Next week, she takes her comps in order to graduate and receive her Masters Degree. As most of you know, she's had some major health problems. She's still not fully recuperated. She takes 8 written comps on Monday (over 4 hours, 30 minutes per subject) and her oral comps on Friday (4 oral comps).
Anywho, please send positive vibes her way. I know that she can do it without too much problem, but positive vibes sure won't hurt! Carolyn |

Sending positive thoughts to your girl.
In all you've ever mentioned about her, it seems she's a very hard working, dedicated young woman who is going to do very well. Carol |

Christy,
She will have her Master's in History (she has a minor in government). Then, I will be needing the positive thoughts, because she will most likely end up teaching in South Korea. This is/was actually her dream when she graduated with her undergrad, but she had too many health problems. Mama sure don't want her to go overseas, but you know how it is when they're over the age of 21. Oh well, this is her dream, so she needs to follow it while she's still young enough to do it. Brew, She's changed so many times over the course of her degree that I'm not quite sure any more. I know that her broad focus is world history. She's had an interest in military history for a long time and WW II is where her interest has been. |

Very cool. I sometimes wish now that I had spent more time in the study of military history when I was in school. My area of focus ended up being 18th and 19th century European intellectual history. It seemed to be a natural fit since I had a second major in philosophy. I still tell people that those two degrees and $1.50 continue to get me a cup of coffee, but they always ask me for the $1.50. ;D Please tell Sarah that I'm a little envious and extremely proud of her. I gotta meet that girl someday. |

I won't have to tell her, she comes on here and reads (plus I sent her an e-mail telling her to come here and read ;D). You may get to meet her. I'm coming to convention this year and hopefully she will get to come with me (just depends on her job situation).
Brew, I know what you mean about *wothwhile* degrees. I have a BA in psychology (with minors in history and English) and it's about as worthless as tits on a boar hog. I was able to work in the fields of counseling and vocational rehab years ago, but now, those fields require a Masters' and I have no desire to go back to school. |
