Title: Puter help needed
Post by Paul98 on Feb 15th, 2009 at 10:15am
I have been having a problem with web pages partially loading and then IE 7 stalls out and just sits there.  I have cleaned temp folders, cache, cookies, history.   Did disk clean up and defrag the HD.

My server is connected to the satellite service and I'm using wireless from the puter to the server.  On two occasions I have tried to get on the internet and have gotten a log in screen asking for a password to the a secured wireless connection.  (I had tried a long time ago to have a secured wireless connection but never got it to work and being that my neighbors are Amish I don't worry to much.)  I think this is a seperate issue with wireless set up.  the main problem seems to be IE7 stalling out on page loading.

A while back I remember someone posting clearing a win ins? or some other file.  Any suggestions?

-P.

I have similar problems because my cable is frozen up in this fucking weather.

Check if your download speed is near what it is supposed to be. At the moment I get only about 20% of the expected speed.

Two speed checks:

START PRINTPAGEMultimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or RegisterEND PRINTPAGE
START PRINTPAGEMultimedia File Viewing and Clickable Links are available for Registered Members only!!  You need to Login or RegisterEND PRINTPAGE

And yes, there are better browsers than IE:

make sure you reset your modem and router every once in a while.  I know it sounds stupid, but sometimes I think they just need to be refreshed.  Turn them off for 1 minute and then turn back on.

Next I would try mozilla firefox (link above)

What are you running for antivirus?  Norton at least used to take up too much of my systems resources.

If you still have problems, check to make sure your RAM is being recognized and that you have enough for what you are running.
