Title: My SHOCK for the YEAR!!!! Post by BarbaraD on Feb 25th, 2009 at 1:05pm
Yesterday started out as a "normal day"... I had to take my friend to the VA hospital - no problem. While we were in Shreveport, I told my son we would stop by and get his income tax stuff (he'd FINALLY gotten it together and was leaving it out on the table for me to pick up). No problem...
All went according to plan. We got thru the VA deal without a hitch. Got in the truck and went over to son's house. I went in to pick up the income tax stuff -- that's when the problem started -- it was scattered all over the table, so I'm going thru it picking up what I needed and "sorting" the rest. I come upon this "thing" that looks like a CD. I turn it over and see the word "PREGNANT". This did get my attention (I don't normally get nosey but.....) Anyhow curiosity got the best of me and I "looked". Seems that I'm gonna be a Granny again this year. Idiot son called as we were on the way home (I'm still in shock) and I asked him if there was something he needed to tell his old gray haired mama. His reaction, "You looked didn't you?" "Well it was laying in the middle of your income tax mess and it said 'pregnant' -- OF COURSE I LOOKED!" "Mom, we were waiting till your birthday to tell you!" (Guess they were going to give me a heart attack when I turned 65 - not nice to do to an old woman!!!). So I guess about August (or Sept - not really sure) I'll be changing diapers again. Maybe I'll be out of shock by then.... Hugs Granny B |

<Throws down the "bullshit" penalty flag> Now wait JUST a flipping minute here ... You are FEMALE ... You are a MOTHER ... You are WAY over 60 years old ... There ain't no way you are not a nosy, meddling, pushy broad! Besides that, most of us KNOW you ... So quit trying to feed us a line .... LOL! ANY way, congrats ya old granny! BTW, it reminds me of the story of how my mother found out she was going to be a granny, again. My Mom was on the phone talking to her first grandchild, who was about 4 years old, at the time. The precocious lil thing was telling granny about her day, as follows: (going at ninety miles an hour, as she tended to babble on) "I went out side to play, and then I got into a fight with Sally, and then I lost my favorite doll, and then I had to come in for lunch, and Mommy told me she is going to have a baby, and then I had to go in for my nap, but I really didn't want to, so I went in to watch some television, and Mommy got mad at me for that ..." At about this time, she finally stopped to take a breath, before starting in again. My mother was finally able to register what she said in the middle of her soliloquy ... And ask her to repeat about Mommy and the baby ... And that is how she found out she was going to get HER second grandchild! Anyhow, I don't want to hijack your thread ... Your old ticker can't take much more ... Good luck in spoiling this one too! Chuck |

When I was about 16 I found out I was getting another sibling the same way, one of the young kids had been left out of an outing and in her crying, mom and step-dad said pretty soon she would have a new baby to play with. She blurted it out to us. I thought she meant her doll but when I saw my moms face turning purple I found out I was getting another kid to watch. (Edited to say: Congratulations though on the new baby!) |

John found out he was going to be a daddy again when he came back to the office to find me gone and a possitive pregnancy test on his desk! We had just started our business three months earlier, had no insurance, and were still living off of savings from a truck he had sold. I was beyond upset, crying, couldn't stay at the office and left after thowing the possitive test on his desk. He picked it up when he got back and asked an employee....umm....what's this? That's when he was told he was gonna be a daddy again. Ahhh, the good old days!
Congrats Granny!! Beth |

With the first one, he called me and was asking me what to do about termintes in his house and then "Oh by the way Mom, we're going to have a baby," When I didn't say anything, he said, "Mom are you Ok?
Hell, I was still thinking about what to do about the termintes... :) KIDS!!!!!! I told my mom as soon as the rabbit died, but after about 7 months I hadn't gained any weight and she asked Bill if I was "imagining" being pregnant. He went off into a fit of laughter and told her if I was imagining it then he was imagining something was kicking him out of bed at night. I was just one of those "wimmens" that didn't gain any weight (only about 10 pounds total and that was the last 2 weeks). Mom did finally believe me when she saw me go into labor (back before the epi's - I did it with screams and name calling!). Oh well, I'm excited - maybe I'll get a little girl this time - never had one of those before. Always wanted to make little frilly dresses and bows and all that - ya know have a little "lady" just like Granny. :) (Chuck shut up!). Ok, Caleb and I are going to start plotting for a little sister for him. I think he'll make a super big brother. Hugs BD |

Not sure who will be more excited - you or Caleb but congrats to y'all! I know how much you've waited for another little one to love.
Let me know if you want more - I have a 4 year old coming for a few days and I expect by day 2, I'll be ready to send him somewhere! LOL! Hugs Carol |

Congratulations, Barb--although that was an unusual way to find out. ;)
Never know what you're going to find in the tax files, I guess. Best wishes, George |

LMAO -- You'd be surprised what I find in TAX files... ;D ;D ;D Luckily I have a really BAD memory problem (there are priests who don't know secrets that I do ::)) But I really can't remember anything after I close a file (years of training to forget helps). But PREGNANT in my kid's stuff did get my attention... My grandson is 7 years old. It's been a long time since I heard or saw that word associated with THEM! My lord - my son is 40 and his wife is 37. Reminds me -- You know why God intended you to have your children when you're young? So you don't forget where you left them! Hugs BD |
