Title: My Pain and Shame Post by UnderTheRadar on Feb 25th, 2009 at 9:57pm
Hey guys...if anyone's been wondering where I've been, I'm nursing some muscle sprains and a badly bruised ego. :D
On Monday, I completely busted my @ss getting off the school bus with my pack of art supplies. I'm talking total wipe-out of the epic FAIL variety. ;D It was on a very busy street right next to campus, and I'm trying to wrangle my box of supplies out the door with a modicum of dignity and I missed the bottom step and took a short flight out into the ditch. Complete sprawl. And to top it all off, the bus wouldn't leave! I'm trying to pick up all of my supplies and get the hell outta there, and the bus is just sitting there- with about 10 cars stacked up behind it waiting to go! :o It could ONLY have been more humiliating if I had been wearing headgear and a short skirt. So I have some truly amazing bruises and very badly sprained lats and serratus all down my right side...in fact, I'm already sore again just from typing this post, so latah dudes! 8-) (maybe I'll post a nice photo of my purple thigh! ;D ) |

I don't know which is worse. Falling with an audience or falling when no one is around to help you. I feel your pain, I really do.
Hope the recovery is a short one. Healing hugs are on the way. |

I'm almost 49 years old, and I have NEVER fallen...without an audience. No matter how alone I think I am...I need to merely trip, stumble, or run into something. Upon looking around the will be a minimum of 12 people stifling giggles! ;D Glad you can laugh about it. Hang in there! Looking forward to the purple pics!!! Joe |

Only a clusterhead can laugh at himself like that. ;D
I'm hope you heal up quick. Guiseppi, I'm with you. The only time I trip, fall or walk into things is with an audience ;D -Dennis- |

Under the radar....with a pic of Radar O-riley from M.A.S.H.. I love it.
Sorry you bruised your body as well as your pride. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and start all over again. ;) |

Sorry about the fall. Sounded painful. Similar things have happened to me... :-?
Hope you feel better and yes, pics are always welcome. ;) Hugs, Langa |

I think there is an unwritten rule that falling is not allowed unless there is an audience to witness the humiliation. ;D
Glad to hear your sense of humor is still intact. Beth |

And the audience is always so "helpful" with their questions....
When I tripped over the handicap parking thingy in the parking lot of this nice restaurant, my darling son asked, "Mom are you hurt?" "Hell NO son, I just wanted to check out the concrete from up close - that's why I landed face first on it! Now go call a GD ambulance since I can't move my arms and legs!" But usually while I'm going in and out of consciousness, I try to put on a good show for the crowd. But then I love to brighten up other's dull days... :) Keep the smile on your face -- the bruises will heal... (and you probably won't see that particular crowd again anyhow) Hugs BD |

Kinda like a football player holding an arm up in the air as they wheel him strapped to a gurney off to the waiting ambulance ;) I can see it now. Barb in the same prone position holding that arm straight up except she has a single finger extended too ;D -Dennis- |

Sorry you are beaten up, Paige. It happens to the best of us. I was waiting table a few years back and tripped up some steps. Landed flat on my face..... Didn't spill a drop of beer though!
I hope you heal up quickly! Jeannie |

Hey, falling on your face is ACCEPTABLE -- spilling beer is NOT! ;) |

We've all had our bruised ego's. Here is a story to make ya feel better. About 12 years ago, i was doing my normal jog at the time. It was pretty hot that day and I was feeling a bit more sluggish. I was down to the last minute of the jog, crossing a street. There were a good 15 cars at the intersection waiting for the light to turn green.
Well....my first step up the curb did not make. I ended up flat on my face. My walkman....yes it was that long ago, ended up in about 5 pieces. I wasn't hurt but felt like the biggest idiot on the planet! |

My freshman year of college I slipped on some food in the cafeteria. It was a huge school so there were LOTS of people. Somehow I managed to do a split, hold onto my tray and everyone clapped. I felt so stupid as well as sore the next day! I hope you are feeling better now, ego and all!

A couple of years ago I was killing time between appointments and spied a little store across the road that I thought required investigation.
I stepped off the curb (or thought I did) and did a face plant on the road - tore the hell out of brand new dress pants. Two men were standing over me saying "don't get up Ma'am - we're calling an ambulance". I told them I didn't think emergency services were required to respond to stupidity - got up - brushed myself and my dignity off - and tottered away down the road - briefcase in hand and on to next appointment - looking like a rag picker!!!!! Sorry that you injured something more than your pride, Paige. Sending get well wishes your way. Carol |

i was talking to another driver on the cb a few months ago and we got to talking about oregon. he told me he was snowed in on the side of the road and he had to take a piss. he slipped on the ice in midstream, then he busted his noise on the steps on his fuel tank, then he slid down the hill leaving behind a red and yellow trail. truck driving sure can be a cruel mistress sometimes ;D

BWAHAHAHAAA!!! Oh, that is so sad and funny...
Okay, it could only have been worse if I had headgear, a short skirt, AND left a yellow trail down the ditch!!! ;D |
