One of my son's went to Ireland twice right after high school. He loves the place. Both times he started in Shannon and worked his way across the country hauling equipment for a folk band. His travel companion had an uncle in the band.
He loved spending time with the old sods listening to their stories over pints of Guinness and listening to traditional music. The people were warm and welcoming. -Dennis- |

From what I hear, it's not a 1-day celebration there. It lasts about a week and began yesterday! The poor kid has to find a job and she's afraid nobody's really working/hiring right now.

This is a much smaller thing but Lisa was a senior in high school at a swim meet at the college she wanted to go to. My husband was at home, got the mail and found out she got in and received a good scholarship. She went back in the afternoon and the coach and her new college team congratualted her and one of the girls took her out to breakfast the next morning. It was pretty cool to be accepted while being there. The coach knew but told her he couldn't tell her but letters went out and it was good news. And of course we went straight to the bookstore for sweatshirts.
Another one would be Mexico on Cinco De Mayo. Charlotte |

We're looking forward to pictures too, I'll have to get on her about that. I don't think she's ventured out far beyond looking for a place to live and moving. Maybe today will be the day for her!
Oh and I like all the other cool places/events ideas! |

I bet she is having a blast!! Ah, to be young again.
My Step-Dad went to Ireland about 5 years ago with his golfing buddies. We had to laugh when he called to tell us that two (as he put it) "Ladies of the Night" tried to pick him up as he was on his way to church. ;D |

and worried too I would imagine. (o.k. maybe that's just me) Thanks for the pics Christy. She looks like she's having a good time, but that one looked like she was homesick too. (mothers tend to notice this kind of stuff, don't we?) |

Hi, yes, her name is Patty. Patty in Dublin in time for St. Patty's. Oh and trust me, she's warming up for the celebration. Going to have to check the kid into Betty Ford Clinic when she gets home! |

Nice nice pictures!!! I hope to see more!!!
and yes Charlotte, Cinco de Mayo is celebrated too but only with a military parade and some schools participate also ( it is a holiday, nobody works) but the biggest party is for the Independence Day (when everybody gets drunk ;) ) well, any holiday should be an excuse to celebrate! I am celebrating St. Pat's too, the irish part I get from being married to a half Irish husband ;D! Slainte! |
