Title: A Newbie from CA Post by Sonnie on Feb 12th, 2009 at 4:48pm
Hello all,
I believe I posted on the on old forum (my memory is shot), but am new to this one. On Monday I was diagnosed with CHs by my neurologist. My GP suspected that's what I had but referred me just to confirm. He said, he'd spot it right away and he did. A short history - I've had CHs for nearly four years. At first they'd come and go randomly for short cycles (2-3 days). Then I'd be pain-free for months. But in the last few months they've been a regular occurance. The last cycle lasted 8 days and I had 3 or 4 hits per day. I was in misery and that's when I'd had enough! My neuro has given me Imitrex injections. My cycle is over (I guess I'm what you'd call episodic?) so I haven't had to use them yet (VERY thankful). From what I've read, they work for some but not for others. I've been spending time here reading different topics and learning so much. Above all, I'm glad I'm not alone knowing you all are out there! :) Take care, Sonnie |

Glad you are over your cycle. I am not long over mine so I celebrate with you.
Always good to keep a ready and handy supply of what works for you, so can forget the cycle but reach for the aborts if and when it returns. Best wishes, Ellick. |

Another one of us normal west coasters. There are some very strange people here from the wrong coast, I humor them and pretend to accept them but let's face it...they're different. ;)
Welcome to the board, knowledge is everything. Educate yourself on the board, then partner with your doctor and plan your treatment regimen. If you haven't tried oxygen yet, it should be your first line abortive before the trex. Works as fast as trex with none of the after affects! A big old howdy and welcome to a fellow Californian, glad you found us. Joe |

Welcome, and congrats on being PF. Stock up and be prepared for the next cycle, hoping you never have it and try to forget it for a while and enjoy your PF days!

Thanks guys! I appreciate all the tips you can give me. My dr. hasn't mentioned anything about oxygen.....I must let her know about it. BTW, would I get it from my GP or Neuro?
Yes I'm enjoying being PF at the moment. :) Guiseppi - I hear ya about the "other" coast. ;) |
