Title: Raising boys Post by ANNSIE on Mar 6th, 2009 at 5:38am As a mother of two boys, I so much identify with this :D Raising Boys - key points to ponder The following came from an anonymous Mother ... " Things I've learned from my Boys (honest and not kidding) ": 1- A king size waterbed holds enough water to fill a 2000 sq. ft. House 4 inches deep. 2- A 3-year old Boy's voice is louder than 200 adults in a crowded restaurant. 3- If you hook a dog leash over a ceiling fan, the motor is not strong enough to rotate a 42 pound Boy wearing Batman underwear and a Superman cape. It is strong enough, however, if tied to a paint can, to spread paint on all four walls of a 20x20 ft. room. 4- You should not throw baseballs up when the ceiling fan is on When using a ceiling fan as a bat, you have to throw the ball up a few times before you get a hit. A ceiling fan can hit a baseball a long way. 5- The glass in windows (even double-pane) doesn't stop a baseball hit by a ceiling fan. 6- When you hear the toilet flush and the words "uh oh", it's already too late 7- Brake fluid mixed with Clorox makes smoke, and lots of it. 8- A six-year old Boy can start a fire with a flint rock even though a 36-year old man says they can only do it in the movies. 9- Certain Lego pieces will pass through the digestive tract of a 4-year old Boy. 10- Play dough and microwave should not be used in the same sentence. 11- Super glue is forever. 12- No matter how much Jell-O you put in a swimming pool you still can't walk on water. 13- Pool filters do not like Jell-O. 14- VCR's do not eject "PB &J" sandwiches even though TV commercials show they do. 15- Garbage bags do not make good parachutes. 16- Marbles in gas tanks make lots of noise when driving. 17- You probably DO NOT want to know what that odor is. 18- Always look in the oven before you turn it on; plastic toys do not like ovens. 19- The fire department in Austin,TX has a 5-minute response time. 20- The spin cycle on the washing machine does not make earthworms dizzy. 21- It will, however, make cats dizzy. 22- Cats throw up twice their body weight when dizzy. 23- If you spray hair spray on dust bunnies and run over them with roller blades, they can ignite. 24- 80% of Men who read this will try mixing the Clorox and brake fluid. I can add a few of my own experiences with my boys, such as 25- Unpopped corn kernels fit so perfectly in an 8 years old ear canal that an operation is required to remove them. 26- Lego pieces pushed up a nostril of a 3 years old dont come back out without a trip to the local ER. Those who pass this on to almost all of their friends, with or without boys - do it because: A) For those with no children - this is totally hysterical! B) For those who already have children past this age, this is hilarious. C) For those who have children this age, this is not funny. D) For those who have children nearing this age, this is a warning. E) For those who have not yet had children, this is birth control. :P |

So true, we have one boy, who is now 16, but I can remember him trying a few of these.
Have a nice day! Diane |

I found it hilarious. ;D
One of the first things I did when we moved was take a timed drive to the closest ER......it was 20 minutes. Whenever I saw my son and his friends doing something dangerous, I would tell them that it would take 20 minutes to get them to the ER. Only had to take that drive twice. |

That was so funny. Some of the stories Joe has told me sound just like this. I had girls, phew!

Very true.
Having raised a girl, I can say that girls seem to have been graced with a modicum of native common sense that young boys lack. The boys in my fly-fishing classes will often do potentially lethal things that would never occur to a girl. That said, girls have their own issues... ::) Best, George |

They do have the coolest, padded, long nose pliers they stick up kids noses in the ER to remove the incredibly diverse objects children choose to store there!!!! ;D

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
I can remember and with a 7 year old grandson it's all coming back AGAIN -- it's 15 minutes to ER from the farm..., but Granny is pretty good at Patch Work... Why just over the weekend we had a "little" mishap with a new pocket knife -- no artieries or veins - just some delicate blood vessels that really bled a lot. Granny got it tended to and kissed it all better. The knife is PUT UP till he's 40! But at least he knows it will do damage to a little person. Mark one up to lesson learned. Still waiting for the screwdriver in the light-socket... he's a boy - gotta try it... :) Hugs BD |
