Title: Something for those who are tired of winter~Update
Post by deltadarlin on Mar 4th, 2009 at 8:11pm
I was on the way home from work and decided to ride around a bit and see what I could capture of spring.  Most of these aren't even *composed*, just see and shoot.  Still have a lot more to load, but I'm on dial-up  right now.

These are in my yard/pasture.

Thank you,

If I can't see them out my window, at least I can see them here.

The washing on the line ain't close to dry, suppose i'll have to use the old tumble drier (bang goes my carbon footprint) am i boverred!!! not at the moment i'm not.
How environmental is that?
At least when the gooooood weather arrives it will cut my fuel bills.

We still are in winter here, so it will be another month or two before we see any spring growth.

Your pics are awesome! So nice to see a little light at the end of this relentless winter! Somewhere under the four feet of snow here is new spring growth ready to bloom! 8-)

Still a bunch of snow around here...but it's supposed to warm up a bit this week and it hould start to melt with the above freezing temps and the sun higher in the sky, it should melt off pretty fast if it stays nice for a few days.

Thanks for a taste of spring.  I'm jealous.

Here are a few more.  BTW, almost all of my daffodils  and all my narcissus are transplanted.  Me and a good friend of mine, Debbie (gd rest her soul, she died of non-Hodgkins lymphoma 4 years ago,a nd I miss her, especially at this time of the year), used to throw the shovels in the back of my Explorer and go *flower hunting*.  There are a lot of old home places here that haven't been occupied in a very long time.  Debbie had a way with plants that I've not seen equaled, even by horticulturists.  She knew the common name for almost every plant and flower native to this area.

Anyway, enough of my meanderings and on to more pictures.  BTW, it's supposed to be 78 F tomorrow and 80 by the weekend.

*Scrambled eggs* naturalized in my pasture.

When I was a little kid, I used to pick mama a boquet of these *flowers* (I didn't know they were weeds).

That was refreshing.  Before you know it the tulips will be up... then all spring will break loose!

Thanks for posting these... I always feel like I'm going for a walk with you when you post these.

with warm regards,
Tony

Someone please tell me that Michigan is going to look like that soon!!!!!  I'm so sick of the snow and cold.

Thanks for sharing your beautiful shots with us.  It's just the boost I need to know that spring is on the way.

Looks like Spring is in the sprung mode. Thanks for the pix.

It beats the SEVEN degree weather we had yesterday. Supposed to be about 40 today though.

I enjoyed seeing your spring flowers, Carolyn.   :)  Just what I needed to see.  It's been quite warm, but very gray around here the past few days.

I've been thinking the crocuses ought to be showing up soon, but haven't seen them yet.

Last night we got a dusting of snow.  It ain't over 'till it's over, I guess.   :-/

Best,

George

Daffodils naturalize and spread and that's what makes me like them so much.  Not only that, after they quit blooming and the leaves start turning brown, we mow them down.  Hopefully some of my more exotic daffodils will be blooming before long.

Thanks for sharing the pics Carolyn.  We still have a few weeks before the daffodils start blooming here.  I did notice that some of my daylily's are starting to sprout up.  Thanks again for the early peak of spring to come.

Sigh, I better come clean. Joe PLANTED the daffodils. But they ARE MINE! They are outside my office door and he plants them for me. So they're MINE right? :)

I took or rather tried to take a few pictures today.  It was a wee bit on the windy side with gusts coming straight out of the south.  I'd focus, hold my breath and hope the wind died for a split second.  We shall see.

I actually have daffodils that start blooming in Feb/Mar and I'll pretty much have something in bloom to mid April (daffodils).  Then my Cherokee rose start blooming and has blooms for about 2-3 weeks.  It is an evergreen rambling rose, but the bloom time is short.  It's a monster, about 30 feet long, 15 feet thick and probably 20-25 feet tall (oh yeah, it was started from a small rooted stem, no bigger than a pencil).  It's about 17 years old.   Has wicked thorns, but is easy to grow.  Don't feed it or spray it or you'll regret it.  The blooms can get as big as a saucer and it has a slight fragrance.  Here are some pictures from last year.

Joe may have planted them, and Christy may enjoy looking at them, but I think they're their own daffodils.   ;)

I like 'em.

Best,

George
