Wozniak is going to be a contestant on the show this season.  He is the inventor and co-founder of Apple computer.  The guy is my childhood hero, and he is the reason I got into computers.  Over the years, he has become a dear friend, and I want to see him have fun on the show.  He's not the most athletic person on the planet (OK, he's a big guy) so I doubt he'll last very long, but if you watch this show PLEASE vote for him!

I'm going to be watching this for sure.

Wow. So, you been holdin' out on us, eh Shawn? You may, indeed, be one step away from being the "celebrity with CH" that we need around here to get us some attention from the media.

Good luck to Steve - I'll watch when I can! And I'll vote, too!

My wife and I do competitive ball room dancing, we watch the show religiously so she can argue with EVERYTHING  the judges say! ;D

WE'll ping as many votes as we can to Steve!

Hard to predict if enough apeel will blossom to stem into an encore showing.

Then there's the gravity of the affair if he falls.

Lobster,

At work I have to use a PC.  They don't support Macs at all.  But for personal use I have a MacBook Air and a 24" iMac, both of which I love dearly.

I use to think Mac fans were crazy... I mean, all the applications are written for Windows, all the cool stuff on the net only works with IE, right?  Wrong.  Since switching to OS X, I have discovered a whole new world.  Plus, it's a real Unix system now, which sounds scary to most people but is actually a big plus for people like me.

So, yes, I use my PCs,  but I love my Macs.

Heh heh... I just took a stab at that, expecting a different reaction.

Pretty cool that you know The Woz personally.
I am with you... Woz is a little thick in the middle to picture as a dancer.
Still... I would far rather see Woz win than any of those other 'stars' [sic].

heh... not sure what reaction you were expecting.  :)

The Woz is a very approachable person.  I'd bet if you emailed him you would get an answer (eventually).  His email is steve@woz.org.  Mine is shawn@woz.org.

He is truly one of the nicest guys I have ever met.  He is a practical jokester, so that can get interesting.  I could tell some stories.  Having a conversation with him is not for the faint of heart though.  I swear, chatting with him in his office is like having 7-8 different conversations at the same time, and if you can't keep up it can be frustrating.  Luckily, I have ADD as bad as he does, so our conversations are magical.

When I moved to Silicon Valley, it was to be where everything was happening, especially because it was close to The Woz, whom I did not know at all.  I never imagined I would have the opportunity to meet him, let alone befriend him.  I always thought I'd find a way to work for him, but as it turns out, I turned HIM onto his current job as Chief Scientist at a new storage company called Fusion-io.  What a weird world.

Have they announced the partnerships? I did not see the sneak peak last night, have family in town. Any idea with whom Steve will be dancing?

uh... never?

As I told Steve, I think his cajones are bigger than his (enormous) brain.

Besides, nobody knows who I am.  Knowing a famous guy does not make you famous.  :P

He's meeting with his dance partner today for lunch.  I know who she is but I don't know if it is announced yet... Denise Richards.  There, it's announced.

I watch it sometimes.  It can be fun.

Kinda knowing someone who actually knows someone will make it extra fun.

I'll vote for your bud, Fu.....even if he has two left feet.   :)
