Gonna have to read this tomorrow, but you gotta love the first line:

"It's over - we're officially, royally fucked."

One of his main points - we got into this situation by deregulating and allowing companies to grow so large, with their fingers in so many areas, that we have unstable corporations too complex to regulate and  'too big to fail' ... Ok, they can fail, but they would take the entire economy down with them.

Time to go back to the days when commercial banks, investment banks, insurance companies and brokerages were separate, defined entities that kept clean books.  Otherwise, no one (including the companies themselves) know what is really going on.

I wonder what happens when we allow the government "to grow so large, with their fingers in so many areas."

Time to go back to the good old days when the Constitution meant something.

You're right Monty.

Left to their own creativity, insatiable lust, and an unregulated ocean to swim in, it seems inevitable that the sharks would eat us up and this would happen.  I sometimes wonder if it was driven by the thrill. I mean, when you're making millions, what drives one to continue to work toward more?  You can't possibly need more? The total absence of Honor is astounding.

What I found disturbing is the vast sums of money the Fed is dumping to their friends, the banks. We are talking about Dollars on a galactic scale. Astonishing is inadequate. And the secrecy is scary.

In the midst of this I sometimes wonder if we've all been duped into believing that we are really free.  Are we? I'm beginning to realize that we aren't.

I've used the analogy before that we are just free range chickens.  We're free to wander about the land laying eggs. And the Farmer comes by and takes some of of what we produce. And as the need gets larger, he will begin to take more and more.... all the while telling us we are free and good and then taking more.

I'm sorry to sound so down but lately I just feel like a casualty to my ignorant belief that Government was actually looking out for me.

Naively,
Steve G
