Hmmm you may have something there.
In my local newspaper today there was something about facebook. They called it crack-book... for the addiction of it all. Me? I'm clueless about it all. I like to send handwritten notes to my friends..if I send a picture, it is on real photo paper. Guess I'm a dinosauer. When folks like Deb.C (here) send me a thank-you card that means more to me than anything. |

Thus far I've resisted all the invitations. Having the reputation as a computer dinasour makes it a little easier. I can barely keep up with CH and my Cox e-mail!!!

Don't forget the fine print. All of these social networking places take possession of all postings to your page. For example, you post a picture of yourself. Someone from Backwater Toilet Bowl Cleaner Incorporated likes your picture. They give cash to facebook and take your picture with no compensation required to you. Now you are forever known as the Toilet Bowl Guy. And you never got a dime. That scares me just a little.
eeeeeeeek Be picky about what you let other people see for sure. Remember Michael Phelps. |

Just need a nudge to convince me that FB is brilliant scheme designed by the NSA. The site has all your associates, and their associated behavior. It also has your mugshot everywhere as you're 'tagged' in different pictures. It has your thoughts, as you post status messages, write notes, respond to other written stuff.
And we do it all gladly and voluntarily! |

Not me! I ain't a member, nor do I plan to be. I don't see the sense of it, nor do I like the possibilities of misuse. Call me old, cranky, and out of date, but I am happy in my senility! It IS my senile world! Grumpy old Chuck |

Facebook changed their "own all your content" policy recently. You still own it all, until they decide otherwise. This is not actually unusual for sites that host content like this. Just unusual that so many made an uproar and got them to change. Most sites say "don't like it? Don't post."
I can keep current on my 17 year old's contacts and friends and activities on Facebook. I think that's important. And those of us who frequent CH.com AND Facebook have found each other and talk about you all behind your backs . . . . ;) just checking to see if you are really reading this or just skimming. (oh - and regarding friend or cause requests, there IS an ignore button. I use it all the time. I didn't like someone in High School, why would I want to chat with them 30 years later?) |

I'm with MW. I can keep up with my kids goings on and talk about you all behind your backs :P
See MW, I do read the posts ;D We all share family pics and plans and chatter about what's going on. With numbers like mine I need every piece of technology to help me keep my head around where they are and what's going on. Yesterday I found out that one of my Son's was almost in an accident. He described it as the kind that "makes your balls tingle". ;D Not too long ago I had a teenager accept an invite to an all-night kegger. You bet I'm glad I found out about that one. The odds of anyone but the folks that sell "Grecian Formula" or "Just For Men" wanting my pic for anything but a before loser shot are slim to none ::) Post anything anywhere on the WWW and you've instantly lost control of it. If that makes you uncomfortable, don't post it. -Dennis- |
