St Louis sounds like a great spot to have it!!
As of Jan 1, 2009 Oregon is officially never going to get an OUCH convention: You can't smoke anywhere. |

Tres cool. Count us in, party of 3.
Is there some reason this is being announced at clusterheadaches.com before being announced on the OUCH website? |
Title: Re: OUCH conv. announcement Post by Linda_Howell on Feb 17th, 2009 at 4:19pm
Bill,
The Board of Directors just voted on the location. We wanted to get the basic information out as soon as possible, since everyone who will be attending is right here on a daily basis . It will take a few days to put the convention website page up. We have some details still to finalize. |

Yep! I'd like to live there. It is beautiful and much closer to the beach than STL!

Awesome.
We'll be there if 2 factors come into play. 1. If Jesse's vacation that week gets accepted and 2. If we can swing the extra money. :)mel |

Within driving distance, and the Crown Plaza hotel is a great hotel. The first Dallas convention was at the Crown Plaza.
On our calender. [smiley=cool2.gif] |
Title: Re: OUCH conv. announcement Post by Linda_Howell on Feb 18th, 2009 at 1:10am I'll tell someone on the convention cmtee. that there will be a need for a freezer for the penguin then, Chris. ;) Ya know what? and I do have to say this....I have been to every convention (except the 1st. one) and even though I have been on the BoD for 4 years, I have never actually appreciated what details goes into putting on a convention til this year when Jim agreed to chair it. The details are astounding...the price of simple things like coffee service for the meetings, room rates for meetings, auction and dinner costs...UN-FUCKIN BELIEVABLE... calls back and forth to negotiate and re-negotiate costs and needs. Explaining that "No...02 tanks being delivered will not blow up your hotel"... ::) I could go on. I am not on the comte. but my husband and Bill are and I have to hear this stuff every day and it boggles the mind. Well mine anyways. For all of you who hosted and did most of the work in years past....I salute you. This is not an easy job but I think all of you are going to really enjoy this years convention. It's in a centrally located place and they are trying to keep the costs down for all of us. Win-win situation. ;) |
Title: Re: OUCH conv. announcement Post by purpleydog on Feb 18th, 2009 at 2:21am
Linda, hopefully the room will come with a fridge for the penguin. ;)
Just a thought... The Crown has hotels everywhere. Why not try to negotiate a rate if OUCH continues to use them in the future? They usually have transportation to and from the airport, are centrally located, have several activities within walking distance... and like I mentioned... they are in most larger cities. I've stayed in several of their hotels, and have been impressed with each one. St. Louis in July. Charlie will have to bring his air conditioned suit. :P ETA... Maybe the committee can see if the hotel will give us a rate on a few suites too. I know a few folks who would like to have a suite. Ya think they would? |

Oooo - Good one, Carolyn. ;D Maybe if they rented one of those little shuttle busses, all Jimi's friends would be able to go. |

Yeah... It gets a little warm here. Since you guys were here in Jan. on the coldest day we've seen in 10 years, I'd say the odds are against you!

Now that you all have experienced the extremes of St. Louis in January, you want to come back and experience the heat of St. Louis in July!! LOL
Can't wait to see everyone!!!!! If you need any help with anything at all, let me know. Beth :) |
Title: Re: OUCH conv. announcement Post by echo on Feb 18th, 2009 at 11:33am
One big item that could stand in the way of me not being able to attend.
Am I still employed? Guess I'll know the answer to that in the next week or two. |

Does the hotel offer all you can eat donuts? If so, I am so there. :D

Title: Re: OUCH conv. announcement Post by Linda_Howell on Feb 18th, 2009 at 1:44pm
This particular Crown Plaza doesn't have suites, to answer Chris' question.
Unless we have the convention in Northern Canada...July is going to be warm anywhere. Richmond, Dallas, Nashville, Las Vegas, Georgia...were all warm...o.k. HOT. ;D |

Langa, I live a few blocks from one of the few REAL donut shops left in St. Louis. The Food Network even did a special on it. They were voted one of the best in the country! You couldn't even get near the place for a while there. If you come to STL I'll bring you donuts from there! Jeannie, who has WAY too many good places to eat near her! |

Echo, here's the thing. I was waiting to see if I would be employed or not before I made that decision too. Well as of last Tuesday, I am not. But got myself put on the convention committee so that I have to go. Besides, just the few people I have met, and you have to consider that one of them is CHUCK, I wouldn't miss it for the world.
I also want Adam to have the experience. We have met a few at a M&G in Charlotte but want to meet more. I have enjoyed working on the committee, convention planning is what I used to do. Linda is right, it is a lot of work. I'm just glad that I have some people to share it with. I have done them before all alone and it is not a picnic. Jim and Bill have been great to work with. Now that I have my feet wet, I hope I can do more, in the future, all the people here that have helped to make Adam's life a life again. If I don't know ya I still love ya and can't wait to meet everyone in July. By the way, I don't think there is anyplace hotter than Columbia, SC in July, August, September and October. I'm from Kansas and find it to be heaven when I go for a visit. Louise |

Sad to say, I'll not be able to go to these things for some time. I won my disability case but all it allows is for me to live here. Without ebay I couldn't do that. I may be able to if SS kicks in in a few years as well, but only if so. :-/
